The older I get the more I like the Allman Brothers band. When younger sometimes I needed something heavier although I liked & listened to them. Now it gets better every time I hear those songs.
I was born in Atlanta and I am southern raised. I am proud to be a southerner and our southern heritage. The south has produced tons of great artists from Little Richard to Ray Charles, James Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd and of course the Allman Brothers. I recently visited the Big House and took the tour and videoed it for my You Tube channel. I also took the walking tour through Macon and hit all of the spots where many of these great artists performed throughout their careers from their early days of being unknown to their days as well known acts. Gregg seemed like he was such a humble man. I wish I could have met him before he died. I also visited their graves for my video, in honor and respect to him, Duane and Butch and Berry. I plan on visiting the Big House again and taking my time without doing a video and reading much of the memorabilia there.
I went to the Big House in February 2024. Man if only the walls could talk. It was a spiritual experience. You have to go. I went to Rose Hill Cemetery to the gravesite. I’m glad I got to go and experience it.
Duane & Gregg will ALWAYS be the best. Duane the best guitarist and Gregg the best blues singer that ever lived. I know Momma A was so, so proud of her boys. I know I sure am! 🙏❤️🍄🎸
I remember visiting the Big House Museum just a few months after Gregg's passing on to be with the Lord. It is an awe inspiring place and I recommend it highly to everyone who may have plans to pass through Macon, Bibb County, Georgia USA ...However, I am not sure of their safety protocals in light of the coronavirus epidemic. 8/8/2020 SRC
It's not that far, just over in Louisiana. I need to take my dad soon. My middle name is Duane because of his love for Duane, Gregg, & the Allman Brothers Band. And my favorite guitarist & band ever is Skydog & The Allman Brothers Band. So it would be an incredible trip. I think my dad would have to almost physically drag me away from Macon once there, though. To be that close to them, the Big House, FAME, etc...would be a dream. Unfortunately I could probably never leave where I'm at for long because my daughter and only child is buried here. She was almost 2 yrs old so I barely got any time with her at all.
A man walked up to me in Conyers GA and was asking me what kind of truck was I driving? It was a railroad spraying tank truck. I sed man you are Duane Allman and your band has always been my favorite but I was never able to see a live performance. “He sed no man Duane died many years ago but most ppl say, I’m Gregg but he died cpl yrs ago “ and he smiled...same tattoos, jewelry same demeanor as the guy in this interview. A ‘real gentleman’. I’m not sure what the purpose of this encounter was but I asked him “are you Gregg Allman or an angel sir” and he only smiled! Rest in PEACE GREGG ALLMAN...I hope to shake your hand again in heaven sir!
