Greta Van Fleet Called Out Over Led Zeppelin Likeness In Interview 

Robert Plant mentioned them in an interview with pride. That is how I learned about them. They give me hope for the future.

I don't get the trash they get for the Zeppelin similarities, should be glad kids this young are talented enough to sound like one of the greatest bands ever, instead they get trashed.

The more I listen to these guys the less they sound like Zeppelin and the more they start to have their own sound

My daughter just posted this band on facebook and I was blown away! I am now watching every youtube video on this band. I'm 55 and grew up with heavy metal and classic rock and it is so refreshing to hear some real talent come out of this generation. Keep on rockin and if you ever come to Chicago, I will definitely be there, with my daughter, of course :)

They are a great band, full of excitement and energy. It is so great to have good music back and not all that pop pre-recorded stuff. These guys really sing and play instruments. I love Led Zep but I never mistake this band for Led Zep when I hear them. Fans should be rooting for their success. They are taking us back to a time of great music.

Greta van Fleet didnt usurp Hard Rock. They found it in the gutter and picked it up.

Please tell me the guys aren't depressed, hate life, hate their parents, and into drugs. Just good music from guys having fun.

When Robert Plant was starting out, he, himself had influences. One of his was Elvis, the King. All the greats have influences. whats wrong with that....nada. Haven't heard anything new like this that gave me goose bumps in a long long time. I can't get enough!

They are popular, because finally a band has captured that Zeppelin feel in their music. So many tried and failed.

It's great to see these guys are so sincere and take their music seriously, they come across as being so genuine!

I really don't give a fuck if they sound like zeppelin. Because they create their own original songs!! And I truly believe they are the start of something great. I sure as hell got allot more motivated to play guitar even more. Before I discovered GVF I always had this thought in the back of my mind, like there's no point in getting better at guitar because nobody gives a fuck anyway.. but this gives me hope.

In the end way more people don’t care if they sound a little like zeppelin. These guys are huge and most will support them.

Next time, turn down the music. Nothing wrong with some background music, but it’s a problem when I have to struggle to hear the band talk over the music.

Absolutely loved the interview. I was just introduced to these guys recently by my friend and bassist I play with and he said "Knowing you, you will love these guys" You know, I've had the sensation that good ol rock has been pretty much dead for quite some time in the music industry. Listening to these guys and The Magpie Salute gets my hopes that all the crap will eventually disappear and we will have a glorious time for Rock n Roll like in the 70´s

Yeah.... it's the blues connection helping drive this thing. In the tradition of Zeppelin here - they're recapturing the classic hard rock and metal sound - with its blues roots - and its grabbing people. Plus a lot of that mystical prose and poetry from the classic bands. And yeah, the hair and the duds and the minimalist stage presence are cool. I saw many of the classic 60s and 70s groups in live concert - and these guys bring back the joy for me. No frills and no BS..... just very very good musicianship and real chemistry between them. And the drummer reminds me a lot of Bonham, BTW.

Airborne is the modern AC/DC and these guys can be the modern Zeppelin. John Mayer can fit in there... Will kids finally have some modern guitar heroes to look up to? I hope so!

Sounds good to me, as one of the truest music lovers, I'm highly thrilled to come across this band.I hope the rest of our youth will follow, for I dig what's going on here, and I'd love to see a bunch of fresh new bands come out in the name of ROCK revive it and keep it alive, and possibly improve it.

Andy you started with the Golf Tourney reference..... the Drummer (Daniel) is a pretty solid Golfer. State Championship Tourney level. He had to skip the State Championships in his Senior Year because they had a showcase gig in Sweden. His Dad is the HS Golf Coach.

As a 60 year old who grew up with rock and still to this day!! I also listen to bands like Trivuim and Sylosis etc. These kids are brilliant, and have got something that will take them a long way. As for sounding like Led Zep, well seriously, who wouldn't want to have a voice like Robert Plant? The man even gave the thumbs up for them. Hope to hear GVF for many years to come!!!!

It's fantastic to see young guys putting out real rock n roll! I have not been this impressed with anything that's been put out by the younger generation in a long time. This is incredible and I have hope that Rock n Roll actually might have another page to turn that's real and not generic as far as the younger rockers go!

I just discovered these guys the past month on the radio. I immediately thought Zeppelin as well, but I hope they grow more into themselves on the next album or release of songs. Good stuff regardless, very talented! Makes me happy knowing they're from a small town in Michigan like myself.

I agree with you doods that these doods gonna blow up if they keep on this trajectory. They will be one of the biggest bands in the world soon. These kids are great and they rock, so what if they are Zepplinesque, which isn't a bad thing in this case, and they have a lot of other great influences that I can see and have their own thing that will evolve further as they progress together. Every one of them super talented, great band!

I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , my God listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness OMG these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . Being a 50+ dude and favorite band ever being "That Band" whose name i shall not mention, i have to say i love these guys. The music brings back the memories of some classics and freeking evolves into something fresh and so damn welcome! Awesome music!

This band is a breath of fresh air. The fact that they do sound like Zeppelin is a blessing, being as Zep wont make any new music.. As far as "copying" goes, thats pretty hypocritical since like a quarter of Leds material are covers to begin with. Appreciate the music & quite being critiques, this isnt fucking Rolling Stone.

As with all bands that have a massive debut record, the test will come to these guys with their upcoming second record. They have a great energy and were steeped in great music (Blues/Rock/Soul), which provides them with a great foundation that should lead them to sustenance and longevity. Their music is of course in the classic blues-rock genre I fell in love with growing up, so at 57 I find it very refreshing to hear this type of great musicianship and songwriting coming back. The fact that they are brothers (3 of the 4) I think bodes well for them, as they seem to get along very well. Very cool situation and I wish them a long career.

They same angle was labeled on The TeaParty back in the day. "Oh he sounds like Jim Morrison". Its so genuine with Greta and frankly I hear AC/DC vocals and Rush Geddy Lee in there too. Let these young guys shine...and as the commentator said they will bridge the generation and probably cause a boom in Classic Rock and the likes of our beloved Led Zeppelin.
