We talked everything from Sam's socks to Greta Van Fleet's upcoming first album to their musical tastes in this candid, unedited interview from May 24, 2018.
Becca C her names Ronnie( I’m pretty sure it’s short for Veronica) and she really looks like the twins. I think she’s in the middle out of all the siblings in terms of age. She seems really sweet just like them
It's all from inside girl, Its how you have wired your brain, and how deeply satisfied you are, fuck routine, it doesn't work, trust me i'm an spiritual man.
Not only are these kids great musicians and have a great sound. They totally respect the history of rock and blues and totally understand their place in the universe of music.
Poor guy. They need to work on their interview skills. For example, one of them will be speaking, & one of the others will completely him cut off. Danny gets the worst of it.
I have watched this a whole bunch of times, and just noticed at 4:12, when Jake sings that little snippet from "The Producers", he looks at Josh, and then nudges him, like "hey bro, wasn't that hysterical, what I just did?" Josh kinda smiles and giggles a little bit. So, damn cute!
I love that I get to laugh along with these guys when they do an interview. They're very personable which I think is another thing that makes their music as good as it is for multiple generations.
"if we weren't doing this, we'd b doing something 2 better the world, one way or another" well, i must tell u that u already r bettering the world....by bringing the pulse back to the greatest era of rock from the 60's & 70's. music needed u so very desperately & 4 those of us who love that classic rock sound, we needed u 2. u have made us older folks so very happy!! ty GVF!!!
I never complain on other’s videos BUT! Wish you could have at least used 1 or more mics and a better room acoustically. Hard to hear. But thanks for sharing. These young cats are going places no doubt. Big fan!
Saw them this summer, incredible show!! These boys are so talented! They sounded even better live! Danny killed it on drums, he has such a beautiful sounding kit. His solos were top notch! Josh's vocals were mind-blowing, Jake slayed that guitar!! He is so damn talented!! He really makes that guitar sing beautifully! Sam is so multi-talented. He's my favorite! Love the way he plays bass and keyboard. He gets so lost in the music! Great bass lines, beautiful keys, just awesome. I love their music, because they have such great influences! The way Sammy raved about Santana, I feel the same way. Love Santana!!!!!!!! Their woodstock performance, just legendary. Soul Sacrifice anyone?? 💜💜💜 GVF grew up listening to great music, they have such great tastes. It really shows in their work, just amazing music. Can't wait for the album, It's been killing me!!
I thought I was just gonna watch a few mins if this but before I knew it the whole thing was over.... I LOVE unfiltered/uncut interviews!! So much more interesting than the quick flashy ones
Great to see this interview! Thanks for putting it on RU-vid. Sam really is articulate here. I also expect him to be the first member (but not the only!) of GVT to be invited for a GQ shoot.
First new band in 20 years I'm totally in love with...I love these interviews! They are so funny and I love the way Josh touches everyone who interviews them! Can I adopt these boys?? They'd make great younger siblings to my own kids!!♡♡♡
the 60's and 70's were the best era in rock music, and it's nice to see a band influenced by that period, and I hope it's a trend with more young bands doing the same, bands being influenced by the Beatles and Stones, The Who, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Queen, Early Aerosmith, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Traffic, Santana, and many others, I look forward to Gretta's new full album, I'm curious to see if they have grown a little since there EP witch I still want to listen to, I have mainly just listened to youtube videos of live performances, but I wish these guys success, keep rocken
A lot has changed since the band did this interview , one year later. Jake IMO changed the most out of everyone in the band. He now says he’d go into the medical field if he wasn’t playing in GVF. Very interesting.
I love these guys. Down to earth, still growing but they have great taste in music ( better than the interviewer's taste) and all their influences will eventually shape their own sound more. They sound like Led Zeppelin to a lot of people but not as much as some people say. Their new album is quite different from LZ. Josh's voice happens to be similar to Plant's voice but I hear so much more than just LZ. Bottom line, 4 nice and enthusiastic guys who love playing, can play their instruments well, want to make great music that is simple ( in a good way, as in not too polished and over-produced)and touches people. I love their chemistry and innocence. You've got my vote.
It's refreshing to see people my age creating good, actual music. Most of the shit that's popular now, is just not music in my opinion. I'm just happy that such a great genre like rock and roll is carrying on. That's was really interesting about these dudes. I'm sure that they will be considered one of the best rock bands of my generation.
It's nice for me to have a band I like that I can actually look forward to their new stuff, most of the stuff I like isn't being made because the band broke up
I’m a new fan. I was working outside in the summer of 2017 when I heard this song playing on the radio. I was like, “What is that, some lost Led Zeppelin track?” I stopped what I was doing went into my barn, sat down and listened, waiting to hear something about this song. The Jock said, ladies and gentlemen, THAT was Gtreta Van Fleet. I was blown away. I didn’t follow up, research them, or anything, but I took note. Almost a year and a half later I’m watching a RU-vid channel “A British Guitarist Reacts to Greta Van Fleet” and was like, “These kids are special”, so I spent the evening watching all these interviews, and live concert footage. I feel the same way I felt when I visited my cousin in Massachusetts back in 1974, and he pulled out an album by a local band that hadn’t taken off yet, Get Your Wings, by Aerosmith. I listened in stunned silence as that album played in his bedroom, and I knew I had heard something special then. A year later they were world famous. These kids are not only a special band, they are special people. My hope, and Prayer for them, is that they avoid the snares and pitfalls that has ruined many a good band before- the drugs and alcohol, the things that have nearly ended careers, ruined lives, of so many on the paths to greatness.
They have tremendous confidence,& beautiful smiles! Hope they stay sober........all it takes is one shitty manager But these boys seem pretty bright. Please guys stay straight & beautiful.Jake your my fave member fab guitarist. Your daddy raised you well!! He's also a great musician! ❤️❤️ love your sense of humour as well guys! All of you have great hair that's shiny!!!! That's why the smiles & confidence = TALENT!!!!! I binge watch your vids Got your first album in 🇨🇦 the NXT one hasn't been released here as yet.But I will purchase it guys! YOUR AWESOME! From 🇨🇦
I like the fact that Josh isn't wearing the same color shirt as his bandmates! :-) "You can't go wrong with a good pair of comfy moccasins though, you know?" I AGREE JOSH! I've been wearing them for YEARS now & own 2 pairs.
the rock n roll still pics are awesome guys please put them on posters, large shredding guitars, percussion never stopping, bass Sam's is awesome 4 integral parts of the great "new",21st century ROCK n ROLL....ers!

I'm a Journey fan. Steve Perry "The Voice" is awesome! Steve made that band back in the day! Also, Neal Schon played with Santana prior to Journey. I know music is me! 😅❤
