Greta Van Fleet we are playing for crowds that are bigger then our home town 

I walked into a liquor store/tavern the other night and ran into a DJ I know who works at a FM radio station that plays a really eclectic blend of rock music from the 60's through the 80's. The station is located about 30 miles away from where we were. Anyway, I walked up to him and said ... " Hey, have you heard of the young guys hitting some radio stations that go by the name of Greta Van Fleet ?? ". " No I haven't ", he said. " Well, they're damned good. You ought to give them a listen on RU-vid ". " Yeah, I might do that ", he said. Not liking him use the word " might " I instantly thought " No, you WILL !!! hear them ". I quickly broke out my phone, loaded Highway Tune and once it started playing I placed my phone on speaker and placed it about 30 inches from his head with his faced turned away from me. As soon as the guitar intro ended and the lyrics kicked in he turned his face toward me with his eyes wide open in amazement and at the same time the guy working the cash register said " Is that Jimmy Page ? Is that Robert Plant ". I said " Nope, those were the young kids I was talking about earlier ... Greta Van Fleet ". The really cool bit was after I'd made my purchase and was leaving the DJ asked me " What were those guys name again ... Greta Van Fleet ?? ". I said " Yep ". " Well I'm definitely going to give them a listen now ", he answered back. Hahahaha ... I scored one for the home team ... GVF !!!

These guys are incredibly brilliant intellectually. They will be fine, all four of them.

amazed at level of maturity just a well rounded cat. And making music truly for the love of it not necessarily trying to save rock having a big ego. if they do along the way awesome but either way just in it for their passion. really good kids for sure.

He and Josh speak very similarly. Josh has more of a nasal quality to his voice, though. Very interesting.

These guys are great! I just bought "From The Fires" from Amazon Digital. I hope to see these guys around for a long time, and wish them massive success on their career. Can't wait to see what they come out with next!

I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me. Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , my God listen to the acoustic version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness OMG these are genuinely masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency .
