Solo is terrible. Their little earnings guarantee system is a scam, their mileage tracker is a barely functioning piece of trash that constantly fails to recognize miles (especially if you try to track manually), and it has a huge range of technical issues and glitches. I'm never going to install that terrible app again and no one else should either.
Personally, I'm more interested in the possibility of using the app to assess when and where to drive, which is something your review doesn't even touch on. I could care less about them guaranteeing me anything. If the app can make me more productive in finding riders and getting trips, THAT is what I'm after. If I manage to do that, I won't need to worry about them guaranteeing my earnings. I don't understand why this is not commented on.... or, perhaps I've misunderstood what the app is actually good for.
I like the fact that solo syncs uk with my doordahs acckunt so even if i flrget to click the track miles button it knows when my dash goes live and automatically tracks the miles.
Yes solo does allow you to I believe do a pdf file. For free every year (as long as you have the base subscription) I use HR block because I'm also married But yes solo gives you a break down of your miles and trip by trip.
Gridwise seems less feature rich but more straightforward and simple. Solo looks like something that has cool features but they find ways to wiggle out of promises they make. especially paying the difference if you don't make as much money as promised. The multiple payment tiers are a red flag for me as well
Pen and a note pad. Phone note pad. Uber and Lyft give you the online miles. So why pay? Also they make more money on selling your data so they should be paying you for using their app. 😊
Does anyone have any advice at all about where/ how is best way to file taxes? I've always done them free myself w/ W-2 prior to 2023. got a tax extension for 2023's taxes. I've kept all my receipts for gas,gum ect. I track my miles with pen and paper, have all that added up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Guaranteed pay is a scam. Solo will claim you worked outside of metro boundary even if you only go to restaurants/stores within the zone designated by that particular gig. For example, on Spark, if I only go to Walmarts listed in what Spark designated as the Myrtle Beach zone, Solo will get around paying their guarantee by claiming "worked outside metro boundary", even though Solo won't show you what that boundary is. SCAM. People only make money from it by peddling it on other people.
Would have been nice to know about these apps’ LAST year!! I have (had) Keeper (which was a worthless AI run piece of garbage); no solo no gridwise AND a $2,900 tax-bill! Poor me, eh? Eff-off!
