Amen haven't lost a deer since i switched to grim reaper. All the deer I've shot with a reaper head have hit the dirt in less than 20 yard. All but one. He made it 40 yards but i still saw him drop. GOD BLESS and happy hunting 🙏

You got it! If there’s anything I wanna try and get across on this channel is everything will be as honest as can be and there won’t be any bs. If a product is great and has preformed great for me I’ll say that and if it hasn’t then I’ll tell you my experience and why I think it failed. I’m a very straightforward person and my videos will always be the same. Thanks for watching and good luck with your future hunts 🏹🎯

I hated mechanicals. Until I tried the razor tip 125 grain. Took two doe in early season with them. Both dropped within 35 yards. One of the of which it actually punched through bone and still completed a pass through. They changed my mind with mechanicals. Though I favor fixed heads, ill always have a razor tip in my stock. A great option for those who do not have the time to broadhead tune a fixed head.
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 11 месяцев назад
That’s awesome! The razortip is without a doubt a great head and in my opinion may still be the best head in Grin Reapers lineup! The 1 3/8” Razor tip has taken many animals and will continue to for years to come. My buddy who I hunt and work with just shot a doe with one Tuesday evening. Went straight through the scapula, breaking that leg and exited out the other side taking out the top of the heart and bottom of the lungs! She ran 60 yards downhill and was down for the count! I too favor a fixed blade head nowadays over a mechanical but I’ll always have at least one Grim Reaper head in my quiver! Congratulations and thanks for sharing your experience! Thanks for watching 🏹🎯

@@KeystoneOutdoorsman yes sir! He’s gonna replace the blades and put her back in the quiver. Well my 2 favorites for a fixed blade is depending on how much you’re willing to spend. That being said I’m a huge fan of Tuffhead broadheads, mainly the Evolution 2.0 single bevel but I also have the 3 blade as well. Probably my all time favorite is Magnus Broadheads and their Stinger and Black Hornet heads. For the price, durability, lifetime warranty and being made in America Magnus can’t be beat! I’ve taken many deer with the Stinger and Black Hornet and they definitely do a number on them! Tuffhead makes a hell of a head that’s pretty much damn near indestructible and also carries a lifetime warranty but the price for 3 is much higher than what you’ll pay for 3 Magnus heads.

Ill never go back to fixed blade they arnt worth it for whitetails unless your shooting low poundage and short draw length fixed blades arnt necessary. 55-75lb draw weight 500-525gr total arrow weight you can shoot any of these mechanicals and not really ahev any issues obviously if your shooting less than say 65lbs id stick more with the 1.5in cut like the sevr 1.5 or something like g5 deadmeats etc but if your in that higher draw weight and have around a 520gr arrow you can shoot any mechanical realky and not worry about bone. I shoot a V3 31 29.5in draw @ 73lbs and a 30in easton fmj 5mm 300 spine with a 100gr nap kill zone 2in 2 blade (switching to the g5 T2 this year) and ive had absolutely zero penetration issues havnt lost a deer sicne i started shooting this set up a few years ago. Ive shot them through the shoulder blades etc hell shot a do last year qrt away somewhat almost straight down it went in clipped the left shoulder came out somewhat by the opposite armpit busted through the leg bone cut almost everything and her leg was held on by a litte piece of skin/tissue. Was the broadhead toast NOT AT ALL the blades yes obviously they got bent but the ferral all good and if it werent for the dirt it would been a full pass through and this wasnt a fawn it was a good ole doe we took her because she stopped producing fawns so its not like i was shooting through a tiny body. What i feel it boils down to is one is only better than the other based on your equipment. And to be honest my buddy and his dog track deer during hunting season and he said that hes been tracking more deer shot with fixed blade heads than mechanicals by quite a good bit actually main reason being lack of blood trails and very questionable shots because these guys buy these single bevel fixed blade setups and think that they can just blast through anything and take shots the never should have other problem being for one the smaller cut and 2 alot of guys buy these single bevel heavy duty heads and are using them right put of the package when they arnt very sharp so they cut like shit the deer doesnt bleed all that great etc. My buddy says to be honest he prefers people using mechanicals over fixed because they have a much better chance with out fo t he box sharpness so deer bleed more and the larger cuts help make up for bad shots like a shot being to far back and that extra qrt in of cut being just enough to put a good slice in the liver or a slice in the back of the lungs etc etc i can definitely say the 2in cut has saved my ass a few times and i mean all that is where your gonna get these fixed blade guys that just never make a bad shot ever saying practice practice and make a good shot everytime and you wont have nothing to worry about well SHIT HAPPENDS deer ducks wind blows twig you didnt see adrenaline makes you twitch on the shot the list goes on I would rather have the piece of mind that i have that extra cutting diameter just incase

You know, I've always been a grim reaper fan myself. They've always done well but I have Kind of steered more towards the rear, deploying Broadhead like a carnage or a dead meat not a Rage Broadhead like how you got the really big entrance hole And you don't get that with a grim reaper Broadhead I wish they would design. A rear deployment broadhead in grim reaper. Because I would love to be able to buy them. Because they are American made. I think they're missing out on the boat here by not going that way.
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 10 месяцев назад
I absolutely agree with your statement! I don’t believe that there’s really that much kinetic energy lost as some claim in deploying the blades over the top like the Grim Reaper design but you definitely get a bigger entrance hole with a rear deploying head like the dead meat or mega meat or Sevr. Maybe Grim Reaper will surprise us one day and come out with a rear deploying head and if they do I’ll be all over it! Thanks for watching and for the comment 🏹🎯

I shoot a bear legit at 63 pounds with tko arrows, don’t know how fast my arrows are going but I punch nearly all the way through a black hole target, am I shooting enough weight to make this head perform?
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 9 месяцев назад
I would say it all depends on what animals you plan on pursuing for one and how much arrow weight you’re pushing and your draw length. Grim Reaper recommends that you have at least 65 foot lbs of kinetic energy to have the head operate properly and get max penetration on whitetail sized game. I hope this helps you and if you have any of questions please don’t hesitate to comment them. Thanks for watching 🏹🎯

Opinions are like assholes everyone has one and some stink more than others. Many animals have hit the ground and will continue to hit the ground from people using mechanical broadheads. Pretty much like any other piece of equipment if used properly they are very deadly. To act like deer haven’t been lost from people using fixed blade heads is pure idiocy but thanks for watching 🏹🎯
@woodsmanfarms9678
@woodsmanfarms9678 11 месяцев назад
@@keystonestatebowmen3128 funny heard that “and they all stink” never heard the “some stink more than others” lol. Well i agree with what you said and duh fixed have lost deer, but never ever from hutting the shoulder blade and not getting through it! 🤣 or from changing coarse on a steep angle shot because of the blade deployment action 😂. Or quartering forward shots from not penetrating deep enough or deflecting off the ribs and not entering the vitals cavity like fixed blades would just do easy. Those are ways which a fixed never has an issue. And when i look at two types broad-heads and one has multiple shot limitations and down sides yea I’m never choosing that one. 🤷🏻‍♂️ sorry im more ethical than that. I prefer the fast clean pass through kill at any angle any bone hit. The mechanical broadhead opening dumped his mechanical energy into the deer doesn’t penetrate very deep. Usually the arrow stuck inside the deer, so the force of the action, the arrows sticking out of the deer, freaks the deer out, and makes them run farther and harder. A fixed blade zips right through the deer run 20 yards looking around, not knowing what even happened and then drops dead. I choose science and ethics of the broad-head over the cool affect or look. Thats the true reason not opinion. Testing just shows fixed out performs in every way… except size of hole which means nothing 😂😂😂

@@woodsmanfarms9678 funny just had a friend of mine take out a nice doe last evening with the 1 3/8” cut model and blew through the scapula, busted the leg rendering it useless and take the bottom of the lungs out and top of the heart. I’m not afraid of lack of penetration because my bow is properly tuned and I’m not running a 350 grain arrow. Never had a deer run further than 60 yards after being shot with any of the Grim Reaper heads. Obviously I wouldn’t be taking any steep angle or quartering to shots cause you know there’s a thing called common sense that the majority of the people and keyboard warriors don’t have 🤣. Here’s an idea you use what works for you and I’ll do the same. I carry 2 mechanicals and 2 fixed blades in my quiver and I have zero issues with either. Use them properly and use some common sense and they’ll all work great. If anyone chooses a head over a “cool effect and look” then you’re just a moron.

Deer was quartered towards me. This broadhead ricocheted off the deers rib and only expanded one blade. 30in draw, 70lb. Mach 34 S2 CAM. I know two others who’ve had similar results. Not here to hate, curious to hear an argument for mechanicals vs fix blade. Haven’t used mechanical since
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 11 месяцев назад
My biggest concern with this entire statement is why on earth would you ever take a quartering to shot with a 2” cut mechanical broadhead? Especially one like this style that the blades deploy over the top. There’s tons of videos on here about the whole mechanical vs fixed blade thing. As far as I’m concerned it’s a lot of personal preference more than anything. I have no issues with either style if used properly and I’ve harvested many deer with both types. Whatever you’re comfortable with and preforms the best from your setup is the broadhead I’d probably go with.

I dont think any mechanical should be used under 60lb draw unless you're shooting something like the king cobra or a true speed bow 355fps or more. Grim reaper is a great head. I still opted for the 1 ⅜ model even though im in the 85ftlb range with 500gr, so higher momentum also. I think a lot of mechanical hate comes from people that are under bowed or shooting too light of an arrow.
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 11 месяцев назад
I agree completely with your statement! There’s a few mech heads that I could see for someone shooting under 60 lbs but it’s a very small list. 1 3/8” model has probably taken more game than any of their other head. Due to their blade angle compared to the other models they usually see much better penetration. Yes, I also agree with your statement about the being under bowed and to light of an arrow setup. I’ll add pure shot placement to that as well. Both my arrow setups sit at 515 and 525 with a 125 grain head and I’ve never had any issues. Thanks for watching and for your input 🏹🎯

Hello, do you think that pulling 60lb will have a good deployment of the blades? I would like to start bowhunting, but I don't have that much money to buy many broadheads, what would you recommend to start with? thinking of wild boar, red deer and fallow deer... a big greeting from Chile
@keystonestatebowmen3128
@keystonestatebowmen3128 9 месяцев назад
60 lbs is definitely enough to deploy some mechanical blades but I would not shoot this exact broadhead featured in this video. For you and that draw weight I’d select a small cutting diameter so you get maximum penetration. If you wanna use a Grim Reaper head I’d suggest the 1 3/8” cut 3 blade Pro, of the fatal steel with a 1 1/4” cut. You could also look at the Sevr 1.5” as well, they are a very tough and durable head. If you choose to go the fixed blade route I’d definitely suggest looking at Magnus Broadheads. I have several videos on my channel featuring Magnus heads, lifetime replacement warranty and built with very tight tolerances and fly very well. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please to hesitate to ask 🏹🎯

love the mini mag. at an inch and a quarter but 4 blade it's a great penetrator but usually a better/bigger hole than a 3 blade. more of a square hole than a "star" hole.
