I don't want to show "how playing grindcore" or anything : i'm not a good bass player, a teacher,... i just wanted to show the sound of my Rick in her "Grindcore mode" ! Low tuning & 100% distortion !^^
Go listen to "Spasm" and "Gored" (goregrind with only bass) and "The Afternoon Gentlemen" (two bassists) in grindcore you have a lot of start stop riffs and the distorded bass is just a fucking good thing to have in your arsenal when playing this style !
Hey, how are you guys doing? For my project I do have guitars and it's death metal, not grindcore/goregrind, but I really wanted that heavily distorted grindcore bass (I'm a bassist first, only bought the guitar to record) now I'm programming the drums which is hell but I should have sth soon enough.
I always thought grindcore bassists had to use picks so they could play the "grinding" part of grindcore. Boy, did I know I was wrong as soon as I saw the slapping part.
are you using some kind of pedal for the distortion? or does it come from the amp itself? Anyway round plz tell how you achieved such an incredible tone :P Great video :)
@annoyingryan1220419 : That's true, the bass isn't on the front in this music, but the bass and the guitars create a same aggressive tone. The role is different from the jazz, blues, pop,...
Hey I know this is a very late comment but I loved that pinkie and thumb “double slap” kinda thing you did there and I was wondering if there’s a name or songs where I can find more example, thank you and I loved the vid and that beautiful ric
don't really know... It's the same technique that Trujillo, Fieldy, (and others boys band bass players !...). It's an easy technique, but you can play fastly and dirty using it.
tune it down even lower to the point to where the strings are lose and constantly tap and hit the guitar and the other strings making it even more inaudible and noisey!
