I love that you are using the cheapest basses available anywhere to get the most awesome bass tones. Just proves that no one really needs a $2000 Dingwall or $4000 Les Paul to make good music.

A Dead Kennedy's Fat Strings episode would be great. Klaus Flouride is a awesome bassist and has a unique style and rocking tone. I can list so many bands for fat strings but will start with one for now.

I highly recommend the Blower Box pedal. It's from a company called IdiotBox. Made to emulate the bass tone of Blacky from VoiVod.

Just found this episode now (2years late haha) but was wondering if you could do a similar episode to this on Necrobutcher of Mayhem’s early bass tones (Deathcrush era) I love that nasty tone and as I’ve found online I’m not the only one yet no one seems to know what he used (I know he uses a metal zone currently).. great channel btw!!

the djent kids have to thank grind for their bass tone, it's kind of funny how everyone got into darkglass without knowing the dark secrets of that grindy tone, as you can get em without buying one yourself. don't get me wrong, darkglass is great, but it's more and more becoming the next sansamp lmao.

Another couple of bassists who use guitar rigs and are from bands you've covered are jo bench and Geezer Butler. Hell the only pedal Geezer used early on was a guitar wah once.

I have been plugging the Sansamp Bass driver into the clean channel of my guitar amp.. I decided to change the bass strings after 2 years, I didn't know what to get so I just bought the ernie ball pink pack of bass strings 100-45.... I'm going to put them on today..

@CIRCLE OF TONE Boss HM-2 sounds amazing on bass, got a 1986 HM-2 for like 200 dollars or something from some guy in Australia. The hm-2 I got my hands on sounds fucking super charged, way higher gain that a lot of ones i've heard on youtube, but maybe that's also because you have to pretty carefully eq your amp to get the best tones out it. I've tried all sorts of 12 volt power cables, and none of them work, so i just use my 1-spot 9 volt which works perfectly. Got to try putting it through my wah pedal, but I don't want to crack my walls! Also, got to say that old solid state peavey amps are fucking amazing, been using the same two amps for a long time (1996 Peavey Envoy 112 for guitar, and a 1986(?) Peavey 75 watt Minx Bass Amp).

I would love nothing more than to support you on patreon, you definitely deserve it, but a couple of years ago my arthritis became so bad I had to stop playing. Despite being on the disabled register it is standard Universal Credit that I receive, every penny is accounted for and ofcourse my missus would kill me. Not a pity party mate, my life is still good and I still wind up the valves and annoy the neighbor's and go once a month to a local jam night. I just can't carry the gear anymore 🙂😎🙂
