In this video we'll be reviewing the Griot's Garage G9 6.5 inch Random Orbital Polisher! Is it the best Budget option?
#autodetailing #carpolish #polishing #randomorbitalpolisher #GriotsGarage
In this video you'll follow me as I explain my opinion on the Griot's Garage G9 Random Orbital Polisher. I wanted to buy a polisher that was high quality, but not super expensive. This model, the G9 6.5inch Random Orbital Polisher, can punch high above it weight class among the many expensive competitors. If you want a mid-ranged model that can easily work on your car as a weekend warrior, or if you're planning to start a small detailing business, this might be the best orbital polisher for you.
This unit is built with intention and good planning, it feels good in the hands and is solid. After polishing my 2014 Porsche Cayman S, this is is still basically brand new so I'm confident that it could easily polish 30-50 cars if you want to use it for that.
This polisher does come with a couple convenience options which I think make it especially useful, it's flat on the top side so you can easily lay it on the ground without risk of contaminating your polishing pad, and it comes with a cable tie, among other thoughtful features.
Once again, this polisher is great, and I think it'll work perfectly well for most auto enthusiasts out there. Let me know what you think in the comments.

All beginners that want in on DIY detailing must, MUST consider the deal from Griot's Garage where you get their *G8 & G9 polishers plus some add-ons by GG. Smokin deal for me in late 2023. This complete novice with only a few hours of self-teaching on YT, now has 2 cars with completely rejuvenated paint (not perfect by any means but light years better looking/feeling). *Be sure to buy their 3" backing plate conversion kit as well. NOTE: The supplies you'll need to complete your DIY setup may cost you just as much as your initial equipment investment. But then you're all set! If I can do it, anyone can. Pay yourself, not 3rd party "help." It is way more satisfying DIY!

Great video man! Outstanding quality, great points, and most importantly it’s not 15 minutes long lol. You’ve almost helped me narrow it down to the G9 but still hesitant after seeing some videos and comments about it randomly shutting off. Have you experienced any issues with that since this video?

Thanks man, I haven’t had any problems with that on mine but granted I’ve only used it for one car so far. I have no complaints with it during my limited use!

@@AlexGray Avalon king, a really good product which lasted about 8-9 months parked outside everyday

Amazing review especially if I don’t want to pay someone to detail my car. What happens if it’s used only on a portion of your car? Will the rest match the polished part!?

You can use it to repair small areas of your car too, most people wouldn’t notice one panel being fixed unless the entire car was heavily swirled :)

What is the haze due to? Product dilution?

I'm new to detailing and a weekend warrior. I was to detail my cars at home. Would you recommend the G9 as an entry level polisher or would you go with a Maxshine M8s V2 to save a little money?
@JordanPayneLV
@JordanPayneLV 11 месяцев назад
I haven’t tried the m8 but I think the g9 would be great as a starter one 👌🏻

If there’s haze after your initial pass, you need to go over that same area with a less abrasive pad and compound. Cut then polish.

I had the finest polish I could find, but my PPF is about 7 years old daily driven so I think it's about done for. But you're right that's probably the best idea for someone with new-ish PPF.

I have the G9 and to be honest with you it does a good job but there is a fair amount of vibration that comes from this tool. In my opinion I would go with either the flex 3401 or rupes DA polisher.

Could I use other Pads? Or only the Griot Brand?
@JordanPayneLV
@JordanPayneLV 2 года назад
I’m not sure, but it’s a simple Velcro-type adhesion so I would imagine that you can use other brands

@@JordanPayneLV ok thanks for clarification. Wanted to do some research on the other brands out there & what they offer.

@@_compa_santi_ for sure man! I think this attachment method is a standard things for random orbital polishers! Definitely double check though :)

What is the "Random" feature on this polisher? All I see is that is an orbital polisher...
@JordanPayneLV
@JordanPayneLV 2 года назад
Random orbital polisher means that the polishing pad rotates on two axis rather than just in a circle. So it spins and also moves about 1 inch “randomly” on a second axis to help avoid concentrating the polish too much on one location. Helps keep the heat down on the paint

It is NOT $150 and this guy knows better. The G9 sells for $170 for only the base G9. All pads, compounds, wax, cleaners and assessors are EXTRA.

I got a package deal for $150 that came with 2 pads
