I use a 1.5" inner diameter galvanized pipe from home depot as an axle. Easily handles 200lb + drops from overhead and 500lb deadlifts. You just need smaller diameter clips to hold your weight on since they're 1.9" outer diameter. Of course, when I got one it cost less than a Titan axle. Now Titan is cheaper. They're a solid option too
Good stuff brother! The dead hangs have been a game changer for me! Holding my 260 lb body up for more than 60 seconds at a time is an absolute grip killer, but I think it's definitely helping my grip in my Deadlift!
Using an axle width bar for dead hangs and pull ups are great for grip, a couple of tea towels wrapped ove r the bar and pull ups that way and dead hangs too. One handed dead hangs are great, it helps engage the shoulder into your hand grip.
@@SzatStrength nice. My old Judo/Sambo coach from Kasachstan told me, they would climb the back of their trainingpartner for deadhangs. But I stay with weight vests and dip belts to add weight 🤣
I also use Martins' advice and he recommends one arm hanging L sits which are absurd at his bodyweight and he does them for 30 second sets. Anyway I try to do hangs and L sits to save time on ab work.
Another tip for a quick boost in grip strength or to blast through plateaus : Do trigger point therapy on your palm and forearms. My left hand can lose 30% of its strength if the muscles are too tight just from regular forearms workouts.
Don't forget about pinch grip training, and be it as simple as doing some pinch grip deadlifts with steel plates. Haven't found anything that's better for thumb strength, yet.
Yes, I agree with Joey that all of these are main grip builders and therefore fantastic exercises. That said, for "Gi" specific Training I would add grippers, because of the closed grip crushing strength, which is a little bit different from more opend hand strength. Let me say this again: a stronger grip will help, the exercises mentioned will give you an overall good grip, but I would still add grippers. That said, If you get better at grippers there is a chance that you won't get better at anything else. So it is up to you, your goals and your fatigue management
Did you have those farmers blocks custom made? I've never seen the plates angled like that and it looks easier to add weight and not smash your shins when maxing.
I have what I would call weird grip strength if I’m using a neutral grip like a farmer walk or when I do a hammer strength machine Deadlift which has no knurling and it doesn’t even have the rubber grips on them anymore because I didn’t like them it just has smooth steel I’ve done 800 pounds for a triple on it as well as a 30 second hold with 675 pounds and my grip has never even been an issue with a neutral grip seemingly only reason I actually put it down wasn’t ‘cause the grip was going it was just honestly that painful on my hands but when I try to do a double overhand with 405 I’m lucky if I can get one rep and I have always found that very odd how strong my grip is with a neutral grip but as soon as I turn my hands and go for a double overhand it’s like there’s nothing there around the 400 pound range any ideas???? thanks love the content
Work oilfield and turn wrenches. Voilà...... Amazing Grip strength in a week PLUS BONUS:Forearms that FINALLY match the rest of the deveopled bodybuilder's muscles 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
