I just started the game, but I just wanted to comment on how Tim didn't play the sol ring and the signet on turn 1 and I appreciate that type of gameplay. I do the same thing. A) strategically, it doesn't feel like you're as big of a threat, so you're not going to be in a 3v1. B) It just makes the game a little fairer for everyone, which I often like to do. So I almost never play a sol ring into a signet on turn 1 when I'm playing with my friends mainly just to make the game more fair and fun
yeah thats often the better play then running out your stuff and losing all chance of politics for the early game while jimmy mcgill over there is just innocently playing his 3rd rampant growth and chillin
This just made my day! I can't describe how long I've been waiting to see Grismold on here. Grismold is my favorite commander and the only deck I've ever foiled out!
I think that Fred should have used Justin to kill Tim together since the maze of ith could only stop one of the two bigh threats, I wasn't very surprised when Fred was uncapable of beating Tim after killing the other two players
I had a similar response to this game. I have a Grismold deck too and it's one of my favs, but he definitely puts a huge target on your back especially when tokens start dying. Wasn't surprised that the Marchesa deck had multiple answers beyond the Maze, but that and the Inkshield were all they needed.
i play guff and i feel i need to put in a lot of board wipes, and stuff like cyclonic rift to keep the board clear for walker shenanigans. i feel a little bad since it causes longer games but it does keep the guffster alive. i like the talent interactions with them too. a cool cycle of cards i feel go overlooked
Eh I dunno, Leori is better if you’re super focused on certain kinds of planeswalkers (like say 2-3 kinds) but I feel Guff is a general better catch all (plus he draws cards and deals damage, always a bonus).
Possibly slowrolling not to attract attention too quicky. Can't talk for all playgroups, but usually if one player gets way ahead in mana and/or cards early on, chances are they'll get ganged up on to prevent them running away with the game.
Late response, but I think he did it on purpose to not attract attention. It's pretty common on Marchesa aikido decks to try to fly under the radar so everyone doesn't gang on you.
