My step mother taught me how to be a thrifty shopper. My mom never taught me anything. Ive passed on everything I learned to my kids that are now grown. I think your money is better in your pocket than being lazy shopping at the store. Always look at your local ads before shopping. We only eat what is on sale weekly

Dinner this week? We are going through a really busy time in our family right now, so I have just started a new cooking routine that I absolutely LOVE! I'm off work Mondays and only have one kid home, so I make sure I order groceries online to arrive Monday morning at 8:00. Then I cook ONE BIG meal Monday during the day and one small meal of something fresh (like salad or something that doesn't like the freezer). We have the little meal for dinner Monday and the big meal for dinner Tuesday. And then we freeze the rest. Usually 2-3 pig portions. We will then take out something from the freezer that I made a previous week twice more that week and one day we will have sandwiches for dinner. And that is the entire week's weekdays. I COOK ONCE! Then I have more fun with the dinners on the weekends. But it saves SO much time and money and we still have good food every day!!!

You are truly an inspiration to soooo many of us! I really mean that. I don't write on RU-vid often but I wanted you to know you ARE making a difference in people's lives 💜 I used to adore cooking until about 6 years ago when I suddenly developed a neurological condition, things became increasingly difficult to do due to my condition and I lost some of my passion for cooking. Since then, I have been lucky enough to give birth to 2 beautiful babies (now 4yrs and 2.5yrs). Somewhere between my health problems, looking after the kids and life's other hurdles, I fell into the trap of "convenience food" (unfortunately I'm not just talking about buying pre diced squash 😋) which has taken it's toll on our health, wellbeing and DRAINED our bank accounts. Your video's have honestly inspired me to make a conscious effort to get myself back in the game by meal planning (with MUCH more shelf cooking) and using your productivity tips to help be ahead of the game. Also I just love watching you. You always bring a smile to my face. Keep being you because you are a DIAMOND 💎

Just my husband and myself (no kids yet, praying for it to happen soon) but here is roughly what we’re going to do. We have people inviting us over for dinner sometimes multiple time in a week so we adjust as we need to. Saturday- Pulled BBQ chicken wraps Sunday- Turkey Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and salad Monday- Baked Chicken, Brussel Sprouts, and sweet potatoes Tuesday- Salmon, Quinoa and roasted veggies Wednesday- Leftovers Thursday- Nacho perogies Friday- Going out for dinner. Hubby and I got a gift card for a date night at Christmas, so we decided to use it for Valentines.

I love French bread. Toast it for a snack. Make French bread pizzas. Slice it for sandwiches. Use it for Texas toast. And you can’t beat $1. I also love how you don’t care about freezing food for 2 years and using canned vegetables. I can’t even explain how awful I feel when people get crazy about only eating fresh. We work with what makes our kids happy and healthy and full without going broke and being wasteful with rotten produce.

Dominique Myers I love that they are eco friendly.. They will never be in the cards for me, unfortunately, because the process takes longer with 💩 diapers, and I have a weak stomach to start with. I had to clean up a 2 year old who was eating regular food, but the diaper was explosive. That was my worst memory in ten years of babysitting and Changing hundreds of diapers (many being cloth..) For me it’s worth the money to not have to touch or wash that off the diaper/do the extra laundry/have it mixed in.. I do wish it was easier on the planet though.😢

Thank you sage Jordan for sharing your wisdom. Our family has 2 full time working adults with opposite schedules. It works best for us if I meal plan the week before, batch cook all the meals at once on the weekend, then reheat & eat all week long. This week I'm cooking 6 different dinners and family breakfasts, but only needed 7 ingredients from the store because - HELLO SHELF COOKING! I have over THIRTY of the ingredients I needed already. I'm a believer, and I'll never meal plan differently ever again.

Just had our first delivery from COSTCO via Instacart this week and I just about fainted. Thanks Jordan for saving us so much money, but even importantly time! I'd pay $10 any week to get 2 extra hours to play Barbies and Playdough! 🥰 ***I should add that we live in Hawaii and even though that shop you just did would cost upwards to $500 here, budgeting works everywhere! We just have to eat differently and shop strategically! 😁

We have recently moved and we are an hour away from our closest Walmart. I have been gearing up for this for a few months and trying to transition from once a week shopping to once a month shopping! Our meal plan is planned for the entire month and I am sticking to fresh ingredients in the beginning of the month before it goes bad then freezer items for the end of the month! I love Watching your channel and love to see all the differences!

Jordan can you do a video about how you prepare your house(like food stock up,paying bills etc), your kids(as far as HW,friends moms helping out with car pools, meals etc) for when you give birth? I think that people would love to see how a mother of 6 gets ready for Babies 7 and 8.

I'm a student and don't have a freezer where I currently live. So all my meals are fridge meal-planned. So I usually cook recipes and eat them 2-3 per week, and if I can, make little alterations throughout the week! This week I'm having pancakes (a little treat): with bacon one day, with chocolate the other day. I'm having a quinoa salad with spinach and roasted paprika for on the go. Also, I'm making potatoes with mayonaise, parsley, smoked chicken and roasted paprikas again. Then on Sunday after work I just have a can of soup with some bread. I tend to rotate 2-3 of my recipes and try one new recipe every week.

Diced mushrooms can be put easily in any ground meat recipes, and blended carrots are great in any tomato based things like spaghetti sauce because they also add a nice sweetness

Also a favorite of ours for chicken 2 1/2-3 lbs chicken 5tbls lime juice(I use a 1/3 c and just not fill it to the top) 1c broth (I have used less because I was running low and it was fine) 1tbsp chili(not spicy, toddler friendly) 2tsp cumin 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1/2 tsp garlic +salt&pepper Throw 1/2 a cup fresh cilantro on top in a crock pot and use a hand mixer to shed the chicken, I do take out the cilantro after cooking!

I moved out of my parents house over a year ago to live closer to college. Jordan has taught me so much about budgeting, shopping smart, and eating right. My parents were never financially stable and made a lot of money mistakes throughout their life. I had a terrible relationship with food and money. I just graduated college, I have no kids, and I'm not married - but I can apply the principles that Jordan teaches now and I look forward to using them in the future! Actual freezer goals 😍

What I’ve learned from your videos: you can freeze nearly anything! I moved in with my boyfriend a year and a half ago and we are finally figuring out how to buy the right amount of food for just the 2 of us and not be wasteful. It was hard at first we got so excited we would go all out at Costco and end up not being able to go through the food in time before it went bad. Now we just need a freezer that we can put in the garage for extra storage! We saved $700 last month just on meal planning and not eating out. Thank you for making these videos. I love your channel ❤️

Can you do a video for college students? Like your tips. I’m currently a college student, I live off campus. I do have a kitchen and I want to start make real meals. I want to try to avoid fast food or frozen food if possible. But then it ends being no time or nervousness I might make it wrong (especially with me, I don’t want to make it wrong then end up getting sick). So if you have any tips that would be extremely helpful!

I have like the opposite of your family (lol)....one kiddo, me, my hubby and a dog, and what we have done for almost 2/years now is Hello Fresh for dinners. It works well for us, and I feel like I waste less food and try more things than I did when I meal-planned and shopped each week! Each meal that is supposed to be one meal for 4 turns into 6 portions (2 meals for us). My daughter and I share an adult portion each meal. I am anxious to try some of your recipes when I need fill-ins, though! BTW....I got the plague/flu starting last week, too!! So far, it has only been me that got it, but it has suuuuuucccked per usual. Got it last year, too! Crazy thing is I am the major handwasher in my family!! I must have walked through a cloud of flu at Target or something!! Uuuugghh! Lol! I am hoping to have enough energy to decontaminate tomorrow when Clo goes back to school (flooding/sickness here in TN...school is out today!)

I always plan out a couple weeks at a time. Takes the stress out of dinner time because I know what I'm making. This week we are having philly cheesesteak stuffed peppers, creamy chicken & broccoli casserole, chili, pizza roll ups, zucchini lasagna, and cabbage roll in a bowl. Left overs are used for lunch during the week or if someone doesn't like the meal for that night, they can have left overs.
