Can't believe I have made it to 74 years old and I have never knit a pair of socks. I did knit one sock about 20 years ago, but it didn't fit anyone in my family, so I gave up. The crazy colours and great patterned socks you ladies have been showing make me want to give it another try. When I finish this sweater, I will definitely get some yarn and set of needles and give it another go. (4 or 5 needles?)
I can't believe I managed to knit 5" on 2-at-a-time socks in ONE DAY to finish for your deadline! CRAZY! But I'm still paying the price for it, wearing a wrist brace now LOL! But it was SOOO worth it! Thank you so much Tracie for the encouragement on IG!!! It meant a lot, and kept me going!
Oh my gosh! After spending the last three weeks binge watching ALL your episodes, I look forward to staying caught up on all new episodes. I seriously love you both!!
I love you two! Watching your podcasts is fun and informative. I watched you on Craftsy and loved it, too! Thank you thank you for saying that you will continue podcasting, too!
Jodi I love the look of your Scrumptious Pearl socks. So beautiful. Glad you're keeping them for yourself. I need to add some patterns to my Ravelry library (from the inserted video). Thanks for sharing. Eliza's painting is so sweet. Julia 💙💟💜
Ok you girls are driving me crazy in the BEST WAY. I'm in the process of learning cast on, knit stitch, bind off. I have no business but I have ordered several awesome patterns you girls have discussed. Specifically Shannon Cook and Jane Richmond. Looking at buying Yarn ink and Sweet Georgia. I know I have no business doing this yet but you two have me hooked right in. Since I can't even knit a sock yet for your sock thing I will virtually do it hehehehehe. Love you girls.
Jodi and Tracie! Thank you so much for all your kind words. You are such an inspiration. I love, love, love your sense of humour. You are so kind. And fun.
I'm finally caught up!!! You two are so much fun and I love watching you! I've learned so much too, I've just recently picked up knitting again after a year or so and I've learned a lot of lingo and techniques from watching all of your podcasts that I had never known before!
You girls always make me laugh, love you both. I had missed this one because my phone went crazy, but I'm glad I found it when I got the notification for the next one which I am going to watch right now. Tracy I don't know how you don't bring the whole yarn store home; I'm a cashier in a department store and I want to bring home everything that comes through my register. Yesterday a customer bought 18 eggs for $.99 US and I said I have to buy some eggs. Love your "Off Your Needles" show congratulations on your second season. Yay! 🎉
Enjoy Phoenix Tracie! I'm soooo relieved you both aren't "moving on up" and leaving the GG podcast in the dust... I very much enjoy watching, Yearning, and Coveting the new yarn you show you both snuggle with....
I am so excited to knit my socks now! I am just about to start a pair which I think fit a March theme perfectly!! I am also so glad that you will be continuing your Grocery Girls Podcast, I love it!
You are so funny😄 And soooo right about Denver and the metro area. Sniff sniff, pot smell everywhere! I just started following you. I am a Craftsy fan so I saw your first Off the Needles episode and then had to check the Grocery Girls out. Love love love you both! Next time you are in Denver, I WANT TO MEET YOU!! Pleeeaze?? Have a great vacation and a great week.
Oooh! Thanks for the tipoff about Circus Tonic Handmade Yarns. I'm a Sydneysider, so I've just checked her out. Very exciting. Right, now back to finish watching your podcast. Love you guys!
First I wanna start by saying I love, love, love, the podcast.. Feels like I know you both. And my husband will see me watching your podcast and sometime he'll watch also. It's funny cause, he barely watches television. I just finished listening to The life we bury (Thanks Jodi). Very good book!!!! I'm waiting on Behind closed doors. How about, I'm number 117 on the waiting list (womp, womp!). I'm trying to get back into knitting. I learned both knitting and crocheting at a very young age but gravitated more towards crocheting. Now I'm taking baby steps in knitting. You both inspire me to learn more about knitting, so I thank you both soooooooo much!!
Tracie have a great trip. Jodi I have talked to my husband and have always wanted to go to Banff one day I will go. I have casted on Stephen West shawl clock work Georgia cashmere its so soft. Enjoy your show so much cant wait to hear all about it.
Love that Hannah included a painting from Eliza when I traded with her too, it definitely lived on my fridge for a while!! So cute! (and isn't Hannah's yarn amazing?!)
I just discovered you 2...what a hoot! I subscribed & liked. I love your bags Jodi. I bought one from someone on Etsy last year but that's 'cause I didn't know about yours :( I just checked your shop & not much in there. I love the 'Ashley' & 'Pretty Little Zombies' that you showed on this epi'! Well...I'll be marathoning you all today....had foot surgery so poor me...forced to 'sit & knit'! haha lol :)
Love seeing you so soon, bummed about now having to wait 2 weeks! lol You both need to take photo and / or videos of your trips. Have fun and see you later!
I bought my first MadTosh yarn, it's twist light, color way "Storm Born". I just started my first sock, cuff down, heel flap & gusset, I loved the heel turn..it was so fun! I can't wait until Friday, do you know what time Craftsy is putting up 1st episode?? PS: love all your yarn ladies!!
well hello there beautiful neighbors!!! it would be awesome if you do podcasts everyday even if it contains more of blabbering segments than knitting since I enjoy listening to stories you both share. enjoy your trip Tracie!!!
I find MadTosh DK more of a worsted weight, too. Malabrigo Rios is 210 yards/100g, and Madeline Tosh DK is 225 yards/100g, which I find curious. Either way, I have quite a bit of both, & I love them!
OH can River City Yarns do a pop up shop at the Ann Budd Retreat? Please! It's so expensive to ship to the US, last time one skein shipped was the same cost of the yarn 🤣
HI! Ladies need to know how I can go about learning how to do socks the easiest way! Love our podcast! I just stumbled upon it. Both are charming and make me laugh!
Hi Peggy, We learned to knit socks at our local yarn shop. A class is our favorite way to learn. If you don't have a local yarn shop, the next best thing are classes on Craftsy.com. Our faves, Susan B. Anderson and Ann Budd both have learn to knit socks classes there. Do it!! sock knitting is a blast! :)
Found you via Helen Stewart of curious handmade. I don't normally watch video podcasts and loved what you do. you provide lots of info on yarn and patterns and I'm wondering if there is a show notes section so I can find that info other than when watching your podcast ☺
GG are the best. Just recently found you and I have spent so much time watching past episodes, my back and neck hurt and I haven't worked outside for days. We have a small farm and I really need to be outside working, but I keep telling myself, just watch another 10 minutes, another 10 minutes!!! I don't want to miss a single funny and exciting moment with you two gals. Wonderful and fun show, makes me laugh. OK, have one question. Do you buy new needles for all your projects? I am constantly looking for my needles and feel guilty if I need to go buy another set if I already have that size. Guess I need to get over that. Other thing I think would be so darn funny for your show-have a photo opt of all the bags of projects around you that you are workingn on or whatever. You keep showing all these adorable project bags and I am thinking? Where do they keep all these bags. Where I sit in my chair in family room, it is like I am in a yarn and pattern cave. And I don't have ANYTHING like you guys. LOVE the shows, you are amazing. Now back to watching the shows I missed-heck with planting and pruning!!!
Have fun in the sun Tracie and Jodie stop by my house on your way to Banff and say hello...I live by Calaway Park....lol So excited for the swap partner should be fun!! Jodie your family could have lunch at Spulombos while you shop at Stash.....best sausage around!! Happy Knitting!!
Enjoyed your show. I do have a question. Where did you purchase your wire sock blockers? They look really cool. I have been having a little trouble finding track it's but I will keep looking. Have a good day. Marsha
You guys are so nuts about socks that I feel I must knit some socks. That is one item I've never tried... working a colorwork cowl and a summer sweater right now.
How can ur daughter not like hand knitted socks?!?! 😱😤😮 i would love if someone would give me hand knit socks especially since i haven't learned to knit yet. (Lol im only part way thru the episode)
I need to send you a pic of Josh's legs! Haha! His poor ankles are so swollen...Shrek legs indeed! Also...#noregrets Opal. You need it too. Fresh & Juicy ;) FYI I had to literally run upstairs coming right from interviewing Susan B and Ann Budd to come watch you ladies! MWAH!!!!
How lucky for Josh to have you knitting custom socks! Foot/leg issues are no fun...we can appreciate that! Also....HUGE HIGH 5 on the Opal haul!!! OK....you're so so SO LUCKY to be with our knitting idols this weekend! Will you pass on a big hello from us? Have a fab time!😀💕
Yes! Totally passed on the hellos ;) Also, Josh watched this episode and we are both DYING. He said quote "that he is happy to bring awareness to the TENS of people that suffer from large swollen ankles." ;)
