I have an eskie as well, actually named Juno also and I have to treat her the same way you did. They're such dramatic dogs and they try to manipulate your emotions because theyre so smart. You kind of of just have to not feed into it and they stop. Idk why people think they know everything. 🤷🏽‍♀️ haha, I had to really watch this video because I really thought this was my dog you commented that you've been grooming her 7 years.

What brush are you using around six minutes in?

Is there a spray you recommend just to maintain the whiteness of the coat?

OMG, you NEVER cut an Eskimos tail! What are you doing?!

I do what the owner wants. She used to get a puppy cut and then she started growing her out with just a trim all over.

I have had 3 Eskies, only one that had a very horrible groom job. NEVER again. If that's what the owner wants, then maybe get a short-haired dog.

@@katiekatez84 Sounds like you need to educate your client on what type of dog they have. Or tell then to get a short haired dog.

@@lynnellis7736 You're so right, the owners should unhome their dog and trade it in for a short haired dog because you disagree with the tail trim. Imagine uprooting a dogs home life because of a tail trim. 😂

hi can you suggest what’s a better razor to use to groom eskies? I groom my eskie coz no groomer wants to do it coz he nipped and bite especially when his hair gets pulled. He only trust me so I am learning to do it myself. Would appreciate some recommendation, tips, etc. Thanks

If you wanted to take hair off but leave it long then use an E attachable, some people are against taking hair off of double costed dogs but after grooming 14 years I’ve seen it all so just do what’s best for your dog 🐶

She acted just like my mollie! Very dramatic dogs. I sensed no hostility from either party and honestly, if she was that scared she would've acted wayyyyyy worse. Especially American eskis! I know for a fact my mollie would've been allllll over that table the minute the comb pulled her hair just the slightest bit. 🤣 American eskis are pretty yelpie when in distress and very shaky. At least mine us. This one looked to be irritated at the hair pull but it wasn't the groomers fault. It has mats and needs worked out. It's no different than your mom pulling your hair while brushing it! It's gotta come out. But I also don't think it was even pulling the hair that much. It's just how the breed is. Very dramatic. Like the comment below.....very dramatic 🤣🤣

That's a warning face, the scrunched-up nose is her warning, for some dogs it might be followed by a growl... Be careful around dogs that keep warning you

There is no F'n way I would let you touch my dog & that's putting it mildly. You seem totally detached to what she is feeling and why. You are not sensing, feeling or understanding her fear. You don't understand why she is making that face? It's not because she's being a "tough girl". It's because she fricking scared & it's very stressful to her! Don't take that so lightly. I sensed no empathy from you. It was like emotionally there was a wall between you & you couldn't feel what she was feeling. You acted as if the dog is just a cute thing to make money off of that it's a time is money situation only. Like it's "just" a dog. A good groomer will make sure to add plenty of extra time to go slow, gentle & connect with a dog like her & make sure they are not pushing her too hard or hurting her in any way. Physically or emotionally. They will build trust with her & learn how to groom her without making her so uncomfortable. They will not be forceful and may slow it down a little as well. I had an Eskie like her & the first few times it took the groomer an extra 1-1.5 hours but the trust, understanding & comfort level was build and from then on my dog was totally at ease. She wasn't afraid & defensive and was instead affectionate with my groomer. If you have worked with her correctly a few times you shouldn't have to fight with her at all to do her nails either which can also make it easy to accidentally cut the quick. My last Eskie would literally scream like her foot was being cut off until I brought her to the aforementioned groomer & then after those initial longer sessions she was totally at ease & didn't fight the groomer at all. It's very frustrating to see you not seeming to understand what she was feeling.

I’m not sure what part of the video you sensed no empathy but I’ve been grooming her for over 7 years every 4 weeks and she’s always been like this for me and her owner as well, when it comes to brushing her neck area. Groomers use silly names sometimes like ma’am or tough girl but they don’t know what we’re saying they only hear the tone in our voice and I feel I treated her with respect and empathy, and she is also a friend of the family so it’s not about the money she’s very low priced so clearly she’s not just a cute thing to make money off of. I’ve been working with animals for over 20 years and I’m animal control so I’ve dealt with dogs like this my whole life. This was about a 2 hour video cropped down to 7 minutes long just to show the basic steps of grooming her.

I don't take my Eskie to a groomer because he honestly doesn't need more than regular baths, brushes, nails trimmed, teeth brushed and feet/butt/tail trims. I can tell you, as loyal and loving as he is with me, he does not like to be groomed and it took a long time to get him to the point where he'll tolerate it. Spitz breeds in general hate being told what to do, Eskies especially. However, you are correct that it takes a LONG time to build up that level of trust and comfort with a groomer. My Sheltie, on the other hand, needs more than what I can do for his coat as he's a little bear. Luckily, he sings for his groomer and is a little gentleman.

@@chandamara, I agree. I groom my Eskie myself because of the disaster that happened with my first Eskie. I didn't even recognize her and we were both depressed for weeks. And, I would never cut his tail down or trim up his legs. I want my Eskie to look like an Eskie. They have all that hair for a reason. Mind you, he flips and flops, but we do get the job done.
