Recommend hand raking the soil and breaking it up where the damaged grass is at before laying this down, I did this and then applied a little top soil on top to help weigh it down a bit so-to-speak and it worked like a charm.

Good details. I think it would be good to repair larger areas. I think for smaller patching a small amount of black dirt, seed & racking it in would be faster.

I'm going to try some of this, I've got patchy bits one dog digging the other dog peeing. An awful lot of garden birds too, pinching grass seed. Worth a go anyway. Thanks for your video, really clear and helpful.

Looks like a pretty decent product so far. Guess I'll give it a try. Im in Jersey and have extremely sandy soil so this will be interesting to see. Nice job with the flag design by the way 👍.

I agree, I'm happy with the results. Definitely helpful for seeding bald spots. They recommend throwing some top soil out and raking it in prior to watering it in. I did it a little and it seemed to take off even with my minimal prep. Thanks for the compliments man! Enjoy the weekend

I just bought a small roll of this stuff and put it in a painter's pan for test and if it works I'm going to try to build a lawn at my house in Lake Tahoe.

Nice! I really appreciate this actual use review. Thanks for drone shots, as a filmmaker, I appreciate that. Also, NEAT mowing pattern! P.S. from what Im reading about grotrax it seems you might have had to clear the areas before applying ;-) looking good tho!

Thank you! Yes I was a little lazy with the prep work, but it still worked pretty well. I wish I would have mixed in more top soil and cleared the areas, but it's all good. The product definitely works well

Where you have the grass burn dig out that patch and put fresh top soil then the grass seed patch on the area that should help.

removing and killing the clover is part of the issue.. clovers help the grass grow and keep the soil nitrogen rich..

You can supplement the N though. Clovers are not pretty, but I get your point

Check the label for each, but in a decent garage/shed climate you should have at least 16 months or more before it slowly loses quality. The company claims even more if kept in proper label conditions

Thanks for the great review and videos of the progress. Do you think it would help to put down some top soil or compost first if you have dips, as this would allow for a more even application? I just moved in to my first house and there are lots of patches and minor holes.

Thanks! Yes, top soil will 100% help. Go ahead and get it spread and fill in those holes before you apply

Yeah 1/4 to 1/2 in would be plenty. Rake the soil underneath as well to loosen it up for root growth

@@BtwilliasGarage thanks this place sells it by the "yard" but I'm nto sure what that means. I'm looking at 1500 square feet do you know what that would mean in "yards"? It seems like 2.5 cubic yards would be what I want but I only see people selling soil by the "yard" lol

@@JohnQ85 google a picture of 5 yards vs 10 yards and you will get a good idea. Assuming their measurements are correct. It can be rough measuring and some places cheat

Does the green sheet dissolve after time or would I remove it? How long does it take?

Would this work on sand? I was thinking of adding compost soil on top the the sand and then applying this.

Yeah, but you might want burmuda grass if you have sandy conditions. They have that too

Yes if you keep it wet in the initial stages it should do great. Make sure you prep the ground so the material touches the soil nicely.

Ideally in the spring or fall when soil temps are near 60, but I found it grows even in the summer heat if you keep it watered often

Yes, I agree and briefly mentioned that in the video. Although this was more of an extreme test, the product still grew. I'm happy with it and imagine it would do even better on properly prepped soil. Thanks for watching!

That doesn't sound good. You may have existing weeds that grow through your fabric. How long since you rolled out the GroTrax and started watering daily?
