Ground Hunting Strategies for CROSSBOW HUNTERS!

My PA hunting this year is going to be ground only. Here's a look at my plan, as well as some scouting tips. I welcome your feedback and suggestions!
This is not a channel about shooting big bucks. I don't discriminate--I'll shoot any legal deer. ;)
I want to help make RU-vid the #1 place for quality hunting entertainment. I want to help spread the hunting lifestyle. To do that, I set up this channel to showcase the crossbow and help others film their hunts and get those videos online. So, subscribe to this channel to be entertained and learn more about crossbows and filming in the outdoors.
This channel is about my love of the crossbow, hunting, and the outdoors. I hunt almost exclusively with the crossbow. I love it. Sure, like a lot of kids, I started hunting with a good ol' Model '94 Winchester 30-30 back in the 80's, but drifted away from hunting when I went off to college, law school, and started a family. As my daughter got older, I regained my interest in the outdoors, and I consider myself lucky to hunt on the same property today that I hunted on as a kid. I got the Excalibur Axiom crossbow in 2010 and I haven't looked back. This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...
...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere.

Thank you so much for your videos. This will be my first year crossbow hunting. As a matter of fact first time doing any archery hunting. Watching your videos over the last year is what motivated me to do so.

Great video. When my dad and I hunted in michigan . We always made natural ground blinds from fallen trees, logs and misc plants that where in the area. Since I moved to florida. I mainly use treestand and tree climber. I do own a ground blind but havent used much. Mainly do to me hunting in cedar swamps and other wet locations. Best of luck to everyone this hunting season

I just started hunting last year. This year I am taking my 17 year old son for the first time. We get the opportunity to go out next weekend a week early for youth season here in Indiana. He is, we are, really excited for this opportunity. We have been watching your videos this year to prepare, they are very educational. @Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 5 лет назад
I love his stuff, I have done that in the past and I am going to do that this weekend most likely. I put it where it is so that I could check it without having to stand between the tree and the licking branches. I can simply reach around the tree at this height. I'm going to replace it with a quieter, newer camera as well.

@@Deathbybunjie Buddy of mine just bought 5 new cellular cams to replace all of his standard cams so he doesn't have to enter his property to check the cards. Not a link system so he will be paying $10/mo/cam for the cell coverage. He paid $150/cam. He's not right in the head. (A little Braveheart reference there) I have been using Bushnell cams since I started using cams 8 or 9 years ago. Never had a single issue with them other than one being eaten by a bear. Battery life is excellent and the picture quality is great. Like a kid at Christmas when I check an SD card!! Amazing to see what is actually walking around when you're not there. Anyway, new crossbow target should be here any day. Put the string dampeners on the Whitetail II. Had to make some adjustments to the scope afterwards. NO big deal but the crossbow was shooting about 3 inches to the right after I put them on. Big difference in sound though. I don't do FB otherwise I'd send you some trail cam pics. Be happy to treat you to a DD iced coffee next time I roll through your area though!! ALL HAIL BUNJIE!!!

Not sure if you're allowed in PA, but you should use that stump to make a natural salt lick... Saw a video here on RU-vid about that.. seemed like an awesome idea. Some places once the salt is dissolved into the stump it isn't considered as baiting..
@chrisc353
@chrisc353 5 лет назад
@@gregstabryla9945 Understood, but using this method you can do it between seasons and eventually the stump itself becomes the salt lick and can be considered natural, not baiting. It is actually really clever
@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 5 лет назад
I am on a better-safe-than-sorry side of this, and I think when the Game Commission says we have to remove all residue, and residue is the word in the statute, they mean that the stump itself would have to be removed if you can't otherwise remove the residue. For that reason, I don't use things like stump licker anymore or anything like that. I just say better safe than sorry. I am totally okay with mineral sites that can be removed more than 30 days before the season, however. If it were legal, I would keep them out all year long. But that's me!

@Deathbybunjie
@Deathbybunjie 4 года назад
The scrape beneath the licking Branch will become evident this month as activity increases, look for those. If you a nice trail, look for branches 42 to 48 inches high, they'll likely be using them. You'll see broken branches where bucks worked them too hard. You'll see rubs on the surrounding trees too. These things usually show up all in the same place from what I've seen.
