Thank you Cassidy and Ferdi. I myself have let the weeds grow too long in my own garden this year, to the point that it seems like an overwhelming task to even start. In the course of this conversation something in my perspective has changed and no longer seems so overwhelming. For this I am grateful ❤ Btw I'm not being metaphorical, my garden is literally full of weeds☺
I enjoy how although this is a serious topic, that you guys have some silliness and humor with it. I have just discovered this in myself. In my pursuit for meaning i was taking myself to serious and therefore it was making it harder to connect to my friends and wife. Nice pod!
This is so good. Thanks for doing this. Ferdi is one of those people in the Corner who sees things very closely to how I see. When he’s talking, I’m often thinking, YES! The resonance is wonderfully deafening.
it's interesting how often tolkien keeps coming up everywhere I look, it could easily be that people that have somehow found Pageau or Peterson be interested in drawing from the simbolism of Joung or Ortodox christianity, and yet again and again it's tolkien that keeps poping up, and it's often drawing from the myths in the silmarillion instead of the novels, it looks to me that Tolkien's work is finally doing what is was intended to do, it's becoming a real mythology for england. Some day, hundreds of years into the future there will still be people speaking english and they'll say they're descendants from the english who descended from Aragorn and Numernor. For the people who think that's silly, just consider that Numenor and Aragorn are stand-ins for the real city and king from the real myths that got lost long ago.
Ukrainians and Ukraine supporters have basically adopted the Lord of the Rings mythology as the mythology of their War. 💪 I'd say it's more that alive & well, it's in the process of trying to be embodied by a lot of people, consistently 🙃❤️
2 immediate thoughts: The point on 'always knowing I could make it' . That resonated deeply. I think that's the part of us that flags a voice like Peterson or whoever when we hear it. But that doesnt make it easier or guarantee victory. Ive had that sense and it keeps you going...but it can still be a long slog. I loved the point about sin being the moment of coming into harmony or union. Thats a reframing that strikes me as important when considering discipline and tiny steps back onto the path.
We have so much cultural repression of not talking about some of our most important experiences, like the weeds infestation for example... No sarcasm. We all have been in that place. One way or the other. 🙃🏆❤️
