Peppers are a big favorite of mine, I really like the taste and intoxicating aroma when cooked, they just make any dish better and they are beautiful. I planted 'Redskin' myself, also bought mixed color. I can't wait, I'll be happy if my harvest is half yours. Lovely video as always.

In some videos, you use black 3 inch containers. In this one, you use the green ones. Have you noticed any success in growing health of the green vs black containers since black attracts more light, hence more heat, which may not necessarily be good in hot summer months.

@bridalgalmulticulturalbeau1345
I planted a pepper plant I bought at shop rite didn’t say anything about purple peppers just peppers. To my surprise when they started to grow they were purple right from the beginning. I didn’t know there were purple peppers or never heard or seen any. I thought my plant was sick. Bit I let it keep growing. I’m glad I did! Wow gorgeous. I started doing research…. after seeing this video… the rest is history! Love this video.

Enjoying the videos! Quick question: with any bell pepper (red, purple, etc.) how do you know when it is ripe? Are you looking for the whole fruit to be a uniform color and/or firmness, or is it just trial and error?
@juanarosa-gonzalez6705
@juanarosa-gonzalez6705 Год назад
Although purple peppers are edible at any stage of growth, harvesting once they develop their full size for the specific variety and develop an even purple color ensures the best quality. To retain the purple color, they are harvested before they begin to show any red, orange or yellow spots, which usually develop first near the stem end of the fruit. Once a purple pepper begins to develop its mature red color, it quickly changes and loses most of the purple color that makes it stand out. If the stems of the peppers begin to turn black, the fruit is about to drop from the plant. This shows the pepper has stopped growing and adding flavor and should be picked before it rots
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden Год назад
You are right, usually it is the color and shape. You can pick one and if yo think still has more to go, leave the other on. Don't worry too much, you will know by picking few of them in no time. Happy growing and thank you for your comment!

It is possible. But younger seedlings will handle transplanting shock better if they are gradually introduce to final growing place. Also, they are more prone to disease when very young. But it is doable. It is up to you. thanks for visiting!

Please what causes peppers flowers to drop mine has lots of flowers but they keep dropping 😢
@TowardGarden
@TowardGarden 3 месяца назад
Sorry to hear that. It is hard to tell without knowing the details. It can be due to several reasons: Lack of light (shade area), too hot or too cold, high humidity, over watering, lack of nutrients, or pest fungal disease. If the plant is growing tall and not fruiting, probably it doesn't get enough light. And make sure you feed them with a vegetable fertilizer. Also, try to shake your plant (gently) during flowering to increase the chance of pollination. I hope this helps. Thank you for visiting!

How do you treat pest problems associated with pepper? Mine has a beetle eating up the leaves and causing flowers to drop.
@TowardGarden

For pests, my 2 choices are neem oil mix and spinosad. Both are organic, but spinosad works great on many insects including leaf eating pests like leaf miners, caterpillars,...Monterery garden insect spray is one of the good choices, I have listed it in my amazon page here www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-3dd9a3b6/list/XLDNRZO26ESK?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d . @Toward Garden,why is the on the far right containers has sprouted a red bell pepper than the usual purple ones,ha?. Some sort of fluke of nature?.
@Angotha
@Angotha Год назад
Just like bell peppers start out green and turn to yellow, orange and red: Light that enters the plant is converted into chemical energy via photosynthesis as the chlorophyll breaks down yellow and orange becomes visible. You have different chemical changes that enrich the yellow, red or organge colour. All of these have health benefits so it's not a "fluke". It also depends on verity and ripening of bell peppers, they all have different processes.
@TowardGarden
