I put one small plant in my koi pond and with one season the plant became the biggest elephant ears I have ever had. Koi also love to eat taro root.after a hard freeze in Houston which killed my plant I left the roots in the pond. By May those elephant ears are about five inches in diameter and very green.

I planted Mammoth and a Diamond Elephant Ear in a Pot near the end of April. They are actually thriving. I am so proud of them. My only concern is the winter time. I live in TN in zone 7 and I dont want to bring the pots in this winter. What can I do to ensure they will come back? They are just growing so nicely! Help!!
@TheThriftedPlanter
@TheThriftedPlanter 3 года назад
I would def keep them dry and covered if possible. You can wrap them with burlap and fallen leaves. The most important thing is for them to not stay wet all winter.

hello, great video.. I would like to know how would you control humidity in the house for them to grow?? Also, do you have any progress video like every two week? How long did it take to see the growth from the bulb??
@TheThriftedPlanter
@TheThriftedPlanter 2 года назад
I don’t do anything to add humidity to them. I do keep a fan running. This year I am seeing growth at one month. Now that mine are growing above the soil I’ll do more updates

My bulb had a very long green stem when I purchased. Do I keep the long green stem below the soil or above the soil? It has been above 80 degrees. Can it grow out on our little balcony in a big pot with drainage? thank you so much
@TheThriftedPlanter
@TheThriftedPlanter 3 года назад
Yes, leave the green growth above the soil and it will be so happy on your balcony!
