Great video! Just got a Click and Grow and the first thing I was wondering is how I could use it without buying the expensive pods from them. Thanks for the video and the link for the net pods!

Thanks for this video! I plan to buy my mom this for Christmas and wanted her to be able to grow her own after the basil it comes with grows.

No problem! The main thing is light and fluffy soil, or it will get too compacted for the roots to grow through. Wish her good luck- I hope she loves her gift :)

This is a great video. Thank you for taking the time to share it. i am growing lettuce in the very small click n grow right now and it is doing excellent. But I don't know if it is worth the cost. I am planning on getting the larger click n grow soon and was wondering if I could plant my own seeds. Your video really helps.

In my opinion, the cost of the click and grow is not worth it to buy their pods (for certain things). So, absolutely try some of your own stuff! I hope it works out well for you! It was trial and error for me, but a penny for a seed was worth the experiment (vs the $20 pods). Have fun! :)

Do you use 2" or 3" net pots?

The soil will dirty the water. No aeration. Modify a bit to make water through aquarium tube.

I haven't had an issue yet. Aerator is a good idea, but if you are looking for something like that/more complex, I would highly suggest getting an Aerogarden, and not a Click & Grow. :)

I wonder if Leca would work better than soil

Do you ever clean the bottom of the click and grow unit since you are doing it yourself? And if not, should you or should you not clean it?
@ontariogardening
@ontariogardening 7 месяцев назад
I do a clean in between plants. So, once my plants have seen their day, I drain the water and do a clean before planting the next batch. Because the click and grow doesn't have aeration below (like the aerogarden does), the water can get quite murky. Never had an issue with it smelling though. I hope that helps! :)

I tried this and the 2 inch pods will fall right through if they tip at all..
@ontariogardening

Yes, they will fall right through if pushed too hard. I haven't had issues of them falling on their own, only if I put too much pressure. I haven't tried the 3 inch pots; maybe they are better? I just don't want to recommend something I don't have personal experience with. :)
