Mine blooms once every year and I do nothing to it but keep it on the kitchen table next to the sliding glass door. When the leaves die back we leave it alone on it's own and in a few months the flower bud emerges and we start watering it again. Right now we have a flower out and 3 more right behind it. This bulb is about 6 years old.
Be sure to save your bulbs after they bloom! I repotted my amaryllis and a couple of years later, I noticed it had two small bulbs on each side of the original bulb. And later, I noticed more small bulbs. It is not low maintenance, it's no maintenance!
If you live in a warm climate, plant them in the ground. We live in zone 9b and have them planted in our border gardens under some high shade. They come back every year and MULTIPLY LIKE CRAZY. We started them in 4 different places and each one has produced around 8-10 more small bulbs. It takes a couple years for them to get full size, but the small bulbs still flower. They're just a smaller flower or have less flowers.
Take note . They usually advised you to grow them until they expire and die out so you can buy new ones instead of keeping them forever. Blessed are those who are intelligent enough to know the good and the bad advice :)
Thank you!! A lot of great tips in a short video. Others should know that there are other ways to get more bulbs by cutting the bulbs in quarters, etc. See propagating amaryllis bulbs (several methods). it's easier than you might think.
I have a research on my amaryllis flower. There are relation between plant growth like sum of leaf with the flower. But, unfortunately my flower bloom first without any leaf. Can you give me a reason or explanation about it? Why my amaryllis bloom without any leaf. Thank you.

Some amaryllis go dormant after they've had leaves on them for a while, so maybe yours didn't die but just wanted a rest. When re-potting use a very well-drained soil, so even if it rains, they don't stand in water. And, unfortunately, there is a pest called narcissus bulb fly. If this gets into your bulbs you have to treat them with an insecticide, and you still may not be able to save them. I too grow plants in memory of my mother. Even if you can't keep the ones she herself grew, you can get more just like them and know she would be proud of you and happy that she added to beauty in your life.
