OMG thank you!!! I used to live in GA and would eat these wild but i could never remember what they where called. YAY! now i can plant my own :) thanks!
the wild muscadines arent the same as scuppernongs these scuppernongs get big over an inch in dia.about the size of a 25 cent piece also must have gold and black for polillination
Nice looking Scuppernongs. I live ion he St. Petersburg area and have Carlos growing at one end of my grape arbor and Higgins growing on the other end. Higgins is not self fertile and it took about 10 years for it to start producing, but was well worth the wait. This year I planted Ison's 1511 - Sweet Mix and Darlene. As another poster stated. Scuppernongs are so much better than the grocery store table grapes.
i just happen to have about 75 im trying to root this feb 27 -21 good to start putin pottingsoil i cut these ist week jan in buckets just alittle water in garage to keep from frezing. will take 8-10 weeks sometime yuo ess leaves first then if you are lucky roots
I got some now! I bought them from some farmers that's come from Mississippi to Tennessee, they set up on a corner by a church. I bought mines 9/1/22 and they are so delicious and juicy .
the scuppernong skins have a medismal value big drug co use the skin to make anti ageing med .and others so the skins are good for you ive noticed on some of these grape tapes they pick too quick about 1st week in sept i wait till 15 sept really sweet then also they fill soft if they are firm they arent ready
Do I need to refrigerate my seeds 4 a few months before germinating? My son lives in Atlanta Georgia and bright the seeds to me here in Indiana. I know I will have to grow them in my Greenhouse, but I wondered should I refrigerate first?
I never had a chance to plant the seeds. I am pretty sure they can be planted right away and don't need stratification/cold treatment. Probably won't hurt to try it both ways. Let me know?
