I started Lupines, it does say perrennial on the packaging, so I was under the impression that they wouldn't bloom 1st year. So now I can sow the rest of my seeds now!! Some are already started last year
@GardeningWise
@GardeningWise 2 года назад
Some varieties bloom first year as my seed packet said that if started early enough, they will. So I started them in January.

I just planted lupine!! I'm in 8b north central Florida, and I soaked the seeds 1st for faster germination, I read somewhere about lupine being able to go dormant in the winter, we never have snow and I feel that they will be protected, so I try many things, just to see, I haven't seen anyone soak the seeds 1st but they come up quickly from the ground and 4 days ago sowed

Bless you! My instruction seed packet said to sand them down. I have been sitting here sanding these seeds down for the past 1 hour and no more than 20 seeds out of 1 ounce seed packet were stratified. That's way too much time wasted. I'll be soaking the rest. Thank you!

What do you do to protect these lupins from slugs and snails? I sowed seeds and the slugs ate some of the seedlings within 2 days. If I manage to save some of the seedlings until it's a mature plant, how do I save it from slugs ? I want to plant them on the ground by Sept-October. I started the seeds in July first week.

Hi there, very good video! I’m a new subscriber, love watching your videos as you show growing flowers with results! just want to ask, It’s my first time to grow Lupins from seed, but I started them last August, they’re good size now in individual small pots, should I plant them out in the garden/bigger containers now or wait over winter? I’m in Ireland, we have mild but wet winters here. Thanks 😊
@GardeningWise
@GardeningWise 2 года назад
Lupins are perennial and can survive over winter in milder climates. But if you don't want to take risk, you can overwinter them indoors. Younger plants are tender anyway. Thanks for watching and your lovely comment.

It noramally rains a lot here. But if weather is dry and hot for few days then I water the container plants every day.

Do seeds need light to germinate?
@GardeningWise
@GardeningWise 2 года назад
I buried seeds 1cm deep in soil and I had good germination. So I would say not necessarily.
