Come with me as we look at ornamental grasses I have growing at both my house and the store. The Landscape Connection 4472 S. Mulford rd Rockford, Il 61109 www.thelandsca... / thelandscapeconnection...
Love that you initially give the name of the plants. . .then again after you present the detail of it, you always again repeat the name. Other gardening channels give the name only once before the details then (if I like it) I have to rewind. Thankyou!
Love ornamental grasses. I have Cheyenne Sky and Mr Goodbud sedum planted 1 year ago. Grasses were tiny but by keeping them well watered during the long periods without rain here in Iowa they have grown to about 3 feet. Lovely. Wish I could attach a picture
I love your animation in these videos. You bring a smile everytime. Thank you for sharing, I never really thought about having a grass, now I will.!! 💖💖🎶🎶
Thank You for one of the best videos I have seen on ornamental grasses. You give very important information such as the the meaning of a cool vs. a warm season grass. You also talk about the hardiness zones and temperatures. ( but I did have to google, when Memorial day is. LOL ! ) Very important info for the plant to survive the winters ( I am in Northern Europe. ) It is also very appreciated that you name the plants by their correct Latin names, so I can do further research. Not every country and language have the same name for a particular plant. Also fantastic info on the growth size relationship. First time I have heard that being expressed. I already spend so much time and energy digging up, dividing and replanting perennials. I am getting too old for so much work. Don't want to move incorrectly positioned plants unless absolutely necessary.
I've been searching for a clear and concise video about grasses. I love them, however there are so, so many to choose from, and I had no idea there were cool and warm season grasses. Thank you!!☀
Great video. I just found you and subscribed. This is my first year gardening and I am in zone 5b Colorado but it has been a disaster, most of what I have planted has either died, been eaten by rabbits and squirrels or just not shown much life. I planted 5 different grasses back in May and here it is August and they have not shown any growth at all except one that has done well. It surely is a deep learning curve. I am planning on doing some more planting in September, is there a grass that you could recommend for an area that gets only afternoon sun and will be drought tolerant once established
Wow great video on ornamental grass. Your knowledge is truly appreciated. For some reason I’ve always killed grasses in my yard… it’s good to know they should not be fertilized. TY!
Thank you so much for this informative video. I have clumps of extremely over grown warm season grasses, and finally I know to replace them with cool season grasses to avoid the dreaded middle die back.
I love the texture ornamental grasses add to the garden. A few of the varieties you highlighted are in my zone 4 garden. I saw a great pairing displayed at my garden center of Karl Forster and nepeta. I'll be duplicating that look. Luckily, I can shop in my own garden.
Another very informative and fun video. I absolutely love your enthusiasm and truly useful info. You’re witty and funny too. I want transition many areas of my gardens to drought tolerant things. Grasses will be an absolute staple👍 Thanks
12 years ago when we moved here, they had several grasses planted. My husband dug them out because the copperheads wanted to live under them. So I'm not allowed grasses, and I'm ok with that.
If they are in a pot the rule of thumb is they need to be 2 zones higher than the zone you live in. I don't know about cut back if fall or spring is better as I do not grow grasses in pots...And water, i'd say at least once a month unless they are frozen solid....I have never over wintered them in pots outside. If we have grasses left not sold we cut them back and hold them in a cold frame hoop house.
Thanks for the video. I love the movement that grasses bring. My favorite now is Japanese Blood grass. We are about 90 minutes south of you and wonder if you have any.
So my hubs likes watching your videos with me now 😅 I wondered what the pink flowers behind you. I use grasses allover and just split 2more this summer for new beds. I also bought a white striped smaller grass that is a spreader but I use it in urns and flowers as needed.
@@gardeningTLC I am zone 6a and can plant Gaura as an annual but I have never seen pink. It really popped in the video and I have a garden bed that is distant and needs flowers with heighth. Did you grow it from seed?
No. I ordered it in from my annual grower this spring...they sold like hot cakes....i found they did better in the ground than a pot though, at least for me.....wish they were perennial...i have white perennial ones, but not pink.
