Climbing vines especially fragrant ones are just great for sunny patios. Jasmine for example. Trouble is I don't like to leave them for the frost and it's murder dragging them in when they've established and run wild with flowers during the summer. Your obelisk method is so frugal seeing that the metal ones are expensive. These would work fine for tomatoes too.
Hi, I am Ravi from India. I have a doubt regarding climbers & creepers. We have a wall on our building which is empty. It is a ten storey building. Should we plant from roof or should we plant from floor? Does the roots of climbers and Creepers expand the same way as it is expanded in trees? How should we guide the climber & creeper so that it does not go sideways?
Most climbers will only be happy in containers for 2/3 years, depending on the size of the pot. Honeysuckle and larger clematis are really only happy in the ground. Pots will need watering twice a day as they dry out very quickly.
