This video is mostly about eating and drinking sugar cane not so much about growing it.

Yeah you might wanna be careful with the straw. The hay and straw growers are using a lot of grazon these days and if your straw came from a field treated with it then your bales will have it. If that gets into your garden it won't stop your seeds from germinating but the damage to the plants will manifest around the 2nd or 3rd set of leaves. The plants will be stunted and unproductive and the residual lasts for years.
@inharmonywithearth9982
@inharmonywithearth9982 2 года назад
It is not biodegradable and they spray it on at harvest to kill the hay and grain nowadays ( topping) so it dries super fast because it is dying from hormone disruption. You are right it is very bad stuff and even survives to kill after going completley through a cow's entire rumen system!
@annellacannella5674
@annellacannella5674 Год назад
Yes. Grazon is a scourge. It wouldn’t hurt the sugar cane of course. But it is a persistent herbicide that would affect the figs and the artichoke. Who knows what it is doing to us! Of course the company that makes it can’t be sued for damages due to high powered lawyer speak, but you can go after the poor farmer that grew the hay/straw. ……so messed up.

Split it and boil it. Also if you split it then boil it, then add a little sugar it'll all crystallize for homemade sugar

I’m from Louisiana. And I’ll say that the first thing you do is peel the skin off of the cane. Then chew and suck the juice out of it. It will make it easier on your juicer too if you go that route.

Wow can't believe you can grow cane in your zone, that's awesome! I recommend peeling the cane before chewing it. And get a manual sugar cane press, it's a lot less work than a juicer

All thanks to you listing it on your spreadsheet last year, I got some delicious red sugar cane this year. Got all the nodes rooting right now, I need more next year XD I'm not a drinker and I have a different kind of sugar cane so I dunno how yours tastes, but regarding your drinks, I personally thought it would go quite well with coconut or pineapple. Some kind of daiquiri or colada maybe..? I also imagine there are some wines and sakes that would go well with a cube of cane

Get more fruits and make a mexican fruit punch, sugar cane is easier to chew after boiled and it will absorb the other fruits flavor. The most traditional is to use dried plum, guava, tejocote, apple, hibiscus flower (jamaica), cinnamon sticks, and the sugar cane. Boil that in water with piloncillo or brown sugar for a while and serve it in cups, with a spoon to eat the fruit. You can also put some Brandy on it.

I live just north of Toronto. I have been looking up sugarcane production and I came across your video and about 4:29 you show how dark the sugarcane liquid is. I saw on another video that from the sugarcane Leaves or the outside of the Kane was boiled down and the extract from it is molasses. That is why it’s a dark brown color. I think I am zone 5b or 5a and if I can’t grow sugarcane outside I will try it as a house plant thanks for the video❤

Hi seems amazing, I gotta try it - just a quick thought about the juicing process. Wouldnt you be able to put the whole canes into big bags, with emptied out air so it has a lot of room to expand if needed, and then with ur car slowly drive back and forth over it, without making the bags pop and then filter the juices?

Plus after the plant done fruiting and collected, collect the leaf, to make infusion for people with diabetics.

Health Benefits of Sugarcane Juice: The antioxidants in sugarcane juice help to fighting against infections and boost the immunity system of the body. Sugarcane juice also acts a good digestive aid due to the presence of potassium. Studies show that sugarcane juice protects against tooth decay and bad breath due to its high mineral content.

I guess the thief on the cross didn’t make it into heaven then, without baptism? Jesus saves us… trusting in him is how, not baptism. Baptism is important. But the Bible nowhere says that remission of sins takes place at baptism. It takes place when we trust in him. Otherwise, Jesus wouldn’t be able to keep that promise to the guy beside him on the cross.
