Growing Tomatoes in AeroGarden | A Few Tips

You cannot just grow any huge tomatoes in your AeroGarden. Your best best is to choose microdwarf tomatoes, or varieties that fit your model.
Here's what I'm growing and a few tips.

I love your set up! I've had 2 units for 2 years now. Now I've got to find some micro dwarf seeds. I grew the tomato plants the kit came with, but had to constantly trim the plants. This year I started most of my garden plants in the units, and just moved the plants to my little outdoor garden.

Thanks! This video is actually pretty old. I have expanded again. It's an addiction for sure. LOL! And it sounds like you were the unlucky recipient of a bad batch of seeds. It has happened a couple of times. They should stay short like the ones in my video.

Thank you for the real life comparison between 2 or 3 tomatoes in a harvest. I am about to take cuttings and set up my 1st 360 and thought that I could do 3 because it's shape would give them enough elbow room.

Wow! Your set up is so impressive! I've been torn between investing in a grow light and an aerogarden for tomatoes exclusively. Your video is so informative and you sound so knowledgeable. I love your updates and tips. I also got some micro dwarf tomato seeds from Renaissance Farms. I'm trying Yellow Micro, Moment Micro, Pinocchio Micro, and Venus Micro in a couple of my Bountys. Great channel, thanks for the videos!

How many seeds do u put in each pod? I may have trimmed the plant too much , the plants are tall and spindly. The flowers fell off. What am I doing wrong ? Thank u

Baker Creek only has one variety of micro dwarf tomatoes. That is what you need for an AeroGarden. All they sell is Orange Hat. I will tag you on a post in the group about tomatoes that fit.

I have a few peppers growing now. Just 9 plants. I will post an update. It's nothing like what I had outside though. I had over 40 varieties outside!

@@littletechgirl2 Right now in my aero garden bounty elite I am growing 7 pot reds and dragons breath and chocolate bhuta peppers so those 3 plants are doing ok I think I need a better Fertilizer.

In conclusion you should plant only dwarf cherry tomatoes not like I did with "yellow pear" variety and add solution B for hydroponics

Actually you want to plant micro dwarf tomatoes. Dwarf describes plants that can get 3-5' tall. But no, you definitely don't want to plant indeterminate plants. I thought I said that in this video. If not it is certainly in my article that I linked to in the description. And solution B??? Not all hydroponic nutrients have A and B solution. That is common with off brand units and only certain brands. Some are only one all in one nutrient. For example... AeroGarden nutrients, MaxiGro, and MasterBlend. Those do not have A and B solution. So that is not accurate info.

@@littletechgirl2 me too. Mine are in the ball park of 28 days old. Mine moves quite a bit. It will reach up towards the light. With a gentle touch the leaves and branches lay down. But two hours later they are reaching up again. It's fun to watch. I should make a time lapse video. Does yours do any of that?
