One of the easiest and most beginner-friendly houseplants to work with, which produces beautiful looking growths and does so in an incredibly short timespan. It's really difficult to kill off as well, though people should remember to be moderate with water and avoid watering the leaves directly, as they hate moisture and will instantly start to rot the moment they get wet.

Not sure how you would make a tradescantia into a bonsai lol. As it is a trailing icy houseplant not a tree. A tree is what you would make or should I say prune & train into a bonsai.

This looks a lot like the Tradescantia Feeling Flirty (from Proven Winners) that I got from Home Depot. The leaves on mine are smaller, though. My gripe with the ones I've seen at Home Depot and Lowe's is that they seem so crowded in the pot. It was nearly impossible to get a finger down to the soil. I guess that's where a moisture meter would come in handy. I found the least crowded plant, but I still think it might need to be split up.

I’ve watched so many videos on propagating these and I’ve had crap luck. I don’t overwater my plants but it seems like my cuttings just get mushy and don’t grow roots. I’ve tried propagating them this way as well as in water. All these videos say it’s so easy so why do my cuttings just die?

Let your water sit out in a pitcher for 24 to 48 hours so all chlorine evaporates, or use distilled keep a light on it for minimum 8 hours. Change water out every couple days and it should get roots.

I was kinda shocked since most cuttings root well in water but here we are....

@mygardenchannel
@mygardenchannel 2 года назад
Lack of water, so the leaf is drying out. Too much water will cause brown spots, rot. Or the leaf is just going through some winter dormancy and natural shedding like a tooth, new branches grow out from under the existing leaf. Hope those 3 examples help you... maybe not enough light as well... give it a few hours in the sun and let the soil dry out before watering
