In this episode i explored what it means to me to grow up as an Arab in Western Sydney. I have learnt many lessons and seen various patterns in the Arab culture. I discuss the good and bad things about the culture. This includes: gender roles, reputation, collectivism & individualism, independence in an Arab household and the pressure to be married and successful at a young age. Please keep an open mind to what i say and understand that this DOES NOT relate to all Arabs, it is just my own personal experience.

Do you see a change in the culture since you are the next generation? 1900's America up until late 1980's given the various women's movements along with change in racial and gender equality was similar to the "bad" things in arab culture. Women stay at home, don't need jobs, cook, clean and raise the kids. Men would do whatever even though 1900's Americans were conservative Christians. This era of america was also not pro mental health. I am not arab myself. I am an African American who enjoys history and cultural studies. I do not know about the arabs still located in the middle east, but do you think Arabs growing up in the west will change how they treat the men vs the women? Love your content, keep up the great work.

Growing up as a half white half Moroccan guy in America i fully understand the one thing a little annoying about our Arab culture is how nosey people can be but I love the community and family culture

Thank goodness my Arab parents do not align with the olden Arab culture norms. We are practicing Muslims, but do not adhere to toxic Arab culture traits... people love to use culture and religion interchangeably
