This is the grundfos comfort system which is most commonly used in domestic hot water recirculation. It can also be used for various open and closed loop hydronic and radiant heating applications as well.
The system is well suited for existing construction and can be easily integrated without the need for running a separate return line.

Will this pump work with a tankless water heater? I have a rinnai ruc98i. It requires 0.4gpm to activate the burners.

Recently had a power outage, and suddenly the hot water is taking a lot longer in many parts of the home. I reset the power and turned the switch OFF/ON. Still did not fix the issue. Is there any thing else I could troubleshoot before replacing the pump. It worked great until this week.

I’m still trying to understand this as it came with my house. I had cold and lukewarm water and kept raising the temp on the water tank. It was then I noticed the pump and plugged it in and turned it on and now have scorching boiling water. So I’ve lowered my water tank temp now. Now I’m just trying to optimize when to use it and how many times in a day I should turn it on. I’ve heard some people on other sites saying keeping it on all the time will quadruple your energy bill? Is that true?

If you're looking to be cost effective, we'd suggest that you only run the pump wen you truly need hot water during the cold season. Ideally you'd find yourself running it for a couple of hours max. Hope this helps!

I had a plumber install one of these hot water recirculating systems recently on my new construction home and I have not noticed any reduction whatsoever in the amount of time it takes to get hot water and any of my faucets. I then had the plumber install additional comfort valves at additional sinks in my home in hopes that would help but still no improvement whatsoever. Any ideas what could be causing the issues? I am using a regular tank water heater and my water pressure is approximately 80 psi

Do you also have a piping manifold system for your house? I'm not a plumber but it could be problematic with a manifold system because the may need the comfort line for each sink.... plausible... I would love to know if anyone else has tried it before

I think the problem is that the newer Water heater comes with heat traps and that causes things to not work properly.

I've had one for about 4 years and now- worked great. Recently I'm getting hot water from my cold faucet. I'm thinking it's a valve problem. My question is: is the valve a part of the pump? or is it the valve connector under the sink. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Control valves should be located on the same equipment or pipeline as the measurement and downstream of flow measurements. The valve connector under the sink specifically are the fixture shutoffs.

Good Evening, It's the comfort tee. When the ceramic disc inside ages eventually it fails to swell anymore to close the manifold and the hot water pushes to the cold side. A new one should fix you up. The part number is 00595926 and should be available at Pex Universe.

Can the pump be activated upon detection of flow? If so, how long will it run? Also, can the programmable time have more than one setting?

Joe: Good point. You can buy a fow detection sensor and wired to the pump.

@@ajarivas72 Flow switches can be put inline for sure. The programmable function of the 00599388 will let you program the timer in multiple intervals. An aqua-stat clip on 00595444 should be used with this timer as well.

I installed one of these in a customer's home with the manifold at the furthest corner of the house away from the hot water tank. The manifold is in the master bath where she was complaining about not having hot water quickly for their morning shower.Now she is complaining that her "kitchen faucet and washing machine don't run cold water very well". These locations are physically closer to the water heater. Does anyone have any ideas on this problem?

The bypass manifold actually lets hot water from the hot water line flow into the cold water line through the bypass manifold. The pump pumps hot water through the bypass manifold into the cold water line back to the hot water tank through the cold water line. In doing this you are actually putting hot water into the cold water line, therefore when you turn the cold water on at a faucet in a different location you need to purge all of the hot water that is in the cold water line before getting cold water out of the faucet.

I have a tankless hot water heater that has worked great for 6 years. It has a Grundfos hot water recirculation system that installed with the tankless hotter heater. The system worked perfectly until a few weeks ago. Now we are getting luke warm water. A few days ago, a plumber replaced the "T" under our kitchen sink (for $600 plus) and increased the water temperature to 125 degrees. Everything seemed back to normal when he left. Unfortunately, now we are back to getting lukewarm water. Also the issue seems to be worse in some faucets. Any ideas?

It's hard to say. There can be a variety of other issues causing the hot water to decrease. Anywhere from a Gas Leak, Heater Malfunction, Failing Gas Valve, Malfunctioning Thermostat, etc. might be the culprit. We recommend getting a second opinion.
