The pump does not get installed at the fixture, the pump is installed at the water heater. The Comfort Series pump kit comes with a tee that is installed at the furthest sink fixture to allow hot water to seep into the cold water side, providing hot water quicker to that area.

Or maybe you have $300.00+/- around burning a hole in your pocket. There is no reason for these pumps to be so expensive. Except that these companies just want to gauge you.

Is it normal for the pump itself to heat up quite a bit when operating. When I touch the pump it is pretty hot and wanted to know if that is normal.

Since comfort pumps are pushing hot water (anywhere between 100°-140°) it will be pretty hot/warm to the touch. If you're able, put a thermometer and see what it's running at, that would be your best bet. If it's over 140° call the manufacturer to double check that everything is working smoothly. If you suspect the pump is going out of order or may need attention it's always better to make a phone call and double check while any problems still remain fixable.
