A PC in my home network changes MAC address automatically every time is it blocked by the router. Can Gryphon prevent MAC address spoofing?

Chen, There is a setting to block all new devices so even if it gets a new MAc address it will be blocked. The Iphone will change Mac address everytime it is reset so I need to go in and approve its access each time. You may want to take a look at the settings of the PC to see if there is something there where you can disable the changing of Mac Addresses. Unfortunately, the Automatic address changing will become a much bigger problem with Cyber crimes moving forward as tracing will lead to a mac address that could end up being your device.

Can't you just give that one specific device a static IP address? Instead it being given generated ip address periodically from the router

Hey Liron, I have looked at the Griffin before but what about on youtube. Can I block roblox or a RU-vidr, but allow documentaries and sing alongs?

I need a router that can handle my house. My router is in our office, my bedroom is upstairs far away, most times 2 bars. I want a device that will be all bars in every room. Is this possible? I looking at Gryphon router ac3000. Or would these mesh devices work? I don't need parental controls.

I have the 3000 and I can say for certain that the signal has significantly increased throughout the house. The smaller devices can be used to extend the signal, but at a slower transfer rate. Depending on what is needed for your specific home the slower speed may not be an issue for most situations. The smaller units will work with the 3000 and can extend the signal to get you all bars throughout the house. I have a 3000sq 2 story home, Gaming devices were hard to connect to at the far end of the house with older router, I now can connect without issue. I would say the range in my home would be about 35 feet 3/4 to full signal and I still get signal in my Driveway. Gryphon does recommend to have a second device for the second story though I have not yet tested the signal strengths in my home on the second levels.

One more thing, if parental controls are not needed you will be able to find other mesh systems that will extend the signal throughout the house. Just research and see what is needed for each brand and the cost of a setup for your home.

Jesi, I have this system and so far it has not blocked things like netflix on my Xbox. I am still looking into this to see if I am missing something. I am assuming a smart tv would be the same.

@@chrish7336 hey 👋 I ended up going with Circle, and have been able to block RU-vid on tv’s as well as just pause the wifi going to that tv and other devices.

@@JesiDavisBuildingaSimplerLife We had the Circle (Gen 1) Kid figured out how to get around it very quickly and then eventually just totally destroyed it. Being we were having network issues after that we spent the money to upgrade to the Gryphon. Gryphon is supposed to block all of that but not sure if I missed something in the setup. All in one.

Not really. Laptops, wifi tablets, chromebooks, desktops etc. All use wifi. So do printers, dorrbell , camera systems, smart home, tvs all use wifi. Phones have limited data plans in most countries. Eve. In unlimited data plans you get parental controls via your isp. So not useless after all.

Liron Segev most if not all young people have smart phones so they have an option of wifi or data from their carrier. What I’m saying is they don’t just rely on home wifi to get the internet.

@@vek679 agreed. That's what I said in my reply. If you use your phone at home you arf on wifi. If you disable wifi you connect to the cell data. That is usually limited to a data plan capacity or is unlimited data. Either way, the isp gives parents way to manage their kids data usage too.

Liron Segev I agree parents can control the pre teenage children with phone data usage. But I think a lot more teenagers nowadays have more freedom when it comes to data plans. The internet is a great thing for information but also has some nasty stuff there as well. No perfect way to protect the vulnerable but any technology that helps is a start.

Newsflash: you can't do this with every router. Newsflash: most people are not tech savvy so it's for them. Newsflash: parents typically want a simple solution and no Mac address blocking and dns filtering. But hey, your "contribution" is much appreciated 🙄 😂😂😂

Try setting up granular per device bedtimes on an ASUS router (that aren't in a nice hour block, such as 11:10PM), and then get it to actually break all existing connections (e.g. Discord, a newly started drop in COD: Warzone) at the time you expect it to. Spoiler: You can't and it won't.

Liron is right you can't do this will all routers. I have had 2 routers with supposed parental controls built in and neither of them worked after a month. Of course the makers of the routers new the problem and didn't want to fix it. So not all routers are alike.
