If you are looking for the best parental control router of 2021, look no further than the Gryphon AX!
I have tried all of the other top routers of 2021 and will do a full VS comparison to those very soon. Here is my full breakdown of the Gryphon AX Wifi 6 Parental Control Router. I also compare it to the other Gryphon models currently available, the Gryphon Tower and the Gryphon Guardian.
Included in this review is a tour of the changes in the Gryphon app for AX, so you can see if it's worth the upgrade. Also featured are the Gryphon router parental controls settings.

Thanks for this review and thanks for showing the details of what the parental control app includes. It’s so hard to find this type of information when you’re looking at routers.

Hello. Great video! I'm planning to buy Gryphon AX as my base router however will it be possible to use my existing TP-Link Deco X20 for Mesh or Access Point?

Excellent video thanks so much! Can you confirm it is possible to ONLY use 3 Guardians (no other router)? Also, will the older models get the new software features you described for the AX?
@FamilyTech
@FamilyTech 2 года назад
Yes. You can use 3 guardians with no towers. Many features will come over, but a few probably won't.

How well would this work with the Starlink router?

How do the user profiles work? How does it know whose device is who’s?

I have to keep the wifi router I have, so I’m wondering if this can be an additional router? Someway to connect them? My internet company has the fastest wifi but the worst parental controls ever.

Thanks for the review, could you also clarify if this router supports a VPN setup directly on the router? Something like open VPN

Question: For the Parental Control App, can controls make changes while remote? For example, say the kids are home and the adult is out at dinner. Would the adult be able to block/unblock the home Parental Control from their phone app remotely?

Is openDNS necessary with this router?

Hello Fam tech, Would you know what I need to have control over the use,content and schedule of my teen's gaming PC, console and his iPhone? I want something that will handle about 4 hardwired units which can handle speed. I also need open wifi for the other family members mobile phones and a few tables and laptops. Also, how is the tech support with guardian? I'm very disappointed with my cable company.

Is this device a standalone, or does it work best in conjunction with a Bark or NetNanny, or something like that?
@FamilyTech
@FamilyTech 2 года назад
This device is standalone for the network, but I always recommend adding more layers of control.

What do you recommend everything for pc protection for teens? I’ve heard a lot about phones, tablets etc but not a physical computer connected via a network cable (no wifi)?
@FamilyTech
@FamilyTech 2 года назад
You can still set limits on wired devices through the Gryphon. However, I would also use Microsoft Family Safety on a PC.

@@FamilyTech I have to comment here, great overview. I saw an interview a while back with Bill Gates who was asked what does he do to limit his teens. His answer. Teach them to self-manage and be open about it. My kids are in high school now and when they were younger parental controls were pretty useless or not available. There have been a few issues here and there that we needed to discuss openly when they went where they shouldn't. I log where they go and that's about it . If I see something odd we discuss. . Kids WILL find ways around parental controls. It's best to teach them examples in the news where kids get into serious trouble. They get it. People really shouldn't be setting and forgetting it with teens. Younger kids sure, I think this parental control is a good idea until about 8 or 9 years old but if you cannot openly talk with your tweens and teens ongoing about being internet streetwise, you've got bigger problems.

I have the previous model. Unfortunately the app is very unreliable and support does their best but never fix issues.

I bought this thinking it would replace my xfinity modem we rent monthly. Please clarify what you use for a modem as the gryphon ax does not provide internet to 3000sqft on its own.
@nikereebokpuma3406
@nikereebokpuma3406 Год назад
A router and a modem are 2 completely different things. A modem provides your internet.....a router is for home networking.

@@nikereebokpuma3406 This was not my question. I am aware of this. This was the question .... "Please clarify what you use for a modem?" In other words: What modem do you use?

The amount of people that think a router alone will give them internet surprises me. 🤦

I’m confused, I have an xfinity router. So I would have to remove it and put this in? Can I use both somehow?
@nikereebokpuma3406
@nikereebokpuma3406 Месяц назад
@@JahlenJohnson11 IF you have a Router/Modem from xfinity....yes...You can add on a Router. A router does not give you internet, Your modem is what that is for. A Router is something you would add to a Modem to extent your home networking. Most of the newer Modem's from ISP's are both Modem and Router. With this, You would add a router to "extend" you internet service. "WIFI" though out your home or business.

how does Bark Home compare to Gryphon AX?
@FamilyTech
@FamilyTech Год назад
They do not comp. It's like apples an oranges. The Gryphon IS a wifi router. The Bark Home plugs into your current network, so you would need a router for it to work meaning if it gets unplugged (the bark home) the internet still works. That would not be the case for the Gryphon.

I bought 2 towers 3 years ago. They worked great at first, now every single hardware update makes them worse. They don't have any protection at ALL now. Customer service is less than helpful.

I purchased this for the parental controls, but my teenage son figured out how to bypass it on the first day. If he presses the reset button on the router and holds it for 15 seconds, it will unpair the phone with the parental controls app, rendering them useless. The router will then allow all previous connected devices to access the router unrestricted. When i pair my phone back to the device the next morning, all the users and restrictions have been wiped. Useless

The browsign history really does not work. It shows you anything that has cookies on their device, so it is not effective for tracking activity. I don't believe there is a whitelist ability for homework time either, which makes it not very useful IMO.

If you are really into the speeds there are plenty of channels that will give you all the specs for various products. My channel is specifically made to help those that don't care/don't even know what the numbers would mean.

Bro to the average family it doesn't matter lol. They watch casually tv shows and movies. Only nerds like me are into specs and numbers
@simplespiral

Really Sonderklasse?!? I would say, as Crivoh said, only nerds like me are into the specs and numbers; most families I help out don't care about actual speeds as long as they get the access they expect. There is nothing wrong with focusing on a specific aspect of a device, in this case the family protection and parental control, and I appreciate not having to skip through the technical details to get to the information I searched and found this video for.
