Thank you for clearly explaining everything in this video. I’ve seen a few others while disassembling this thing and they were not clear on how to do things such as winding the spring a rotation and such. You were by far the most understandable teacher lol
Thank you for this video. I had watched one for the 522 I believe which had the older plastic strip of dummy rounds and I wasn’t sure if I put mine back in the right way. My mag was jammed with live rounds when I took it apart and all the rounds live and dummy came spewing out rapidly once I took the neck off. So far I can’t say I’m a fan of this drum mag. It’s a pain in the butt to load and one jam and your done.
I had the same thing happen this weekend! Sounds like there's 20 or more live rounds still in it, even though I loaded it properly. This is only the second time I've ever used it and now I guess I have to take it apart.
after being forced to use only 5 rds with center fire, im actually content with 22 rds so i have no need for a drum. i got 4 box mags if one jams, no biggie just sway to another.
Their is a general purpose household cleaner called "Simple Green" that I use to clean most of my guns and magazines. Its good at removing old grease and carbon. It doesn't have fumes and it wont irritate your skin. Works great on steel and plastics. DO NOT us it on aluminum. You need a special formula called "PRO simple green" to clean aluminum. I don't know if it's available in Canada. If you can find it, it's good stuff.
The screws need T10 and T6 size star (not hex) bits to remove them -- got that info from another video about disassembling this drum, and tried it for myself and found that these work.
Thank you. Bought the drum new a few months ago, went to the range today and jammed after the 1st round . The 4 screws that hold the drum together were way to tight. Hopefully this will fix the issue👍🏻
That viedo was very handy because i bought one and then proceeded to toy with it - and it jammed thus i've had to remove the neck part to unjam those plastic rounds becuse they missaligned and jammed inside the neck - and this vid was very helpfull in making it work again.
Me too having issues can load a few then it acts like its not being taken up by the drum rotating at the bottom I first used 80 minimags hv 40 grain CCI 22LR and it fired ok next time tried the non waxed Remington Viper Federal American Eagle and Winchester Super Speed as was recommended ny GSG same problem funny thing is the minimags work with some skipping spaces again while the recommended ones dont .
Ive bought one and i have a very weird issue with it - when it's loaded i can insert it into the gun but as long as there are rounds in it i CAN't remove it xD - i have to dump all the rounds out and only then it will disengage from the gun xD i wonder what might be causing this issue :D It apperars that as long as there are rounds in it - the release level ain't working all the way in to release it. i have two normal mags as well but those work okay - loaded or not i can remove them at any time. Other than that i'm quite pleased with it :D because dumping the 100-rds down the range is quite fun :D
@@gnutzguy Ah i totally forgot about the clip release button on the right side xD (i've been using only the lever so far) - i will try it on the range - because i don't want to toy with live rounds at home :D - and i don't have enough .22lr dummy rounds to test it safely at home (i've got just the one that came with the gun :P)
@@gnutzguy Huh i've checked and YES - with the button on the right side it does release the drum :) - due to safety reasons i was testing it on the range but yes - if you cant use the lever then your only hope is the mag release button :D
@stardudez 0 seconds ago @gnutzguy I now see only the CCI Round Nose 40 grain work with some skipped spaces also when it hits a empty you need to charge the bolt and maybe drop the mag out which is a pain as I have the Ruger 10/22 one with the goofy tab on front of trigger guard as you need to lock it back to put mag in and take it out no last round bolt hold option ! But I am getting the parts to make it one Also I have the BMF rotary crank ( which also works on the Mossberg 702 only 24 rd mags) which is a blast on this gun GO GATLING and a PROMAG 55 rd mag too. Note to use the BMF activator on the Mossberg you need a 23 mm long tab ( the longest one supplied is only 18 mm ) make out of a wooden popsicle stick. Have fun note 10 and 25 rd mags shoot quick every turn of the crank fires 4 shots
My drum keeps sticking whenever i turn it to load, sprayed oil and it actually made it worse, no fkn idea how… seems like i’ll have to take it apart. Any idea what i need to clean or oil that could be causing that? Thank you!
if you got it new then probably the dummy rounds, check for burr. if you bought it used then check the attaching piece to the center shaft, that is not bent bcos it tends to rub against the body
@@gnutzguy It's weird, the only thing that fixed it was loosening the screws so the shell plate doesn't push against the spinning wheel. Now all my screws are kind of sticking out but it spins. The second i tighten them it pinches the wheel. No idea how this happened as i bought it new and never taken it apart before.
CCi Blazer works very reliable with that mag, Gecko's semi - tend to to get a fail to load (but 1-2 rounds per 100 tend to jam so they seem okay) - i've had problems with plated Aguilas (failure to load tends to make a dent in the plated projectile and i've had to dump 2 out of 50 rounds), and the czech's Sellier and bellot also seemed to jam occasionaly. So far CCI blazer seem to be the best ones at least for the clip i have :) Heck after buying a shotgun im thinking of buying another one of those clips they are really fun - but man the ammo goes down quickly with one of those :D Im starting to think that buying 1k ammo might be a good idea :P

@@gnutzguy yeah not going to lie I’m pretty upset. Not your fault, but definitely wish I just left it be. Not sure what I did differently and not sure what to do now.
@J C It's been a minute since I did it. If I remember correctly, I started with the outside of the spring by putting the hook of the spring into the plastic housing, then slowly fed the spring into the center. If that doesn't work try the reverse of it by starting with the center lining up the plastic pieces in the center of the spring then slowly feeding it to the outside and then placing the hook into its slot. Like I said it's been awhile since I did it so I can't remember exactly how I did it. Hope that was right tho
@user-te7br3qd1s yes I eventually got it back together. What a royal pain in the ass that was. There's a method to it. Can't quite remember exactly how I got it back together but it sucked.
lol... the black dummy rounds are there to fill the neck bcos the silver piece cant move up the neck so if you lost a few then you can always use the orange ones.
i shoot one of those yesterday - and i will tell you that it can be very fast to load when you know what to do - heck i would go even as far as to say that you can load box of ammo 50pieces faster into that drum than into two normal 22mags. That said if it jams then it is a headache to unjam it. But the look of other people at the range when you proceed to dump one of those down the range is preeeety sweet :D
i always under load as not to put too much stress on the spring, for the regular mag, i put 20 and a 100 on the drum. also its easier to keep track of the count
I bought one of these drum mags a while back but due to work have been too busy to load it, or go shooting for that matter. Today, I brought it out to load and didnt even get 10 cartridges in and the damn thing jammed. Absolute piece of crap; yes, well built but absolute $#!T. And of course, bought too long ago to bring to Cabelas as I no longer have any idea where the receipt is!! Avoid this waste of money...
ive bought one and i was shooting with it yesterday - and i was pretty amazed by it - that said it's a drum and there is a reason why armies dont like to use drums - because yes drums are less reliable than box mags. so by buying a drum mag it is understood that at times the reliability issues might pop up and that is nothing new. i've noticed that as long as you load it properly aka not to allow to make a big gap by rotating the spring mechanism too much it is quite reliable because there is not enough room for the dummy rounds to missalign and jam. Heck at first i was toying with it and did just that and it jammed even without any real rounds - so yes proper handling of it is quite important.
