GSG 1911 22 Disassembly 

In the UK they are used for general plinking and IPSC shooting, as we aren't allowed normal handguns we have our own LBP (Long Barrelled Pistol) division that people run them in. It can be a bit cumbersome but we make do with what we have!

@@Gunroomtv it's a cool work around. I tried searching for ipsc videos using them and there are few and far between. Would be awesome to see what they are like in a match compared to a normal handgun.

I purchased mine in early 2022 and discovered that the gun CANNOT be disassembled as described in this video. The barrel cannot be removed by pulling it out of the front. There is circular ridge about 2" from the end of the slide on the inside and the barrel can not get pass this obstruction. In order to remove the barrel it is now necessary to first remove the firing pin assemble. Then the barrel can be removed from the back of the slide.

So I recently had my firing pin break on me. But it was due to my stupid @$$ placing the leaf spring incorrectky when I disassembled and reassembled for the first time. Mind you I have had thousands of rounds thru it and maybe as much count in dry fire practice. So the pin should have lasted even longer had I installed the leaf spring correctly. However, the way the pin is design does make it look like it should not be dry fired. The part the protrudes out the rear if 5he slide that the hammer strikes broke off and snapped right where the too and bottom section of the pin near the rear. That's on my long 5" government profile slide. My short slide for the 922 has less rounds but not much less is still going strong. So can you dry fire the GSG 1911-22? I typically try to have a wall anchor snap cap to absorb the firing pin and I think that does help a lot.

We've never had a play with the Accurizer System, but it has good reviews and it certainly can't hurt to upgrade the other parts too!

As far as we know they aren't being made anymore, but you could try Black Rifle, think they used to sell them!

They are around £550 new and most will only be granted for target shooting as a member of a club, but there are rare instances where they are given for pest control. Thanks for the kind words!

They are mainly for aesthetics but do play a small part in the balance. We personally prefer to remove them and remove the weight on the coat hanger too so it balances up again.

@@Gunroomtv I have just purchased a second hand GSG 1911. How to go about removing the weight from the end of the coat hanger?

@@Jamesy1993 It's best to get an RFD to do it as there can be some funky laws around how it's done!

If you remove the slide there should be two screws on the inside of the frame that can be undone to remove the pic rails. Any problems get in contact with @bluefieldsports and they'll help you out!

They aren't really "braces" like in the US and our pistols come with them from the factory to comply with UK law!

@@Gunroomtv thanks for info. It looks like an interesting item. Can they be applied and removed readily by the individual? Can they be purchased separately ? Here in us we can obtain various braces etc but right now it is a big controversy and they may be outlawed/regulated. HOWEVER i think gun owners are going to win our case. Curious as to that “coat hanger” is attached to pistol grip? Anyway thanks again for response and apologize for rambling on.

@@MrDcdave2 We've been following the US brace debacle and it is very similar to our pistol restrictions! Our Coat Hangers can't be removed by the individual, only RFD's (FFL's) are allowed to take them of for maintenance and repair.

@@Gunroomtv you guys gotta work on those Hopefully Canada never becomes so restrictive. Can anyone without criminal record and a license buy it? What are requirements to purchase said handgun. Do alot of people in uk own handguns? What about criminals, do they have easy access to handguns in UK?

@@royalloyalty8248 It's really complicated here, but basically, if you don't have a criminal record AND you are a member of a club for 6 months you can get a license and then buy rifles, shotguns and pistols. We are not allowed anything semi-auto unless it's .22lr or smoothbore (shotgun). Pistols have to be over 24" in total length with a minimum 12" barrel and can either be .22lr semi-auto or centerfire revolver. We are also allowed black powder pistols (nitro these days) that can be less than 24"/12", as in normal size. There are loads of other laws and various other exceptions. Our gun crime with licensed firearms is incredibly low, it makes up less than 1% of total gun crime in the UK. The criminals have relatively easy access to illegal guns, same story as the rest of the world!

@@Gunroomtv same in Canada (about gun crime); licensed guns and owners represent less than 0.001 of the guns used in crime. 99% of them are smuggled from the USA.
