@@wishoeguy I google about them, and find some posts on style forum. They say, the dainite was to stiff and impossible to break in and they don’t belongs to dress shoes and so on. In my opinion, every guy needs an black Oxford; but when you more into other styles, then the rubber soles are a good choice for these Oxford’s, because of versatility. If there is a occasion what calls for these shoes (wedding or funeral) and the weather is wet or it’s snowing, there are lots of benefits.
True. I’m if the opinion that the profile of the shoe is what matters for formality, not when you cross your legs and show your sole (unless a tux). Since Dainite is a low profile like a city sole I don’t think it matters much. However I also like the feel of leather soles better. They also give the style more options with beveled and fiddleback waists, enhanced finishing etc. both have their place. I’m about 60% leather but just like the feel more.
I have a pair of Carmina shoes in the Rain last but am considering buying a shoe in the Simpson last. They recommend upsizing 1/2 size for the Simpson. How would you compare the Simpson to the Rain?
I think the Oscar is between D and E width on the US standard so it’s more accommodating than forest if your foot is a little wide. The toe is also different. The forest has a high toe but the Oscar has a bulbous toe but then has a slimmer vamp. If you have a very high volume foot but not wide you’d find the Forest a little better. Both fit me well in the same size.

Just made my first purchase of Carmina shoes. I got the double monk strap 80250 forest last in brown vegano. Are they true to size or do they run small or large? Cheers! 🥂
Feelings are mixed. I would say insteps on oxfords run large but sizing is a little on the short side. Each last is a little different but if you have a low instep you should reach out and ask about specific lasts with your feet. They can help.
I don’t know them all but Detroit, Oscar, Forest, Rain, Simpson. Most sizing guides will compare to one of these. You do need to note that some lasts, especially on MTO have different widths. Rain has a D (Narrow) EE (like a US D) and EEE (like a US E). When in doubt email the store for support. The sales person I worked with in NYC answers the email and is very very knowledgeable. I’ve also emailed the general box for sizing advice and they were extraordinary. They really offer great service. I don’t want to take that for granted.
Great Video. Is there a noticeable difference between the fit for the Rain last versus the Forrest last? I was a bit curious about that. Most of my Carmina shoes are on the Rain last, which fits perfectly. I have one pair of loafer on the UETAM last, which is a little tight at the instep but fits everywhere else. Any information that you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Due to lifelong Orthopedic problems and the need to put orthotics in my shoes, I went to Carmina's store locally at 45th St. in New York, hoping I could get fit with a quality pair of dress shoes that I could fit my orthotics into and wear comfortably. Instead, I was met by a pushy salesman who was just hellbent on selling whatever they had in stock. When I got home and double checked the Detroits he had sold me, I saw that my orthotics were in fact cutting into the sides of the shoes, and would in no time be damaging the linings. Although I could probably get a perfect pair of custom Carminas for myself, I can't trust this company anymore. I'm just taking these shoes back.
