UFC legend Georges St-Pierre shares his thoughts on a potential match against fellow UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, and they're not-so different size inside the cage.
I love specialists like Perreira, Adesanya, Khabib, etc. But I think nobody embodies the spirit of MMA better than guys who can do it all like GSP and DJ.
u can’t pretend like u didn’t mention Bones lol😂 that dude is the complete MMA fighter, never seen someone that big and having skills like Jones. That dude fights with every part of his body and is good standing and in ground!
@@biggiewhite FRFR, im not a huge Jone Jones fan, he makes it hard for me to be. But if you like combat sports, you cant not respect the fact that no human on the planet has a fight IQ like Jon Jones. Thats his super power. The dude finds a way to win. EVERY TIME!! If he could have just kept his reputation a little cleaner and not got popped a few times for steroid use, He was absolutely in my argument for Greatest of All time with Anderson Silva, GSP, DJ, and Khabib.,
GSP is my favorite of all time because he is respectful, realistic, and trained his butt off to get where he was. He is the type of champion you raise your kids to be like. Respect, he is the GOAT in my eyes.
Demetrius Johnson I'm guessing is a close second then for you probably. He's a great guy and always challenged himself despite fans not enjoying him in the ufc. From what I remember he even had 2 jobs and sometimes did streams on twitch. To this day I feel bad by the time I got into watching cards he went to one (only reason I watch one).
Perfect! That is why NO ONE likes Floyd Mayweather Jr. He doesn't give props to any other fighters. It's just him. And that's why he will never be the best of the best. Game recognizes game.
Literally why Khabib and Chimaev are great. Even if I would have really like Chimaev to stop trashtalking (that s even what khabib told about him btw).
@@blackflag6976he means when he fought at 170. Thats only cutting 13lbs. Most are cutting 25 to 30lbs. That pits them close to yhe 200lbs he's talking. Khabib weighed around 179 when fighting ar 155.
@@ryantogo8359us who train and fought can decide who is p4p best. If you look at skill set and who they beat, gsp is top 3 all time, he outwrestled the best wrestlers, beat jiu jitsu guys and, best strikers. He avenged his losses and came back and won a title in a higher division by outstriking a striker and subing him after a 4year layoff. He won in the prime of the division.
@@bigwheel9132how about the data and facts they GSP is only second in title defenses to DJ, who fought in the most shallow division ever while gsp was in the most stacked division. How about the fact gsp never failed for peds like jones or Silva
Gsp and kamaru would be an interesting podcast combination. Gsp and anyone would be a good podcast combination. Gsp should start a podcast is what I'm trying to say.
@@default8587 he also said he wouldn’t fight Izzy because they’re good friends which I can also understand. But idk maybe it’s just the angle that the cameras are pointed at the octagon, but I swear the guys in middleweight look enormous. Then you got guys like Izzy and Alex and they look like they’re fucking 7 feet tall lol
@@SergioMendoza760 yeah but that's bs"wouldnt fight izzy bc he's my friend " Gilbert burns was usmans friend too,but he had to put him out and make him cry,so why didn't he just move up to middle weight since he clearly doesn't have a problem with it?He knew his limits, that's why. When you're in the fight game friends and brothers don't matter ,that can wait til after the fight.Youre there to battle the best of the best and take on all comers and challengers even if that means someone familiar.
@@zachmartinez6260 right but not everyone sticks to that mentality, like really at all. Merab and Aljo are a prime example that you don’t have to adhere to the whole “I will take all comers and challengers” mindset. All fighters should by default have that mindset, or at least in theory but a majority of them don’t. It’s also just not as fun to watch seeing two guys who will never have any real reason to fight each other, be forced to fight each other because rankings or Dana demanded it. It feels weird and oddly brutal when you know that there’s two guys who don’t want to be fighting each other in there. I think mark munoz vs Lyoto machida is a prime example of that as well, that is a situation of two training partners and best friends being forced to fight each other due to rankings/Dana’s matchmaking. And it was pretty harsh seeing Munoz in there when you could see it on his face and in his actions that he really didn’t want to fight Lyoto, both because machida was better across the board but also just incredibly dangerous on his way to a championship. Needless to say Munoz ended up getting knocked out by a pretty vicious head kick but you can instantly see Machida back off because he didn’t want to hurt his friend. It’s not fun to watch, it’s almost sad because they definitely don’t get paid super well to do something like that until they’re champions so it’s like you get paid peanuts to actually beat a guy up who you see basically everyday at the gym.
@@SergioMendoza760 well right and I agree, but in this instance that's Usman and burns not izzy and usman. You go to a gym and train mma to become a fighter, yes you make friends and pals and teammates along the way -but it's still the game and competition, you don't go there to make friends solely.Same with rap,the rap game in real life isn't like the movies, real life rapping competition Is a joke, nobody wants to diss or cross eachother because they're all friends and have the same goal, but that's not what competition Is about ,if that's the case join a club.J Cole apologized to Kendrick for dissing him on a rap but again this is a competition. You don't join competitions unless you're ready, that means ready to do what it takes, against who it takes, and if it happens to be someone you know then you gotta do what you gotta do.I agree on it being weird and brutal though. But that's not what the game Is about.
Gsp lit never fought at lightweight, and said himself he was unable to make that weight n be healthy, but ofc that was the only scenario khabib considered fighting him in
@@sbmuss7118 Khabib didn't say that. He wanted to fight GSP at a catchweight. It was GSP who suggested that he can make 155. GSP said that he could easily fight at 155 pounds.
@@sbmuss7118 I can't send a direct link, the headline is "Georges St-Pierre says he could 'easily' fight at lightweight in UFC comeback" by mmafighting and GSP quite literally brought it up, I don't know why you feel the need to lie about publicly available stuff
Boxing and MMA have different weight classes. In MMA welterweight is 170lbs not 147lbs. He was cutting like 13lbs to make WW, he had to gain weight for middleweight (185lbs in MMA).
He's not talking out of camp. He is talking fight night weight. Kamaru weighed 195+ when fighting at 170. So do most of them. Thats why he said 200 max. Khabib fought at 179.
GSP was such a respectful fighter. A true champion. Khabib was a true champion also. When Khabib fought Justin G. and made the crowd quiet down after beating Justin was such a display of respect to Justin. I have never seen anyone else do that.
@@heveycreations4197😂 you're both talking crap... It would be a great fight but it's not clear cut... Bet both you clowns also think Jake Paul can win against Tyson 😂😂😂 Rub your 🐱🐱together
@@bomakkiakhabib weighed 215 and was cutting to 155 that’s why he missed weight so many times. He avoided 170 cause that’s where the real wrestlers were.
Taking down khabib and doing what? He’d do nothing to him on the ground his best bet would be stuffing the takedowns and beating him on the feet, gsp had good wrestling but it’s no where near the level of khabib, but that’s all khabib had. It would’ve probably been a 50/50 decision for either one
GSP is super humble cuz he was a beast and is definitely selling himself a little short here. I remember when he came back against Bisping and all I could think was “damn he came back in increadable shape, and definitely put some muscle on”. He had the genetics to be bigger for sure.
Tbh, khabib vs Georges would have been a boring press conference. "He's a great fighter. I respect him very much." "No, he's a great fighter. I respect him very much. " Both great inside the cage though.
It's better that this fight didn't happen...then we would HV known whos better...both r such role model ...it's better this way and we get to cherish their greatness
Khabib didn't want it. His fans will cry and defend him on that point, but he missed weight MULTIPLE times at 155lbs. He missed the weight so bad one time he had to be rushed to the hospital because he thought he was literally dying. He completely pulled out of the fight it was so bad. And with all of that.. he still absolutely refused to challened anyone at 170lbs. He is the best lightweight ever, and he also was too scared to fight at 170lbs. FACTS!!
Was thinking the same thing,he avoided welterweight like the plague which is ironic because it's a wrestler/grappling shark tank-and when rehydrated all the guys are the same size as khabib for the most part, really makes you wonder why he wouldn't move up and show off his " best of the best" skills.
@@andrewcano619 15lbs shouldn't be an excuse to arguably lose fights. GSP fought at 170 while Khabib fought at 155 and both faced NCAA wrestlers, one arguably lost while the other one dominated NCAA wrestler in his weight division.
That’s because the wrestlers in the division weren’t even good enough to beat Poirier and Alvarez or RDA with their wrestling. Meanwhile Khabib was able to maul them all with wrestling and grappling. It’s not his fault that the wrestlers in the weight weren’t good enough lmao. This is coming from a former NCAA D1 wrestler btw. I’ve heard from multiple friends that trained at AKA that Khabib just destroys the NCAA wrestlers when it comes to grappling. They only give him a hard time at regular wrestling practices, not grappling sessions.
Unpopular opinion but Khabib isn’t in the Top 10 P4P fighters ever. I put GSP, Jones, Silva, Johnson, Fedor, Miocic, Aldo, Volk, Wanderlei, Usman, Adesanya and CM Punk ahead of him
I'm so happy I got to be an MMA fan during GSP's time - one of the most complete fighters, sportsmen and humans to ever do it. Yeah, the likes of Connor, Strickland and Jones get a lot of headlines and play the villian well, but GSP was a genuine role model as well as champion.
Khabib always refusing to fight and making up excuses really put him outside of the top 10 of all time…….. if I had a million excuses not to show up to work, you think I should make my case to be the employee of the month? TF out of here, we all know he was scared to fight at his more natural weight of 170 pounds and he KNEW he would get rag dolled by old man st Pierre
@@marouaneelourak2203 if khabib was a man why would he run away? He let every half brain little Muslim across the world down 😢 coping? Do you even know what that word means? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 let’s hear it? Sounds like your so insecure.
@@marouaneelourak2203 Just because you are brown you think Khabob would beat godzilla, when in reality he was scared to fight anyone near his ACTUAL weight class because hed get smashed, and that's facts.
@@JamieR1988 still it would be a very competitive fight. GSP's weakness was pressure and Khabib's pressure was on another level. His pressure was so dominating he outstriked Justin gatheji. The guy who is known for his heavy punches.
I really think GSP would beat Kaibab, his athleticism and striking are superior and his ground game is close enough. He could also easily lose, what a dream fight
He forced fed himself to weight 190 by the night of Bisping fight and he develop ulcerative colitis, a condition in which a body can't tolerate the food anymore.
He always right around 185-190 between fights. But he has a smaller bone structure with tons of muscle on it. That’s what he means thicker. These guys have naturally thicker structures even though gsp is wide a/f from the front.
@@ofon2000of course he wasn’t gonna defend. He’s not stupid. It was a one and done. He was already basically retired and he said he would only fight if the fight made sense and motivated him. Bisping for the belt motivated him. That’s all it was ever supposed to be.
Same things to the opponent lol. If you fight at the actual weight, and you are stupid. Their professional fighters. Your statement shows that you are never fighting in a tournament at least.
Gsp’s clearly underselling his own weight, even Usman was onto it. All these guys lie about their weight and everyone shits on Khabib for being honest about his
Khabib said the same thing. Its because their actually friends and both are muslim and like each other. People think khabib saying he wont fight usman or usman saying he wont fight khabib means their scared of one another, no its just their friends lmao same way dc didnt wanna fight cain and cain didnt wanna fight dc
Khabib never went up. But I like when fighters don't go up. It's weight classes for a reason the disadvantage is crazy and u risk permanently cracking your chin.

Gsp was so quality. Maybe the first to excel at all different martial arts. His striking was top level, his wrestling and grappling were up there with the best
Would've been in their prime a hell of a fight. 2011-ish GSP. It's 2024 and MMA still hasn't solved the weight cutting problem. A fan and follower of the sport since 2003. This issue needs to be dealt with. GSP makes a good point. There's a massive difference in weight. That's also one thing I hold against Nurmagomedov, he missed weight and was bigger than most of his opponents. The strong wrestlers weren't at lightweight but at welterweight. At some point it would've been honorable to move up and seek competition there. He did wipe out the opposition at LW though And retired on top. 13-0 UFC. Hopefully we'll see a sport in the future where fighters are fighting at a more natural weight. It's nuts to weigh-in 2x a year at a certain weight lets say 155, while at fight night weighing 180. It's unhealthy, it's fake and it's unfair for those not willing to participate.
I agree 100%. It should especially be that way for young wrestlers. It's not healthy for a kid to cut weight, and it turns into a weight cutting competition. Same day weigh ins, 1 hour before fight would be a step in the right direction. Have backuo fighters ready if a fighter misses weight. A guy that cuts too much will suffer during the fight.
I swear GSP's entire career he talks about being small compared to his opponents, even as he's massively outsizing them in the cage, both in terms of frame and muscle.
