You're the only content creator I watch that rates GT7 up towards the simulation ranks. That makes me happy personally, because I've been a GT player since the first title a quarter of a century ago. The current game in its current state is, in my opinion, an excellent driving game. It has nuanced handling, outstanding track models, almost flawless car models, excellent car customisation, and superb graphics - and I don't have to much around with graphics cards, processors, or RAM. But like you, I am floored by the quality of the wet and dry driving, and the transition between them through the development of a drying line. I also drive Assetto Corsa on the PS4 (meh), modded on the PC (outstanding), and Project Cars 2 on PS4, but GT7 gives me my favourite driving experience. It's the one I go back to because what is there is done really well. Your videos do a great service by highlighting GT7's abilities in the simulation realm, and acknowledging that in some very important ways, it can indeed be regarded as a 'simulator' (even if titles like iRacing and AC are more accurate in definite areas).
GT7 feels better to me than ACC. And I get shat on regularly by the PC overlords for my opinion. There's lots of shitheads in sim racing for some reason.
Talking about the spray, or lack of, when following in the wet in GT7, reminded me of a video by Wombleleader Racing where he talked about that, then showed a clip from earlier in GT7 where there was significantly more spray, so looks like PD reduced spray at some point, probably to make it less scary for the majority of players who probably aren't hardcore sim racers. I could only imagine the carnage in multilayer with that much spray... Not that they have wet weather very often.
Would be nice if they could do like they do in Destiny, where they can nerf a gun to balance for pvp, but in pve, it can still do work. With that said, keep spray or tire smoke in single player and nerf it for online
The recent Michelin licensing has had me wondering Polyphony now has, for the first time, real Tire data from a real Tire Company. IRacing likely started there. I can get up from my recliner, and be on track driving with "simcade", in about 40 seconds. Not only is it much quicker to get down to business.. you don't have to pay a monthly charge. I've got a friend here in the states that recently told me he pays $2 a month for weather in IRacing. I'm assuming Tempest is what he was talking about
The weather in iRacing is included as part of the standard package. I wonder if the $2/month extra is perhaps for a weather overlay via a 3rd party developer.
@@sloth_energy I didn't realize there were third-party Developers for iracing. I assumed that was locked up, like some of the others are to maintain the Integrity of the online races
@@heinous70 Yeah there's quite a variety of third party developers, many of them free or partly free too. Off the top of my head there's a crew chief alternative, telemetry programs, overlays, software for bass shakers and haptic feeback devices. There's a great livery program called TradingPaints that allows you make your own or choose one that other users have made *and* everyone who runs the program when racing can see the liveries that everyone else chosen.
Also note that if playing online for GT7, you gotta pay for ps plus which is about the same as an iracing sub. I'm currently paying for both but lucky I'm still on the super cheap new sign up deal. But soon it'll be about the same. Obviously it can get super expensive but also can as cheap as you want while still having races to do if you skip some rounds. Overall both have pros and cons and I think they compliment each other very well.
@@voongnz racing online would be great, with the people I know in the real world. Adult licensed drivers. The only one I know of that does this, has all but given it up because the real thing is even more time-consuming. I actually laughed at the thought of racing online years ago. I was there when the PlayStation 2 internet adapters were released, and it was a dream come true.. until Christmas hit and all the kids showed up. The world of driving could not be anything but worse. Far worse. Now, I regularly watch iRacing idiots of the week. I was right. If I feel like racing for a half hour, I really don't feel like investing any more than about 31 minutes in it. I like immediate satisfaction. PC Sims are, by nature, completely opposite.
Great, fair video, RC. As a GT7 player, exclusively, I could not argue that i-Racing is the go-to for serious racers. BUT, for many casuals who are time and tech-understanding-limited, I think GT7 is perfect.
I love rain in GT7. It feels really great after this 1.49 update. I just wish we could have it more like on all tracks? It is really shame PD didn't make it for all tracks... Or maybe after physics update they will bring it on other tracks? I hope.
I watch all your videos, and I would definitely like to hear your nuanced opinion on iRacing AI. It is undoubtedly ( and ironically considering is rep as THE go-to sim for online) has the best AI of all sims ... by far.
Another thing i loved about wet wheater on gt7 was the fact of if you use slick tyres on a cold drying track the tyres last way more, i havent tested that on this update but must be the same i believe
The only things missing in Gran Turismo is a monthly Pro mode subscription option for the proper banning and penalties needed for true racing. Without accountability and detailed stat tracking, you can not have racing. The other is unlimited automatic replay saved real time locally and to an online /cloud server kept for a minimum of 90 days. Absolutely necessary for steward review and analysis/driver improvement. Community created HUDs shared like liveries, helmets, and tuning is also very important.
@randomcallsign Since my fact monk can't leave it like that, otherwise I'll have an autistic attack... 😂 Quote from you in the video: "I was driving in the Audi Group 3. [...]" The vehicle used in the video is in fact the real Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo. Group 3 includes several real GT3 vehicles that are more or less still in use today (e.g. the Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo and the Lexus RC F GT3 or other, still FIA homologated GT3 vehicles). Depending on the settings, it is also possible to drive pure GT3 races within the GT7 Group 3. Quote GT Wiki: "Cars listed in this category are based on the actual FIA GT3 racing class, [...]" Quote Gran Turismo: "This group corresponds to the FIA's GT3 class."
He means the GT3 cars in GT 7 aren’t up to date. It’s just copy and paste from GT Sport. It would be a sight for sore eyes I’m sure many other people would agree.
The most modern gr.3 car is from 2020. Other simcades/simulation are using up to date cars. I would like a line up like what is in ACC. We can dream I guess
@KingsmenRagnarok Given how much time goes into those car scans I really can't blame them. The ones from gy sport was the start of their current high quality scans. As of now polyphony has the highest scans of the cars they have available in game. I can forgive them for not having a new roster of up to date gt3 cars.
I seems like you’re the only content creator that likes the new gt7 physics. Majority of the gt community hates it especially how the new braking physics handle.
Anyone complaining too much is just taking a little while to adapt to the new physics, the new physics are great. Habits and muscle memory take time to lose or adapt, meanwhile there will be complaining.
Not all. In Gran Turismo 7 the Gr. 3 category includes real GT3 cars, but also has original cars created by Polyphony based on plausible GT3 configurations for manufacturers that do not have GT3 modes, so that there can be the online manufacturer championships within the game, the Gran Turismo World Series.. In addition, Gr. 3 adds cars from more ditty categories, such as GTE, GT2, GT1, and even includes GT500 cars from the 90s. It also includes concept cars and cars called Vision Gran Turismo, which are models created by various manufacturers specifically for the game
@@randomcallsignjust because they added some more for the manufacturers cup doesn’t mean that the actual GT3 cars don’t exist 😂 look at any brand who race in GT3 and you’ll find their GT3 cars ready and available
Added more and changed classes of cars. So the gr3 isn't gt3, but an emulation. A gte car isn't a gt3, nor is it a car that can be bopped into gt3 class. It's a completely different thing.
Grab Turismo 7 is the best driving simulator whether racing, rallying, cruising or enjoying the rain. Others are just trying to catch up and coping with having spent thousands of tens of thousands and don't have the fidelity and accuracy.
Mate it’s still terrible let’s not kid ourselves. The physics are Scalextric physics ie car feels like it’s on rails most of the time with poorly simulated understeer and oversteer and virtually no pitching on braking that effects driving. It’s a kids toy compared to PC sims. And this is coming from someone who loves everything else about gt7… the soul the graphics and the vision. Shame we can’t have the physics :(
