fun fact: at the end of gta LCS you can actually see the sex club is exactly the same in gta 3 because it was “under new renovations” this is because JD (the former owner of the club) was murdered so luigi took ownership
I can't believe Fort Staunton was the most affected area of the massive explosion caused by Toni Cipriani in GTA LCS. Three years later (inside the Franchise timeline), you can still see the rubbles of the destroyed buildings and several ones under construction in GTA III🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️
@@deanobeanyjust look at the new World Trade Center buildings. WTC 1 started construction in 2006, the last beam was added in 2012, the spire was added in 2013, the building officially opened in 2014 and the observation deck opened in 2015. 2 WTC started construction in 2008 but only the base was completed.
GTA LCS shows how colorful Liberty City was right before Toni blew up half of the Fort Staunton. GTA 3's dark and gloomy atmosphere is fitting regarding that Liberty City in 2001 isn't the same as it used to be in '98.
What is really cool about this comparison to me is it displays a few things Rockstar perfected with the RenderWare engine. The first and most obvious differences to me are the character models, trees, and vehicle models. In GTA III characters are very basic sectioned figures which are capable of breaking easier in explosions, the character models in GTA LCS look more similar to those of San Andreas which have a more natural build to them while being less destructible. The trees are static in GTA III and are able to wave in the wind slightly in LCS, again they look straight out of San Andreas. The vehicles are a lot more smooth overall in LCS and have a really nice level of detail not present in San Andreas which had been the most detailed GTA game up to that point. The map differences are really cool too, some exaggerated like changing the massive areas of map or finishing entire apartment buildings or skyscrapers in 3 years, and some subtle like a change in ownership, while others are exactly the same. Overall it is cool to see how Rockstar progressed between GTA III and LCS in terms of detail on technical ability. Great video!
@@jytvreal You're right, they don't run on Renderware, however, although it's unclear, it, alongside VCS, run on an emulated VC engine using a version of the RAGE engine with minor changes to make them more SA like, kinda like an emulation, this engine was called R*L3D
Lmao what? The car models in LCS are exactly the same as they were in GTA III except they applied the san andreas paint texture to them, fused the wing meshes to the main body mesh, and tacked on new license plates. They're much less detailed than san andreas' cars. The textures are about 1/4 the resolution. They didn't even delete parts of the model which you could see when the wings were smashed off in gta III.
@@novawolf_gaming No, there's no "emulated engine" and it's not RAGE or related to RAGE in any way. The thing to understand is that renderware is NOT a game engine, it's middleware, specifically a graphics rendering library. All it does is read graphics data and display them on the screen for you, the rest of the game engine you have to supply yourself. That's why it's called "renderware" It's literally short for "rendering middleware". The engine of LCS is just the Vice City one with a different graphics library, which stores the models and textures in a slightly different format. For VCS they reused some san andreas code like the door markers, but not really very much.
@@kyle8952 You might wanna do research cuz I had to go through multiple sources to find this answer with alot saying that there isn't a record of the engine Also something you need to understand is that "renderware" IS the name of the Engine, yes that is what Renderware is short for, cuz that's what the engine is built on top of, before you comment, I would recommend doing some research See by the time GTA SA was released, Microsoft had the rights to Renderware and no one else could use it (luckily GTA SA was already due for release) so VCS and LCS weren't allowed to use Renderware legally
Seeing the maps side to side it’s cool on how you can see the evolution of the map like how in gta 3 you may have go pass an frame of an building and thought nothing of it but in LCS there was an building there and you see things that are fully open or completed in gta 3 under construction and old roads being closed off playing the game side to side and seeing these details is very interesting tbh .the city of library city built buildings and did all of the stuff we see in gta 3 all the changes we see in lcs in only 3 years? 👀
What i love about both games is that lcs was more about gang wars conflicting serious damage on the city to the point where a huge section of Stanton is destroyed, then you got strikes going on about ferry and political corruption, whereas gta 3 was about gangs fighting over spank, in a city that already suffered from what it once was.
1:11 This Paulie's Revue Bar is located at Red Light District, Portland Liberty City 1:03 It was closed by Leone Family after the "The Guns Of Leone" and the Sindacco Family was ended after Paulie Sindacco death. It converted to Luigi Sex Club 7.
@@Zpanadero thanks to that degenerate cannibal Donald Love. After going bankrupt at the end of the Stanton Island missions, his last chance to return to his former wealth is to develop a huge urban project, owned by his "beloved" mentor Avery Carrington. "Beloved", but killed by Toni in one mission and "consumed" by Donald in another, without remorse. The last step of her plan is the "unauthorized" demolition of Fort Stantuon: with a van loaded with explosives, Toni places three crates in some precise points of the FS underground, where the local railway station (or subway? looks like one of those famous rail services before the birth of modern subways). Obviously by shooting all the Sindaccos in the vicinity (why the hell would a mob spend their time underground, defending an abandoned subway?). The footage during the escape appears to be from a Michael-Bay film
For some reason, even 20 years later, I still get confused by the layout of Staunton Island, I always seem to think I'm going North when I'm really going South. Love the LCS map changes
Man I'm so glad to read that because it's exactly the same for me. I've played countless hours of GTA LCS and at least 150 of GTA 3 and I can't memorise it at all. Bear in mind that I know vice city better than my hometown and can drive anywhere in San Andreas from memory. Something about liberty city, it keeps it fresh and it's amazing.
It'd be kinda neat to see a map mod for GTA3 that takes all the stuff that's under construction, and replaces it with the finished stuff from LCS. Like, don't replace the whole map with LCS, just like, finish the unfinished stuff.
I think the reasons there's so many construction sites and LCS filled them in is because VC was originally supposed to be a DLC for GTA 3, but later became it's own game. Also explains why some areas are still under construction in GTA 3 but are filled in by LCS.
Error, the casino was still owned by the Yakuza, Kazuki Kasen was the owner until he died in 1998 and Kenji Kasen became the owner and that is why in 2001 it has a different name
so rockstar expected us to believe that a large portion of the city (it’s supposed to be new york city mind you) was built in just 3 years? before 2001 so much of this fictional new york city was just barren and under construction?
Why Toni Cipranis safe house in Portland was destroyed in Gta 3 is never explained in the game , there's also traffic cones and road is broken in Gta 3 beside Toni Ciprani safehouse like some big explosion happened when I first play GTA LCS I expected there will be some mission where enemy gang destroys Toni's house
THANK YOU I’ve been trying to think what was different about the tunnel in northern Portland, for some reason I remembered a intersection with building but replaying 3 it’s not there.. it was liberty city stories all this time lol
Well naturally, the games are going to look different since the games are set in slightly different "eras"...so the scenery will likely be different, or certain areas/buildings may or not be featured from one game to another. Toni's Shoreside Vale safehouse in VCS isn't used for anything other than scenery In GTA 3. The one place that DOES feature in both games is that one big mansion where you save Donald in VCS is the same one where the final story mission starts in GTA 3...and in both scenarios you're attacked by the Columbians. I believe Vice City and VCS we're the same way...just different years.
@@lanphil6663 So ? The fact that there's too much construction going on has no connection with the fact that the game takes place in 1998. It's as if you tell me : "bro, this movie sucks" and I answer you : "mate, we watch this movie on a blu-ray player while we use soap to wash our hands"
Could you remake this video but comparing GTA 3 with the PSP version of LCS? I think it makes more sense since the PSP version is the original and it's a more interesting comparison visually.
TW@ internet cafe construction site looks strange (but interesting), due to construction in existing building, like this, is looks impossible in real life...
@@augakem Francis Intl airport still exist in LC so probably they develop it than before like Broker is shore side while the alderney is the portland where there is more ports and factories and china town as well but it move to the middle on the city
People think this is bad. I want to see how GTA Advance looks like compared to LCS and 3. The map changes in three years is awfully unrealistic but they're games I guess.
Advance they tried to go back to GTA 1, which despite being 7 years was way more fun and had better features and LC was just one out of the three cities.
Id like LCS graphics, just that id wish R* could've made it more like the GTA III map, with the constructions only in Staunton Island, i mean some constructions in GTA LCS looks like they just started it and they telling me it got completed within 3 years?!
@@lolmortuary6658 but one is bugging me.. If you watch the gta SA stories...there is one scene where we can see the CJ in front of the s** Club.. But in LCS the sign changes after the mission. Which couldn’t happened 6 years before
Its surprising how three year old buildings can age like they were built decades ago. I mean you're telling me liberty city originally only had one bridge until 1998.
@@Eazyyyyye as the Portland tunnel wasn't completed until mid-GTA III the writers of LCS obviously had no choice but to put something in its place. I'm quite like the Ferry Port actually. It's pretty cool looking.
Library City is Still the same, but what changed: before the Porter Road tunnel, they had Ferry routes, Callahan Bridge was new that time, and was almost nearing completion, There was an old subway route which was getting eliminated when the Porter Road tunnel was in construction. And so many others. Boy, some people know the difference.
It has always bugged me that all of the assets for Grand Theft Auto Liberty City stories to me, would fit better as a 2001 setting than 1998. if they could switch everything from GTA 3-lCS and LCS-GTA 3 that would be amazing, of course this didn't happen as one was made in 2001, and the other 2006. Maybe I need to look into mods for GTA 3.
