Norm may came across as a bit of an idiot to Lester but ultimately he’s an interesting heist member because of the fact that he was a fan of Michael Townley and was intelligent enough to make the connection between De Santa and allegedly dead Townley.
Problem is, if there's any cover to Michael left, now more people know. If anyone in the crew rats, that's massive heat. There goes any low level operations. There goes protection from Dave. There goes his new life. I would wager most professionals would shut him up or make sure he doesn't live through a mission. @LarryLawton, mind weighing in?
yeah, I like this detail about the heist crew members. Mostly I love the difference between the gunmans. Gustavo is the pro and he also has a catchphrase ,,You know what I'm saying?", Packie is a returning character from GTA 4, Norm is enthusiastic and always wants to impress his hero Michael, Daryl will always blame others for something bad happening and will see himself as a pro(ironically he is the worst gunman the player can choose), Hugh seem to not really want to be there and is the only crew member that shows simpathy towards the death of another crew member(in the Bureau Fire Crew approach, if he is picked alongside another bad gunman and he is the one who survives at the end of the heist Hugh will ask if there is no chance the other gunman might be still alive, when Franklin says there is no chance and his body might be completely burned by now Hugh will say that it should have been him), , we also have Chef who is Trevor friend, I dont really remember how the other one Karl from the Big Score acts.
It's so sad that in the paleto bay scene norm is dying and asking micheal if he's proud of him and Micheal just starts complaining about how many enemies are coming.
@@domainexpansion-boosiefade if only rockstar put special lines for specific characters like specific npcs like michael to norm so it dosent sound like hes a sociopath or something. The only time they acknowledge something is the name, before, and after the heist
I managed to make Norm survive by putting him on the correct slot in the FIB mission, with Packie staying with us, now Norm's ready to make a Crew of his own. He's high level
Norm and some random girl I had found stranded after a car crash were my two most valuable people, man. The girl in particular was AMAZING. She had maxed out flying and driving AND barely asked for a cut of the money. And Norm, ah man, my boy...
Well that girl you've found at the side of the road was actually one of THE best choices of crew members to have and is recommended to obtain along with Packie and that lifenvader dude. Small pay, huge experience
i ran into taliana my first playthru but it was in trevor's already broken ass truck when i did, so she sadly died just before i pulled into her driveway. her death and my arrival at the objective were so close i thought trevor mocking her death was just his mission complete line and i was confused why i didnt have her as an extra crew option until i successfully saved her in a later playthrough lol
I'm glad that I picked her up as Trevor, I was surprised that she has a lot of experience and cheap to hire, didn't have 2nd thoughts when she's available in FIB mission, I didn't know she was the best get-away driver for FIB since you won't have any heat when you get out FIB HQ.
You know the developers probably had a flow chart of each possible character and every situation in which they survive or die in and made unique dialogue for every route
@AutumnPlayz this changes based on which gunman you take, and whether they crash. if there's no crash, you proceed normally, if there is a crash, he stops for a bit.
I wish there was a way for all crew members to theoretically survive every heist if you picked the right people for the other jobs, for example a lower level gunman could survive the jewel store job if you get a good driver, or with something like the Paleto score where there’s no other crew members you should have the option to be able to go in front so the gunman doesn’t get pinned by the car. Because otherwise it just feels like the character is dying because the game doesn’t allow them to survive the mission no matter what, at least if there was a way for them to survive it would feel like them dying was because YOU made a mistake rather than it being literally impossible for them to survive, it’s not like it would allow you to make loads of money either because in order for the bad gunman to survive you have to pay more for a better driver. It would just give you more options in later heists because if someone like Norm Richards was able to survive and gain experience from the jewel store job your reward for choosing the bad option and making life harder for yourself early on is having a cheap but experienced gunman to use in the later heists
@@itsmecrosby4723 there still is consequences, on the jewel store job a bad gunman will drop a load of the stuff as he’s getting it out of the display case and cost you money as a result, and it also punishes you for picking cheap options for both driver and gunman, if you get a cheap gunman but an expensive driver then the gunman will live, but if you choose the cheap option for both the gunman will crash before getting in the tunnel like he already does. It’s just a way of making it feel like you actually have some sort of control over what happens rather than it happening because the game won’t let you save them no matter what you do
Norm Richards is a good character, I like his personality and the respect he has for Micheal. It is worth having him as a partner, of course choosing him in the missions that guarantee his safety.
@@MatTen532 the 12% cut he takes from the Jewel store job is _Cheaper_ than taking (and losing) Norm due to Bereavement expenses. Here's the best crews for each heist in story mode, with each variation, for the most cash: Jewel Store Job: Loud and Subtle Options. - Gunman: Packie McCreary (obtained in side quest) - Hacker: Rickie Lukens (Wait for his phone call after completing the Lifeinvader Mission with Michael) - Driver: Karim Denz (He goes faster in the mission due to Packie/Gustavo going forward through the two pipes in the tunnel) The Paleto Score: - Cheap Gunman (Now the expenses of losing a Gunman is cheaper) The FIB Raid: Helicopter to roof - Hacker: Rickie Lukens - Cheap Gunman (all survive) - Driver: Karim Denz/Taliana Martinez (Obtained via side quest after unlocking trevor. Taliana has a 5% cut whilst Karim has an 8%). Both at this stage will get you an ambulance. The FIB Raid: Fire Fighters Gunman 1: Packie McCreary (Experienced Gunmen will survive the blast from the door, Cheap ones won't and will cost more as a result) - Gunman 2: Cheap Gunman (Won't get blasted) The Union Depository: Subtle -Gunman 1/2: Packie McCreary (Goes in bank with you, takes Gold) -Gunman 2/1: Cheap Gunman from FIB Raid (Changes tires. Experience = Tires won't pop) [Note: at that point, the two roles of Gunmen can be switched either or between Packie and your Cheap gunman, but Packie will pack _All_ the gold bars if you did the fire fighter raid on FIB with him as G1] Driver 1&2: Karim Denz & Taliana Martinez (Gauntlet Drivers) Hacker: Rickie Lukens (At this point, he will have good connection to the Traffic system) The Union Depository: Obvious - Gunman 1: Cheap Gunman (goes with Michael) - Gunman 2: Cheap Gunman from FIB Raid (takes gold, goes on his own and survives) - Driver 1&2: Karim Denz & Taliana Martinez (at this stage, both can safely fly a helicopter)
For the Bureau Raid: Fire Crew, if you chose 2 bad gunmen, the second gunman will die. In the first clip, he chose Daryl Johns as his 2nd gunman while Norm Richards was the 1st gunman. While in the second clip, the positions were replaced so Norm died and Daryl survived. So if you chose Fire Crew and want Norm to survive, choose 1 bad gunman (Norm) and 1 good gunman. No matter what the position is, the bad gunman (Norm) will survive. But I really recommend you to choose the Roof Entry because Norm and every other bad gunmen will survive in this heist.
@@DanielPUBG69the fact that he abandoned his wife and kids and became robber because of michael is unacceptable he desserve to die LMAO But hugh is a wholesome character tho cuz he's the only one characters that actually mourned the other crews death.
You missed one little dialogue in The Bureau Raid (Roof entry) after Michael and Franklin get in the building Norm throws a bag with weapons, Franklin pass the guns and the dialogue change depending on the gunman, in Norm´s case F says he picked a wrong weapon and Norm reply something like "shut up, I only take shit from Michael"
i love the idea of utilizing crew characters more to increase their skills, however, they felt pointless since you only get a few heists in the story mode so picking low level helpers is only acceptable when they have a low roll to take like picking bad shooters on a driving mission or vice versa
i agree. This is where Rockstar got greedy in my opinion. They've focused more on the online aspect (which you need to pay for ps plus i mind you) Was wishing that i can form and train my team for random heists
I manage to use Norm Richards, but to this last heist, the Union Depository. Going for the obvious approach with 2 inexperienced gunmen is best with experienced drivers = big payday.
you could also cheap out on the train operator, but the chopper should have the best, an experienced Taliana is nice for that, or better yet, an experienced Karim
@@inaktiv.007 actually if u put him on the corner side when u open the door in the fire crew heist and the other one bieng a strong gunman he will not die
@@bellic921 u can see in the video that he got daryl killed and norms survived and the reverse it depends on the placement of the member when selected might be patched because i didnt do it since a while
I'm curious how Norm Richards had no idea who Trevor was. Michael and Trevor were always working together since the late 80s. If Michael's full name was released to the public, chances are Trevor's was also released.
@@somedude8182 Don't use him or Daryl until The Bureau Raid. In Fire Crew approach, if both gunmen are unskilled, gunman 1 will die so you can pick Norm as G1 and Daryl as G2. In Roof Entry approach, pick Norm as your only gunman then. As you can see in the clip, he won't die.
I always pick him for the final job (obvious so he can’t mess up) not only for a low cut but to make sure he pulls off the greatest heist of all time with his hero, that’s epic
I never liked Norm because he consistently disrespects Franklin despite being mostly incompetent himself. The fact he abandoned his Family to be a Career Criminal and brags about how much he loves hurting people, I'd say he doesn't deserve much Sympathy when his attempted life of crime catches up to him.
I just played through this game again last week and I am surprised by how much dialogue I actually haven't heard yet. For example I was doing the jewelry store heist and I decided to take Packie and Gus, the experts, and went cheap with the hacker, Rickie. The dialogue with Frank made me laugh out loud. Franklin said these guys look serious and Michael replied yeah most of them are. Frank says most? And Michael replied yeah I went cheap with the hacker.I don't know that just caught me off guard and made me laugh. I usually either go all cheap or all expensive. And both ways also have different dialogue. Rockstar definitely put the time into this game.
I like to go with all expensive because I feel like it first Michael's character more, as he's usually the one assigning roles and tends to be a more pragmatic and cautious character.
The more i see and learn the more i see Michael not giving a shit about mostly anyone, a guy gets killed "who? Oh right" or "well shit happens, move on" Least thats how i feel, but cool to see a fan of Michael
@@jegerdosky5501 and he was never that fond of norm in the first place. a deadbeat dad might hit too close to home, and openly using michaels old name is incredibly risky. michael was notorious enough that dave "killing" him boosted his career astronomically, so what happens if someone overhears a michael townley robbing banks again?
It just don't make any sense that in the paleto score the bad gunmen always got pinned down, like where does that car came from? And why there's no car ramming the good gunmen? Did he kills the driver when they're on the way to the alley?
@@pedinhuh16 Maybe also rockstar doesn't want us to be greedy, like "oh his cut is so low, I will earn more money" but then they died and the expenses is much more expensive
Actually yes, that’s exactly what happened. The poor gunman’s shoot them early which means they get rammed while the good gunman wait until the car stops to shoot them. It’s a sort of Experience difference between the options, a way to show how different a skill level for a crewmate is which they really nailed down.
Wonder which crew members are canon in Gta 5 story, I'm sure Paige and Eddie are canon because they were in contact with Lester even before the jewel store heist, and I'm almost sure Packie is as well, he's too good to be left out of the heists.
I would literally restart my game, if I accidentally went into the scouting mission. Since every time I forgot to go and make sure I had Packie available. He was my favorite crew member. Second favorite is Taliana. Too bad she isn't available for the first heist.
@@johnweber80 and now that you mention it, Taliana probably is canon too, her price is way too good for someone of her league, best heist member in the game.
@@calangoraivoso9921 I agree on best driver at least. I'd gladly pay her double her rate, but Packie really picks up the slack, never left any jewels with my time limit, and helps level Rickie and Karim up on the first heist for later use. My 3 go-tos are Packie, Taliana and Rickie. Chef is probably Canon too so he's always my second Gunner on the U.D.
Norm and Packie were always my go-to, they were really the most interesting characters to pull any jobs with. Packie for obvious reasons, but Norm because of that weird bond he has with Michael.
Jewel store heist: Get Ricky as hacker and Karim as driver. They'll screw up but survive. Have Packie as gunman, he's a pro, but slightly cheaper than the default pro gunman Paleto Score: Repeat with Packie or some other decent but not too expensive gunman. Otherwise they'll die Bureau: Choose roof and pick Norm Richards. He'll survive and get enough exp. Also Rickie and Karim should be back. They'll have enough exp to make the heist easier. The big one: By the time you get here, your rookies will be cheap pros. If you choose subtle, Rickie will be such a pro hacker you'll do the traffic lights minigame with no lag, Karim will rock, Norm will be pro, etc. However, the Obvious choice is better, since subtle is really expensive 'cause it needs extra crew and you must pay a lot to fortify the cars. You can get a cheap driver to control the train, they don't get any risks, and Karim will be a pro on the helicopter. Norm will survive the shootout, etc.
I wish Rockstar cared about little details like this when it came to online. They obviously still can with how RDR2 story was super thoughtful and attentive. Can't wait to see more little things like this in GTA 6
I don’t know if it always works but I think low level members can survive and get the xp if u skip after failing because I saw norm survive the bureau raid after someone failed so they can skip the part it was that firefighter route
In the bureau raid fire crew approach please tell me What happens if you choose norm richards as the first gunman along with good or bad gunman as second? Can norm survive this or not?
Wait. You got it all wrong friend. Trevor knows that Michael faked his death and changed names. That is the point of T coming to Los Santos. What Trevor DOESN’T know is that Brad is dead in Michael’s place and Dave Norton is posing as Brad sending letters to Trevor.
@@AzaBiege that's true, but i mean should michael keep shutting norm up whenever he talk about his past.... You never knew to what extend info that norm know .... For tha sake of .... Playing it safe
@@AzaBiege No, Trevor thinks Michael was actually shot and made a deal from hospital to avoid prison. He's upset that Michael survived and never contacted him. He doesn't realise Michael screwed him and used the money he was allowed to keep by Dave to live it up and pay Dave. Trevor doesn't stop to think that would make no sense as obviously Trevor would have been part of whatever deal michael did, and he naively believes people are as loyal as him. The thought of Michael tricking him doesn't come to his mind Before he saw the jewel store job news, he thought Michael died and Brad survived and was in prison, after, he thought what i previously said
In the paleto score with the tanks it’s very logical that it takes a bit of time for a tank to shoot since it normally needs cooperation with a 4 man crew inside, I know there’s an auto target system in the abrams but I’m assuming not in this scenario
after the first heist with him i was like, neat, i dont have to share my cut with him anymore. 😂 however, after seeing the video him being so devoted i kinda feel bad now😅
For me I always use specific people for the heists Packie, Rickie and Karim for Jewel Store Heist, Packie for Paleto Heist, Daryl, Rickie and Taliana and Packie, Rickie, Daryl, Taliana and Karim on the Big score
They should find a way to implement them into the online heists. That way solo people can do every heist but it's harder depending on the skill level. Hell with all the repetition they could even get better via experience if you run through all the heists. Anything beats 3 fucking randoms.
That's exactly why i only do Cayo heist these days. I can accomplish more when going alone than with any random that i ever met. As a matter of fact, if R* gave me 3 AI teammates and i can order them to follow me, wait here or there, shoot this or that,etc.. I would easily clean out the whole damn island and make millions. Even if the teammates take like 20% cut it would still be alright and more fun.
Welsh seemed like the kindest gunman mourning over another dead one saying how it should've been him. He may be a bank robber but he's a selfless man with a good heart
