This is an extended version of the famous GTA III theme that I've made in HD. I'm not the original composer of this song. Credit goes to Rockstar Games.

@NoobSterr9945 This hasn't entirely been confirmed by Rockstar. When asked during GTA III's 10th Anniversary questionnaire if Claude from III and Speed from 2 were the same person, Rockstar replied with "it's a definite... maybe".
There's something about this music that hits differently, giving the vibes like "welcome in this world". So refreshing and nostalgic from when I was 5 yrs old.
Very true. The 2D games were fun, but III basically started an entire genre, I feel like the tone of this song really captures the triumph of that achievement.
The best GTA theme. Something about it really captures that 90s noir feel like Goodfellas and The Sopranos. No wonder they used it in the remaster trailers, it's the start of a legacy.
😂😂😂 me too Me in 2005: that musik is hORrIBBle!! Me in 2013: uses for failing exam to calm down Me in 2020:I WANNA LISTEN TO THOS MUSIC EVERY DARN DAY!!
Claude takes a look over his city; Liberty City. He's emotionless, silent. His eyes squint as a breeze hits his face. After all the jobs, gunfights, and trouble he's caused. This is his town now.
I remember when I was 3 years old, I would wait for my dad to go off to work so I could sneak onto his xbox. This was the first game that I ever played. Driving around for hours, stopping at red lights and not being able to beat the first couple of missions. This theme lives in my head rent. Miss you Dad, thanks for leaving the game in the console.
This is fake as fuck. Human brain isn't concious until 24 months. This fucker was playing GTA III when he was 3 and completing a couple of missions? what
Remember my best friend yelling in 2001 "it's running on my PC!!!!!" We'd spent so many hours mastern this game!!! He passed away three years ago, but the emotions, missed classes, old keyboard texture and this theme..... maaaaan i'm cryin

I am 27 now, I remember playing this as a kid. I didn't have a memory card so I would pass all the missions in Liberty city from scratch pretty much everyday so I could drive all the fast cars in Staunton Island if that's what it was called. I still play it from time to time and I play this song on my piano really really often, I'm in love with it. It will always stay with us and I'm pretty sure I would play it as a grandpa too :) Love to all of you guys
It’s 2001, little over a month after 9/11. The world feels grey and different and all hope is sucked away by uncertainty. Everyone is looking for a distraction. Dad and I drive to a plaza a town over. The parking lot is derelict and almost abandoned, holding no more than a closed hardware shop and a video store. We walk across a football field of weathered asphalt and spinning autumn leaves, hiding our hands from the cold. “Remind me to get some popcorn for mom”. Inside we separate and I find my way to the game aisle. A new PS2 title sits alone on a shelf with one copy peaking out from behind the display case. It’s a crime game with guns and cars in big city under an overcast sky. It felt like all the days since September. I take it and we check out. Once home I go to my room and open the disk tray and nudge it back in. Music plays. Welcome to liberty city. One of the Best game experiences ever.
That first note takes me back instantly. I’m in my bedroom at night in 2002, it’s storming outside and I’m in the dark with the only source of lights being my TV and the green light on the front of my PS2. I don’t have school tomorrow, and my parents are asleep. Life is good.
10/10 best gta theme song. Really captures everything about New York and the dark and depressing vibe mixed with jazz blends so well with the tone New York gives off
tbh the only song in gta that i dont like to listen is the 5 one, 4, 3, san andreas and vice city ones where really good, san andreas really captured that west coast california vibe, and gta 4 got that gangsta shit mixed with dark tones. really fits the vibe of the NY they were trying to represent
Bullshit, it was same character from the beggining -R* changed gheir mind later. Same with el burro from GTA1 and GTA3 I guess, what means 2D and 3D meant to be one universe before they came up with the HD one.
@@edu_moonwalker Why u think so? We meet Claude in 1992 (SA), 2001 (GTA 3) and 2013 (GTA2) when he propably got killed. We don't know what was he doing in between.
Felt like you are driving your first real car. I think i crashed everywhere and laughed as i crashed into peds. I played Midnight Club 1 before, but the car feel was much more realistic.
Not really your opinion tbh, it's a straight fact. GTA III is the god father of open world gaming and the start of modern day gaming. The GTA 3D trilogy is one of the reasons why PS2 is still the best selling console in history. It's a huge step up from the previous gen games.
@@foxmccloudizsexy GTA, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid, God of War and Devil May Cry were the reasons why the PS2 was a legendary console

The triads and the cartel are the worst. The mafia was really annoying in one mission where you have to drive past that area near salvatore's house, it might be a race, i forget which one but they carry shotguns and they one shot my car multiple times
This song has a kind of gloomy, cold feel... just like Liberty City itself. And yet, sounds so classy, like a mafia theme. One of the reasons why I love this game.
Pov: - you stole that banshee from dealership in Harwood - you tried to fly with Dodo plane - you got killed by Leone Family member in mafia turf, Saint Mark's - you tried to get six wanted stars to get the tank - you failed "expresso - 2 - go"
😂😂 yeah true. If you watch ejrm films (I forget the name so many times😕) "Evolution of GTA Intros", You see GTA II's And GTA III's. It's really crazy.. The differences..
who composed this? This is objectively the best GTA song in the history of all its games. That symphonic combination with a deep harmonizing tone drenched in signature NYC jazz scene is hypnotic.
@@DRAGON_MEXAS_YT dang let the guy have an opinion, jeez louise, if you believe something is better, that's you. No, what are you even doing here in this video in the first place?

And her not knowing the guy he left behind in San Andreas came to control the streets of Los Santos, control An Automobile Monopoly in San Fierro and have connections to the Triads and a stake at a big time Casino and major connections to a government agency through toreno and was the Manager of the most famous west coast rapper. If she just wasn't a bitch and was actually nice to carl.
When I was a kid playing this I always skipped the intro cause I was like “eww, what a slow boring song”. Now I appreciate how good it is so much more!
You know when you listen to a song and your hair stands on end because it's so good? That happens to me every time the violin and bass kick in. That shit makes me shiver.
When you FEEL the music, you KNOW the musics got feel, and GTA3 IMO had the best theme tune of the whole series. Jazzy as fuck, just pure feel & flavour, the only 2 ingredients that matter in music... Hurtful, haunting, iconic, shit like that!
I was in the 3rd Grade, living at a cousin's house as my family struggled severely with income and how our money was spent. I had a PS2 with a good handful of games on it granted to me by a friend of my grandma's. My favorite in that bunch at the time was Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I loved everything about it and would play it everyday after school and go on sprees with my cousin, endless fun and endless hours wasted when we should've been doing schoolwork. One day, the disc became so scratched to the point where the console couldn't read the game anymore. I was distraught and my cousin set himself on a mission. To get me a new copy of San Andreas at a local game store! He begged and begged his mom to take him and she eventually obliged, taking the San Andreas copy with. I was left alone with nothing but the house maid and a PS2 with some games I've never played before. I just tossed a few different games in to pass the time, and do keep in mind, these were all in a carry case, and after a long time of not knowing what to do, I saw at the very bottom of the case, a game similarly named to San Andreas. That being... Grand Theft Auto III. I popped that baby in and played. And played. I was glued to the game, despite it not being San Andreas, I was incredibly engaged by it. I probably played for two hours by the time my cousin came back with San Andreas and know the shock in his face when I told him "No, dude! This game is way better!" He didn't believe me, so I let him rampage for a bit and he couldn't really tell the difference first. As some time passed, I think I now know why the game glued me in far more than San Andreas did. The police force when rampaging are far more aggressive and faster than the ones in San Andreas. Rather than them using tactical ways of stopping the player (spike traps, popping tires with bullets, P.I.T. maneuvering), they slammed into you at full force, even at the cost of their own lives or the pedestrians. Grabbing the Firetruck in Shoreside Vale and playing chicken with a 4 Star Wanted Level on the bridge above the Cochrane Dam might be some of the funniest moments I've had with my cousin in any game ever. Police vehicles getting sent FLYING literal hundreds of feet off the bridge and into the water below was exhilarating, and I'll never forget those moments. To the friend of my grandma's who gave me his PS2, I hope you're doing well. You seemed like a really nice man and you indirectly introduced my favorite game of all-time to me: Grand Theft Auto III.
i’m looking forward to playing this with improved graphics on ps5, i already have it on there but it’s just the ps2 version. trying to 100% it at the moment after my 4th time beating it lol
@@jvdr8675 That kinda makes 0 logical sense. If the water's contaminated in 4 then why can he swim in it? Pretty sure the residents & Niko have more to worry about than just diving in the water. 😂
People are usually so stuck on how old was always better than the new, as far as games go. But, for me, I like all GTA games. Every single one of them.
Let me explain why GTA games like these were the best. It was not confined to gaming physics, not obsessed by making things life-perfect. It was about a man with a cube hand, a cylindrical rocket launcher, a car that steers like a housefly with a pentagon shaped steering wheel. It was about the crap mouth to voice sync. It was about being a little kid killing people. It was about doing the most heinous crimes in the most magnificent way possible. Sometimes, crap is better. It is not a HD game abiding by the laws of physics. But boy is it amazing.
JohnnyKlebitz77 You know, times had changed. In 2000, we don't care about HD textures, HQ and realistic music, very accurate animations or sharp models. We don't care. We cared about storyline, main character and missions. We cared about gameplay and its length. In 2015 this animations looks ugly and funny. But in 2000? That... that was AMAZING. Now, we care about graphic and music. Not storyline. It's sad, isn't it? I love GTA III, and this is my favourite part of this amazing universum. :)
TheKawusiaa I don't really think this is all true, for some reasons... First of all, I feel like game developers are always trying to do their best to fit the theme/style of the game, but when that theme is set, it depends on what the graphics will be. For example, cod (ew), they push to have a realistic looking fps game... so they will try to make the most HQ textures they can. But take an amazing game like The Walking Dead or Life is Strange, which both have the same style of textures (discount a few things), yet they don't make them to be 4k resolution and instead focus on the story-line. But usually when graphics are a main part of the game during development and even sometimes afterwards, it can also cut down on how good the story-line may be, and how the game works, because $$$ goes different places, people shift from making the body movement of certain characters in a cutscene to making a grass texture nicer... Of course, there are some differences, like gta v, rockstar is such a huge company, and really rich too, they can spread out their teams... What I am trying to say is, saying that no one cares about gameplay and it's all about graphics is not true unless you love playing cod and battlefield... indie games seem to focus way more on gameplay than graphics. Also, looking back on many companies, it is pretty obvious they tried to make the graphics nicer each game. But it's just that they didn't make them a huge focus.... Maybe I went too far off of topic...
Lord Humungus That's how it still is. You shouldn't be so stuck in the past, I honestly see later GTA games as a huge improvement upon the older ones. TheKawusiaa The graphics that GTA V has are great, but nobody focuses on them. They focus on creating mayhem, or just having fun with the story mission, playing online with other people, etc. Destructive fun, that how GTA was and always has been about. I think you've leaned more towards the "Old is better than new!" bandwagon because it represents a more sophisticated level of taste. I don't see how the animation in GTA V looks "ugly", it's actually very very well made and a huge improvement. I'm positive in my statement that you are on the "old > new" bandwagon, you say "we", representing the entire gaming community as of 2015, which is inaccurate. I'm very very positive a LOT of GTA players don't care about HD textures, HQ or "realistic music" (..realistic music? Really?..) or any other thing you said. I'm sure a lot of them see that it's cool and all, but don't only care about it. *Edit*: Also, I realized that you seem to leave out the fact that Rockstar has always tried to make GTA look realistic from GTA 3, and made it the best they could with the limitations. TL;DR : You're blinded by nostalgia; your comments were just you jumping on the "old is better than new" bandwagon.
Yeah, that could be a possibility in people's opinions. I am going to rephrase what I said. Growing up, I had a ps2, a gamecube, and a pc that basically was for Age Of Mythologies. Next, the gamecube was basically a lot of cool games like mario, and whatnot. The last, ps2, had pretty much everything. The game that stood out the most for me? GTA. I had GTA Vice, III, and SA. I'd have to say my favorite for the time was Vice, I just basically caused mayhem. Just like every person my age on that game, for the most part. I mean, I also played the others. III was a bit darker for my taste, as a little kid, and SA was fun but just seemed different. Looking back on it, all 3 are amazing none the less. Thing is, I feel like nothing's changed in terms of actual gamer's thoughts on gaming as a whole. Back then, it was about having the funnest games to play, but it was clear that developers really pushed being able to have more on screen, to make that steering wheel more circular, to make that trash can a trash can, to make little papers that spawn out of no where just fly with the wind... and it was clear that the more developers could do with the game, the more everyone was like "OMG LOOK AT THIS IT'S A HUGE IMPROVEMENT LOOK IT'S A PLANE IT LOOKS LIKE A REAL LIFE PLANE" (I use that loosely; my point is just that everyone loved the nicer graphics and more on screen, but everyone knew that the story was more important to make a good game). Everyone was pretty shocked when mario has nicer graphics, when guns looked like guns... at least to my understanding... And now, I still find it really amazing. Games out with 4k graphics, rain making your car slip if you go faster, walking into the water causes water lines up to where you walked... But still, a game isn't fun without a good storyline. Anyone who actually is a gamer would know that. This is the reason Call Of Duty doesn't have the same feel as The Walking Dead, or that Titanfall doesn't have the same feel as Life Is Strange... In the end, if you think that graphics = gameplay, you really need to rethink gaming as a whole. Obviously many many gamers LOVE having 4k textures, and amazing TXAA effects, and gorgeous rain and water effects, but we know that the gameplay is really what matters. Newer games are coming out with amazing new ideas. I know I may have mentioned gta a lot, but for example... Rockstar has always tried their hardest at making new games, and with GTA, it was obvious they loved doing it, too. It is amazing what they did with 7 year old hardware on gta v (xbox360/ps3). It isn't wrong to say that gaming has changed since those days, but it's wrong to say that it took a turn for the worst. There will always be amazing games coming out to play, and beautiful soundtracks to compliment it, too.
Voice Actor of Salvatore Leone - Frank Vincent (also played in Scorsese movies - Goodfellas, Casino) - he is dead for a year right now... Great job, RIP Frank Vincent and.... Sayonara Salvatore!
Driving though New York City at night with this theme playing is pretty satisfying, then drive through New York City with the GTA LCS theme in the morning. That's a different experience.
I Hope that GTA III 20 Year Anniversary gets a Remake just like Mafia Definitive Edition. Edit: i fixed the comment because i wrote it wrong this was before The Definitive Edition came out i just tried to fix the Comment bc of my Bad English sorry everyone.
I like the detail that Liberty City becomes more and more unsafe the further you go in the story. Free roaming becomes a suicide mission (espiecially in Saint Mark's), showing how cruel the criminal life is.

After 20 years passed during the release, rockstar should make a definition edition just like mafia got it since mafia was released in 2002, 19 years passed. Gta vice city was released in 2002, too. The San Andreas came in 2004, 17 years passed. Liberty City Stories came in 2005, 16 years later, then Vice City Stories, 15 years later. Here's comes the best game of all time Gta 4, 2008, 13 years ago. The Episodes from Liberty and Chinatown Wars came out in 2009, 12 years ago. Lastly, GTA 5, which came out in 2013 and 8 years passed. Red Dead Redemption 2 which came out in 2018. And gta online and red dead online still continue its journey. Miss the 3D era of GTA.
