I feel like I know the San Andreas map better than my home town

Rescuing Sweet from Alcatrans would have been an awesome quest. More so if it would have been set up and it included all the characters helping. Wozie for funds and manpower, Toreno getting inside information, Zero hacking and all the others. Like a Heist mission.

If not that grey and depressing rainy weather, San Fiero could be one of my favorite places to hang out in SA. Sadly, Las Venturas took the cake.

San Andras to this day feel huge while GTA 5 map is very whatever to me.

I love the vast variety of areas in this game 3 cities (Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas) And 5 counties (Red County, Whetstone, Flint County, Tierra Robada and Bone County) it's just so awesome how they all feel different from one another

As for beta Las Venturas I remember in one of Vadim M's video he mentioned there's an early San Andreas map used as a backgroud for pause menu in mobile ports of the game. Anyway yours videos are informitive and nice to watch. Keep up the good work

Fun fact: if you look closely, the beta map of San Andreas seems to connect to the mainland. Las Venturas seems to be surrounded by more desert, and it sort of looks like there's more land east of Los Santos. Makes you think what GTA III era's America looks like.

"Now I can sleep at night knowing what the beta map for San Fierro looks like". It's 5:30 in the morning. But it was actually interesting because.. Everybody talks about the changes to Los Santos but not San Fierro. I've never been to San Francisco in my life because I've lived in the Mojave Desert for most of my life.

Watch Dogs 2 really brings that feeling that what all San Andreas players are missed that are a San Fierro HD that isn't in GTA V. Now we only needs a Las. Vegas open world gta style for Las Venturas since probally the next GTA is going to Vice City

This map was my favourite during my childhood,it was feeling like infinite.But actually it's too compact,roads are too complicated compare with GTA V,draw distance is like almost zero and there are fogs everywhere.That's why it feels big.

superb video as always! sucks youtube didnt notify me of it. my theory is that san fierro was rushed to meet the deadline. i guess instead of them giving proper detail to some places, the production team had to focus on adding extra areas and it resulted in lack of detail for the whole thing. the only reasons i have this theory other than what the video says is how san fierro has an unused police department interior and the tram has extra, unused location signs.

2:16 I'm from Sausalito and when I saw that Bayside was in the game I shat myself. But you're totally right it was tacked on after the game was almost done probably. The proof in the pudding is that there are no street races, no safehouses, literally nothing to do in Tierra Robada. I thought the devs were making a meta joke about how there's nothing to do in Marin County, but that was just me projecting lol

San Andreas in my opinion is still the "best" GTA game ever made all around, I mean it's not the best looking, it doesn't have the most features, but if you look at the current state of GTA and every single title and step along the way historically speaking it took to get there, it's arguable there's never been a more important GTA game overall. Thinks like customizing cars, riding bicycles, flying basically all the remaining aircraft we couldn't control in Vice City (like Jets and fighter planes, etc). Skydiving. The concept that the map would contain everything from urban landscapes (like the ghettos of LS, the San Francisco-ness of San Fierro, and of course the never-ending nightlife aspect of Las Vegas to be found in Las Venturas) all the way to the country and backroads you can find in between. At the time it was the most ambitious videogame ever made and I was just stunned they were able to fit it all on one disc, at the time.

If you give ability to write subs in different languages, I would translate your video to Russian, so you'll get more views and likes, cuz you're really making content.

Bayside reminds me a lot more of the buildings in the Presidio than anything in Sausalito, just on the opposite side of the bridge.

I feel so lucky to have been a kid when this came out. I still remember first seeing gta 3 and compared to the original games which I played to death, it was so groundbreaking. By the time we got to SA I genuinely believed I was witnessing the pinnacle of gaming n thinking “this can’t get better, what could you do to make this better?” I think I may have been right.

@3:40 if I remember correctly alcatraz was supposed to be made there but that as well as character switching and some other things were canned because of both development time and the choice to make it a console game as well, which limited some possibilities...well a lot of possibilities.

The black & white San Fierro map, I don't think that is a Beta map. I do think it was made on purpose, like an old map from the 50s or something like that.

@2:30 bayside is basicly visual filler for what otherwise would be an empty corner comparingly to real life a town like that would also have nothing of interest and would probably specialise in transporting some cargo that has to go to the direction the dessert is in and which would be less convient to first unload at the city docks, it also would probably indeed have a sailing ship marine and something like a small boat dock/school as the land price would be far cheaper compared to directly on the city side, could have done with a fast food joint, as a remember theres not many on that side of the map

Did anyways else notice the out of bounds areas in the very southern and very north-western part of the map (as seen fully at 1:00)? It reminds me alot of when the RDR2 beta map leaked, and the out-of-bounds-yet-walkable area was blacked out in a similar way. I wonder if the San Andreas map was originally envisioned not as an island, but as supposed to be connected to the rest of the country like how the RDR1/2's map is. If so, I wonder how the areas would've looked like. Would there be a San Diego to the south? Would there be mountain ranges to the north?

You missed one of the biggest things. The triangle-shaped building is missing in the beta along with the destroyed highway beside it. In fact, seeing all the missing areas near the construction site, maybe there was more visible destruction from the earthquake that happened there.

I still remember buying the Prima guide for San andreas and it mentioned that you could take over gang turf in SF and LV, and fight like 6 other gangs. Rifa, Mafia, DNB, Triads and whatever else. you could in fact, not. not without mods.

This is the reason they reported it, enhanced HD graphics, and rebranded their logo, to finally release the pretty DEFINITIVE EDITION. This is the reason they removed these old versions. This is the reason they took the mods down, cos they did way better and even fixed that for free.

I would be so happy if GTA 6 was set in San Fierro. It's one of my favourite places in the GTA SA map and it has so much potential. Especially if it gets treated like Los Santos did in GTA 5.
