Correction: The Japanese learned the Americans were strong willed at not letting an enemy attack without considerable effort to repulse AND destroy them.

Japan only started this war because they completely misjudged the Americans wil to fight by seeing Americans training with wooden guns during the Great Depression when our economics were terrible
@tonylam9548
@tonylam9548 Месяц назад
@@larrytischler570 Not all Japanese misjudged, Admiral Yamamoto judged correctly but no one listened to him, even tried to kill him, he had to be sent to sea for his safety. Like The Germans , the Japanese were misled by the prewar fight with China and early WW2 and thought it was so easy to win. All the Americans needed were time , to build up their military industrial complex and to get an air base close to Japan. Once they get the base , Japan is finished. The B25 Tokyo was almost a joke, a token raid. The whole Japan would be in a panic if they only know what Boeing were soon rolling out of their factory.

Ship in the photo is the Japanese battleship Haruna taken in 1934. It was original designed as a battle cruiser of the Kongo class by British naval engineer George Thurston and commissioned in 1915. It was later upgraded to a battleship. It participated in just about every major naval action in the Pacific. It was sunk at its moorings in July, 1945 at the Kure Naval Base by aircraft from Task Force 38.

Yet, for its cost and enormous fuel usage (which Japan could not afford) it had little impact on the war. After all, it was sunk in port.

@@Howie-du7ov Who me? No. I just enjoy history and have noticed, in a number of videos, people have asked what the ship in the photo is. Most people don’t even comment so I’m not sure what the point of your comment is.

Before Guadalcanal the Australians had annihilated the Japanese on Kokoda and Milne Bay.

This was part 2 of the Battle of Midway in mid 1942..The Battle of Guadalcanal in late 1942 put the Japanese Navy in full defense. The Japanese just couldn't stop the offensive US Navy anymore. It was a defensive war for the Japanese Navy from now on until the end of the war in August 1945.

this vid needs the audio edited due to a low frequency hum surge. a low cut filter should do the trick- although its probably not noticeable on phones, on higher end systems its quite bothersome, detracting from an otherwise great story

wrong - pretty sure after America cut oil supply to Japan they knew America was overwhelming strong as they HAD to wipe out the naval forces by surprise as they had no chance head to head.

P-400 had a 20mm cannon, not 37mm as the P-39 did.
