Guard dogs FAIL (Presa, Fila, CAS, Neo) - Don't believe the hype - Require proof

Barking behind the safety of a fence does not mean your dog is an effective guardian. Know the difference between reality and hype.
This video illustrates several breeds known for their defensive nature...and it illustrates why dogs that have low prey drive are often ineffective at protection work. The defense drive needs to be balanced or you may end up with insecure animals that are not reliable guardians. That said, a dog that only works with prey drive isn't really any better. The ideal dog needs both prey and defense...combined with confidence and good nerves.
Be sure the breeder you are dealing with uses performance assessment to confirm that their dogs represent the qualities you are looking for in a dog. Don't just take their verbal word. Make them show you success at the task. Good luck.

Most dogs aren't going to bite in these situations. That's why you do bite work training and introduce them to higher levels of stress as you build their confidence. MWD's don't start of jumping out of helicopters and engaging attackers with firearms... I can imagine rhese owners probably were bragging about how badass their untrained dogs are.

All of my dogs have done something fortunately I’ve been there stop them, I always see these people talking about the necessity to do bite work with your dog you shouldn’t need to tell your dog to attack someone in a critical situation it should be instinct I’ve owned German shepherds my entire life 3 of the 3 that were confronted with a situation they thought to be threatening to our family reacted a lot of this is probably due to the fact that we get real working line German shepherds not the show line bs😂 Here’s how they all reacted the first time we were hauling a washer into the basement this guy asked if he could pet our dog and he moved his hand towards me in a fast way that almost seemed aggressive I had my dog on a leash he lunged for the guy growling it pissed him off that the guy did that to me mind you we’ve never had aggressive dogs all of our dogs were socialized very stable dogs with good temperaments they’ve never overreacted and are sweet dogs amazing with kids, adults and dogs no issues whatsoever, Another situation was when my sister in law came over to get a dog crate we no longer had use for and they had just gotten a puppy so it was perfect she opened the garage as I was on the front porch walking towards her but all’s he saw was a stranger on his property he was on the other side of the garage laying on the stairs next to the inside door and he charged snarling and barking and I yelled his name and told him to stop and he literally comes to a full stop mid sprint and almost slid right into us😂 As you can see these dogs were all amazing guard dogs without training I have no doubt in my mind those dogs would give their lives for me and my family it’s all instinct when you have a real guard dog and not a mutt/cur but some of it’s definitely how you bring your dog up to if you don’t have a confident dog yeah it probably won’t be useful if you didn’t socialize your dog and it’s afraid of people yeah it probably won’t react and that’s your own fault😂

I notice that none of the owners were encouraging their dogs to attack. The owner watches or allows the guy through the gate. The dog has no idea if its an intruder or just a very rude guest. Also a dog that is locked or chained up and has no relationship with his owner or pack or property has no instinctual reason to protect anything but his own life. It is wise not to engage in pointless fights to ensure survival.

This is really an eye opener, those vicious-looking dogs from Cane Corso to pitbull to Ovcharka! Man, this proves that dogs without protection training is pretty useless, unless you try to run and be chased by the dog! I was so wanting to have a Cane Corso as guard dog, but I can see now that most dogs will bark to scare, not to protect the property, if untrained!
@b1squitz31
@b1squitz31 2 года назад
Some dogs will bite if untrained, you have to pick a confident one out from the litter and you dont over socialsie it. Basic bite develoment and you will have a dog that can bite. Ive had a cane corso that did bite untrained, he bit my neighbour when he was going crazy barking and still tried to pet him even though I said dont and also bit my brother who did the exact same. Mind you, without training he bit with his front teeth and dont get a deep bite and shake. If you want a corso then find a good bloodline (I imported mine from europe) and do some training with it and it will bite full mouth like the current one I have and is a true man stopper. Or import a fighting bully kutta from pakistan or india and these dogs will tear a man to death

@@b1squitz31 the best protection dogs are highly socialized. Don't believe the lies. An unsocialized dog has fear and defense driving its aggression. I can ONLY speak on Caucasian shepherds. My 3, I never trained to protect/ engage/bite etc. Ever! What I did first and foremost was to ensure I got my dogs from a reputable breeder that bred true, working cacasians( From Russia) . Next, the second I picked them up from the air port; I started obedience training and showed them that I was their new leader and thus leader of the pack. Lastly and the most important (imho) is that my family and I loved them just as if they were our own children. They would come in the house, some times in our bed( rare because of their size), we would take them for drives, we would just lay on the floor with them talking, etc. We truly would love them and play with them like our own children. After doing the above, my dogs showed me on two occasions in particular that they would kill ANYTHING that they thought was a threat to me and my family. No hesitation, no flinching, just strait destruction. And again, not one second of bite work.

@@GarmrK9 good morning. I pray that all is well with you and your family. How do you expect a breed to not do what it was bred to do? What you described about the American Pit Bull Terrier is EXACTLY what they were bred to be. Which is be: an aggressive, athletic, courageous, destructive, deadly, gladiator towards other dogs ( or animals) but be VERY passive towards humans. As the breed was being perfected; ANY dog that showed ANY form of human aggression was culled and not added to the gene pool. Why....... because the purpose they were developed for included a ring, the two gladiators ( dogs) , two dog handlers ( humans) and a referee ( human). So hence when persons try to train an American Pit Bull Terrier to be human aggressive, that is almost like teaching a fish to fly.......it goes against genetics. In conclusion, most dog breeds were bred for a purpose. Once you get the correct breed for said purpose; that purpose will be accomplished!

The question is what do you do with a dog like this how do you fix this
@CuhSpencer
@CuhSpencer 3 года назад
A lot of this is a reflection of how you bring up your dog, Especially a guard dog it’s important you raise a confident dog it should be used to different noises and louder noises (Not to the extent you make it go deaf ofc lol) It should never be hurt or really know fear if you raise your dog the right way I’m pretty confident it will react exactly how all of my dogs have that weren’t trained to bite, Key word “Attack training” or “Bite work” you aren’t training this dogs instinct some dogs are natural guardians and just need to get used to different situations it’s not something these guys train into them I’ve personally found it pointless why would I want me dog to have a command to bite somebody lol? I’m positive my dog would rag doll anyone that tries to threaten mine or my families lives. I always see guys do stupid shit like this thinking it’s an actual test for the dogs, Dogs aren’t that stupid😂 They know it’s fake, I’ve seen multiple episodes of some tv series or RU-vid series testing untrained dogs to see if they’ll react to a home invasion and the people come in and the dogs just wag their tails first like “Hey dumbass I know you aren’t a threat wth are you doing”😂 First off most of the time it’s just shitty acting on their parts but I gotta admit it does give me some good laughs then of course these people have to ego at the end “This is why trained guard dogs are a necessity” It’s like why don’t you come over here and seriously try to whoop on me and see what my dog does to you lmfao? I can of course handle myself but the point is that dog has my back try me 2 on 1 that dog will have your hand or leg tore apart I’ll put my guy to sleep and then get an easy finish on the other however I want guard dogs are no joke man
@CuhSpencer
@CuhSpencer 3 года назад
I’m not sure if there’s any real way to fix it... I do believe that might be the only reason guard training would be useful but my personal beliefs are you don’t need to train an instinctive guard dog to do its job it’s just gonna do it naturally and it’s on you to expose this dog to people noises and different situations but if you know you’ve made self faults getting guard training might be a big help to that it’s all about confidence that your dog doesn’t know fear and doesn’t get hurt dogs have adrenaline to that boy will be a whole other beast when it’s protecting it’s momma or daddy the pain really won’t phase them when they protect you in a serious situation

In Eurasia, (Russia and Caucasus area), people do wolfhound tests where dog fights happens. The point of the test is that the best winners are selected for breeding and they are effective wolf killers. And in all the championships, caucasian volkodav always wins. Yeah, the owners of these dogs could have fared better on their own in a hostile encounter. That said, I bet some dogs could have fared better on their own than attached to their humans.

i think the dogs are fine. They are guard dogs and did their job by barking to alert the owners. Unless they are specifically train to run towards the intruder and bite, they did fine by their nature.

There's a video from alpha dogos had set up an experiment of a man to to go and try to attack the dogo's owner, and yes the dogo was gonna bite, you could see it cleary, but i don't know if all dogos would step up to the plate, but that dogo did .he was no joke.

Ummm, those dogs look less trained than double teamed. That fila should have been all over that guy, but he was worrying about the "handler" too. Doesn't seem right, but I m not there.

I love the breed you represent, along with full blood pits, cane Corso etc. But I have a Terrible time connecting with you through your videos. I do believe you have very good stock as pre your program, but connecting with you via videos doesn't do it for me. Not trying to put you down or deny your capabilities of being a great breeder/ trainer or the intelligence of your dogs. You just come off not appealing to me with your videos and I've watched a lot of them. This being said I'm sure a lot of people will attack me for saying so. But this is just my opinion.

So you just messed up all those dog's. In training you don't keep pushing the dog back. In the beginning you give them a bite then run away building confidence. Because I'm pretty sure with all those dog's the owners let everyone and their mom's pet them while they were growing up. So now you got this guy in a suit pushing them backwards messing then up even more.... Now their confused.

Most dogs that are pets will do this.. not surprising at all.. If u go out and buy one thinking its guna tear kill intruders you pretty naive.. and if you go out a train the dog to bite regardless will not work as a pet.. its one or the other

If you are not dedicated enough to train a dog to fix its flaws but instead plan to give it to shelter then you do not deserve to own a dog.

These are untrained dogs. The video means nothing as far as prey or defense drive goth. Only less then 4 percent +/_ of dogs will protect without training,. Also, any dog could be run if the scenario is set in a certain way. To watch a video like this is a waste of time. JMO
