I totally agree! my dog worked like this. just for real protection, he doesn't think the stick doesn't hurt. does not come out of combat, but waits for the right moment to attack. knows the danger. I think many sporting dogs (almost all of them) are not brave, but just plain unconscious. made unconscious by the training done. great video.! 👍
Mike Tyson built a career on hitting and not being hit. That being said. I agree with you. I do like a dog that's capable of not being fixated on one hand or one person. To be able to switch hands or persons in a cause of multiple attacks or going after the hand with the weapon.
I think most trainers, handlers and breeders just simply fall in to the sport work narrative of full on unyielding approach because that path is already laid down for them and tought as "proper". In some cases an attack by a dog on man or beast can be much more devistating when a dog is acting out of fear or dominance becouse the dog is using all of its perceived options. Not an ingrained training regime or taught skill. Not that such training does not play a crucial role in the building and development of a well rounded dog. It's just some time it's better to just improve what the dog already has. That's why you breed such fine dogs in the first place. To stack the deck in your favor if you will. Great videos, awesome dogs.
Nothing wrong with sport , but I have moved away from sport . I have a eastern gsd . That I use to do sport with . It’s easy to get stuck into something especially when your naive to real protection training . I wanted a protection trainer and ended up doing sport work. But soon found out it’s not the type of training that would get my dog to where I wanted him . I’ve learned some things from it though , but I’ll continue on with real world protection . Now I have a Dogo puppy that I can mold from a early age . Having learned from some mistakes , and still move my gsd to where I would like him to be. Great video !
My 10 year old APBT is still that hyper when you try to hold him. He was like the Tasmanian Devil as a pup and adolescent and you have to have a looooooooot of patience with them if they are going to live indoors with you.
Would you say that you have a gift with the dogs ? The reason I ask is because I watch your videos and think to my self 'I THINK HE'S SELF TAUGHT HE SEEMS AUTHENTIC .
Well said excellent post people are just putting dogs together and calling them bandogs...and correct the gene pool should past down from generation too generation..
If you got a Canine to guard your wife and children; then I wouldn't play sports. The bite is the last thing you should focus on. Tactical intelligence, unshakable bond and real world training. Muzzle work is the advanced stage of fearless defence, targeting the whole man, then working with your canine in assailant scenarios. The Canine should feel that you part of the army. Martial arts is natural and nurtured.
I have never had any of my dogs do protection sports but the fact that most schutzhund enthusiasts seem to advertise that protection sport dogs are not even true protection dogs (i.e. they wouldn't actually engage a threat in real life) always seemed really stupid to me. What is even the point? Pure entertainment? Is there not a way you can get a real protection dog to be able to excel in sport as well?
@Mr Mel if you want to prefect a fighting/self defense method you need more than a weapon... the fact that a k9 dog will probably take down anyone with no problem dose not make it a martial art. You need to know distances and how to create and avoid it, Wich angle is best to proceed to according to the situation. to master every little "fighting" tactic that is self defense focussed. For example a grate boxer will probably fuck up more people in he's career than I can count 😂 but I'm not sure about he's chances against a kinfe... Yet krav maga, jiu jitsu, ikido, systema, military hand to hand combat, Kali,( and the list is going on... ) All those are made for this shit... So according to this analogy. I'm not saying that the "boxer" (not the breed...) In the video is bad. All I'm saying is that it is far from being referred to as martial arts and protection concept. All we see is a dog reaction to a threat on he's owner and that's just nature of a good bond between a dog and he's master. English is not my first language so this was so fucking hard!!!
@Mr Mel if I would see that a man swings a knife at the dog and it's owner and they blok the man with the leash and circles him together the man towards the empty hand, and the dog to the armed hand, now that's a martial art.
@@assafchelouche3850 not entirely true about a trained dog taking down anyone without any trouble. There have been criminals who had a police dog biting them and trying to take them down and the police had to taze them to get them to the ground. There have also been times where criminals have been smart enough to smack police dogs noses and even kick them in the face when the dog tried to bite em, and the police officer would call their dog back out of fear of their dog being seriously injured by the criminal. So no dogs cannot take down everyone, that is why you should be attacking your aggresser with your dog so that you protect your dog, the dog protects you, in turn you protect each other, and you by doing so you make sure you actually stop the threat.
All predators make sure they do not get harmed by prey what is the point in hunting and you getting hurt when hunting is to preserve self appreciate your info a lot of idiots are going to relearn today
