Same, I practically lived with my grandparents. They were the ones who raised me. This scene hits different if you are very close with your grandparents.
Yes sir. Right there with you. These movies are the best when they don't forget the small moments, and they nailed it in this outing. Glad you got a good thought about grandpa, it says a lot about who that man was for you.
@@sytherwuskyThat would work better as a Disney+ show imo. The slice of life angle just works better in series form cause you could see more than one slice from the life of Peter Jason Quill aka The Legendary Star-Lord.
And pissed off about having to mow the neighbor's lawn while her able bodied son sits on the porch and watches him 😂 I feel like this is the conversation in many households
This movie was so good and made me feel energized for the MCU again. They need to make more stuff like this, character driven, with emotional weight and coherent action scenes. The stuff with Rocket in his cage with his 3 friends was heartbreaking in a way that the MCU hasn't done in a long time.
@@Jim26D Agreed, he seemed to have a lot of autonomy compared to other Marvel directors and could make his kind of movie and not follow the MCU formula. Hopefully he brings this quality to DC
Going from saving the universe to talking about neighbours over breakfast - that's what retirement should be. No 'I used to do this and I should still be doing it', no 'I'm better than that', just acknowledging that you did awesome things that you can talk about forever and accepting that that part of your life is over and that now you can take things more calmly and look around you more.
A wise decision. Back then, I mostly fast forward (VHS) the credits (or listened to the soundtrack) and see if there’s end credit scenes. I don’t mind that if it is just an extra bit like bloopers, deleted scene, or sometimes closure. Nowadays looked like mandatory and pointless. Some are still like I remembered, but the MCU have overdid it.
GOTG 3 killed it at the box office!!! so far it's made 805.9 million...I was very emotional watching this movie knowing this is suppose to be the final one...
They'll probably visit Earth occasionally to say hi. Rocket and Nebula already have relationships with the Avengers from the 5 years in Endgame, and now they have an even stronger reason to visit.
I would love to see a conversation between Peter and grandpa about literally anything in the mcu. Killed his dad ego, fought Thanos, half human half...
I want to see how he reacts to Mantis coming to visit and mentioning she and Peter are half-siblings: "Peter! Why didn't you tell me I had a granddaughter?!" "Because... You don't? Mantis and I have different moms." "Bah! Technicalities! Welcome home, kiddo! I'll go set up the pull-out couch." "Thank you, New Grandpa!"
It's good to know that Chris (Starlord), Pom (Mantis) and Karen (Nebula) have confirmed that they're still more than interested in returning, unlike Zoe (Gamora), Dave (Drax) and Bradley (Rocket). Well, Bradley didn't deny anything either, and even if he quits, they can easily find another voice actor who sounds like him (in fact, the guy from the games sounds exactly like him). Sean Gunn (Kraglin) is definitely a big question mark though. Anyway, I'm curious how the franchise will continue, and I wanna see the new lineup with Adam and Phyla in action. In fact, I wonder if they'll give Adam a new incarnation of the Soul gem/stone... Magus storyline included....
James Gunn said that they could continue with the movies, but he won't be involved with them. As for the others, they deserve the chance to retire from these roles. They were great
I can see Bradley Cooper definitely returning for the big crossover movies like Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars. Dude made absolute bank with these movies just doing voice work. Sometimes even from home.
He should have went back to his grandpa sooner. Must have been hell for him to loose his daughter and grandson on the same day and not know where he was or what happened to him for 30+ years.
@@PhuongLe-yh3mwhe was testing Tony to see if he was really from Earth too, doubt many of the aliens who don't know about Christmas would know what a "Missouri" is
@@siralphastar1049 he wasn't testing him. Actually that scene doesn't make sense. At all. But it was sort of a pride thing for him. Honestly it was probably because Tony's response "Yeah, that's on Earth, dip$#@!" is so funny. Obviously a lot of Peter misunderstanding Earth culture makes no sense, unless you think he completely blocked that out of his mind, so maybe he really did forget the word "earth" because he was so preoccupied with so many other things and so many other planets... Earth is pretty insignificant. Just "mostly harmless".
My grandma died on Valentine's Day this year, same day is my little brother's birthday. Seeing Peter reconnected with his Grandpa after not seeing him all his life made me so teary-eyed I swear 😢
I love this right off the bat. They are just like grandfather and grandson just like me and my grandfather, I was on mushrooms, but I thoroughly cried and enjoyed myself the last 15 minutes of that movie!
Even though I hope to see Chris Pratt returning as the legendary Star-Lord again and as well as Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Groot, I will miss Zoe Saldana and David Baustia as Gamora and Drax. Also, I’m glad that the Director James Gunn gave Drax a happy ending of becoming a father the second time with those rescued kids rather than killing him off to join his daughter and wife. I will say this, no one will replace him as Drax. I understand why he was done playing Drax after this. I also heard he didn’t like being shirtless, take a long time doing makeup for the role, and especially wanted to do some dramatic role. But I really hope he changes his mind and comes back soon (if he wants to)
@@bakuryu6754 1) lmao….he’s no where near that caliber of actor or thought of the same in Hollywood, even tho I enjoyed way more of his work than I have of Leo’s, but 2) man it’s all about a paycheck and if it’s good and the story / script is decent enough he’ll do it. He did amazons dumb tomorrow war or whatever and terminal list…he’s gonna do anything marvel asks if he does garbage like that. Plus ones an Amazon series, if he did it, why wouldn’t he sign up for 8-20 episodes worth of star lord?
@@957kakashi u dont know andy jassy is his aunt husband? lol. no reason to play series for chris pratt. its only work for side character like falcon, bucky,
@@957kakashi Neither Tomorrow War nor Terminal List are garbage, they're mid to "barely good" kinda movies (well, Terminal List is a series), Jurassic World is also Mid, i think Chris would be in any movie/series that's mid to barely good, but, if he's with the appropiate director (just like James Gunn), he can shine like a diamond
Guardians of the galaxy had a fulfilling ending I’d say. The only sad thing I feel is remember characters like Yondu and Gamora (the original). They never got to know what happened in the end
Im really excited to see this next chapter for star-lord, the charming space-man gone suburb. I hope they're planning on giving him a solo film, I would definitely watch it.
Apparently james gunn talked abt it, but honestly at this point i feel as if letting the guardians and starlord rest is a nice way to cap it off. we have a perfect trilogy
Peter on vacation in San Francisco: "Yeah, in space-prison they just throw you all into one room and let you sleep in a big pile on the floor. Like 20 different species, they don't care. There was this one big guy with these tentacles..." (Pan over to Luis and his friends with terrified expressions.)
Meh 7/10. The emotional content was great but the overused MCU jokes in the middle of serious situations are getting old and what a ridiculous villain. Still a good movie but pretty overhyped right now
@@ReelNinja1 what are you on lol, the villain was fantastic and it was so satisfying seeing him getting his ass beat finally. I think the Guardians trilogy is the movies that are more likely to stand the test of time when it comes to the MCU saga, mostly because they are not about superheroes at all but rather human emotions.
I feel like people like Mantis and Star Lord and others will come back if faced with a big threat, like the MCU introduces Annihilus and does what the comics did where Annihilus and his whole army the Annihilation Wave damn near conquers the universe, and everybody that is any and everybody just comes together for survival. Something like that.
James Gunn and Chris Pratt talked about Star-Lord returning too! Would be awesome to see a special presentation or miniseries about him adjusting to life on Earth and maybe meeting the current Avengers and being an Earth-based superhero for a bit. Or maybe they could introduce Nova and have Peter be his mentor/partner and they go off on a little space adventure.
So nice to have such normalcy here, after all the ridiculous things and people the Guardians have come across, including dying and coming back to life.
Reminds me of great uncle and uncle. My great uncle had three combat jumps into Europe with the 82nd. My uncle had two tours in Vietnam and a third out of Thailand doing something "over the border". And they would have breakfast at a diner and just talk about normal stuff. My great uncle had a Silver Star and my uncle had a Purple Heart.
I had heard this would be the last Guardians film, now they're teasing there might be another? And I love the grandfather's paper with an article about an alien abduction...
I hope Peter , the legendary starlord returns back and rejoins the guardians. I bet the rest miss him a lot. Can't wait to see their reactions when he returns back
Here's a pitch for a Star-Lord spin-off, be it a film or special presentation: Peter Quill is busy and content being Missouri's neighborly backwoods Star-Lord, standing up for the little guy and stopping crooks, when one of his old flings (remember the first movie shows he got lots of action before settling with Gamora) shows up on Earth with a kid she says is his and asks for help with child support. Thus, he decides to take a job up in space and runs afoul of some old or new enemies.
@@justinstpierre386james gunn who is the director of the guardians movies left marvel, and bradley cooper said he’s done voicing rocket. the new characters will definitely be in upcoming movies and star lord will be back but guardians movies are most likely done
@@lukefleds6422 not necessarily done. they can continue this one with another director who will take the helm James has left. I just hope it's not gonna be Taika.
0:39 I thought Chris Pratt was done with playing Star Lord and with the MCU. Peter coming back to Earth and his emotional reunion with his grandfather was the perfect ending to his story.
...the funniest thing about the MCU right now is that somewhere in Missouri there's a middle aged millennial asking his 90-year-old grandfather how to turn on the Google machine.
bet he’s gonna get involved with either the avengers guys, maybe the other peter but seriously doubt it cause he probably is gonna have this whole thing whit flash since slash becomes the new venom I think in the comics
Christopher Walken: "You know the leprechaun? The one from those cereal commercials? He's always chasing the pot of gold, but when he gets there, at the end of the day, it's just corn flakes." Can't help but think of those words for this closing chapter to the Guardians trilogy. And not just because it ends with Pratt eating cereal.
Ok so after seeing this post credit scene I have a theory: Star Lord is going to return…in Eternals 2. Think about it: the Eternals who went to space (Thena, Makkari, Druid and Starfox) are going to want to kill the Celestials, and Peter Quill has killed a Celestial before. They could return to Earth and get him to help their endeavour, or at least gain some insight into how to succeed.
