Got all the instruments and about half the composers, too. 😀 And I learned of the existence of some new works. I had no idea Rossini wrote a bassoon concerto or Rimsky-Korsakov a trombone concerto.

Great Fun! I have no formal training or education in music but picked-up a thing or two listening to classical radio. This one had to be "Easy" as I got them all, with three or four guesses, but still all correct. Yaaaaaa Me! The brass are sometimes tricky.

Another great video my friend - and so quickly! I'd love to see some with choral music or lieder, or early music too! So many 'guess the classical music' channels focus on orchestra music... but yours is still the best regardless. The Liszt-ian interludes are hilarious.

The opening music (before you get to the actual quiz), Mozart’s piano concerto no. 21, was used as the sound track for Elvira Madigan , a soppy, maudlin movie about a tightrope walker who runs away with an army deserter. The best part was the ending where there are two off-screen gunshots. Sentimentalists think it was a double suicide but to cognoscenti it was obvious that he shot her twice.

There is a concerto for tympani out there somewhere, and if you dig into the Hoffnung Music Festival recordings you will find a Concerto for Hosepipe and Orchestra by Leopold Mozart (Wolfgang's father). Also in one of the Hoffnung Festivals there is a Concerto for Conductor and Orchestra. Albrechtsberger wrote a Concerto for Jew's Harp and orchestra, and several Tuba COncerti, including a transcription of Vivaldi's "Winter" from _The Four Seasons_ played by Norwegian virtuoso Oystein Baadsvik on a custon Miraphone E-flat tuba.

This was fun! Mr. Husband and I guessed all the instruments correctly, but not very many of the composers. I never knew there was a concerto for piccolo. I knew the Mozart clarinet concerto immediately because it is one of my favorites. I played clarinet in band and orchestra throughout my school years, including college. (Have not played it for years, though. I am in my seventies now. Still love the sound!) Keep up the good work; the Mister and I always look forward to your quizzes!

@adiosmusictest
@adiosmusictest Месяц назад
@DjBars92
@DjBars92 Месяц назад
@adiosmusictest
@adiosmusictest Месяц назад
@DjBars92
@DjBars92 Месяц назад

I missed the harpsichord one because I thought the harpsichord was the continuo part of a viola concerto! When I saw the title I was expecting to hear the music leading up to the entry of the soloist, with the challenge being to then identify which instrument it would be. Maybe you could do that another time? Some concertos start with the soloist (e.g. Grieg piano concerto) so for those you could pick a different point in the piece.
