Red Bull originates from Thailand so saying Austria is a bit conflicting since it existed in Thailand before, but an Austrian man went into business with the Thai manufacturers and globalised it into the brand it is today (along with carbonating the drink of course) since ORIGINAL energy drinks were not carbonated (this syrupy type is still drank in Thailand today with many other local brands).
Red Bull is a little iffy. Technically the drink comes from Thailand and is called "Krating Daeng" ("Red Bull", surprise, surprise), the Austrians just made a partnership with the original Thai company and modified the recipe for the Western market.
its even still owned 51% by the original thai family. i got so mad when i saw the countries as hints and Austria was there. Just because mateschitz could sell ice cubes to an eskimo and heavely invested in it and is from Austria, does not mean redbull is from Austria even if their headquarters is in Austria.
The very first SNICKERS Bar, named after the family horse, was manufactured in Chicago, US, and sold for five cents. So both snickers and twizzlers were both from the US.
Ummm actually, Red Bull was created when an Austrian man discovered the energy drink in Thailand called Krating Daeng. He teamed up with the originally Thai creator and adjusted the drink to suit the western tastes. The bull is a nod to the bull on the original Thai energy drink.
I literally enjoyed the entire Sponsor mentioned with Joe using Spanish. I usually skip ahead but when he pops up I knew he would make it entertaining and informative lol😂🎉
Red Bull is originally from Thailand. Krating Daeng literally means Red Bull. The founder of red Bull that we know was inspired by the Thai drink and created his own brand with a very similar logo.
Red bull comes from Thailand! It’s called Krating Daeng, which means red bull. Which is referreing to an Asian bison. The Austrian “creator” basically carbonated it. Actually the original non carbonated version is what I prefer. Very sweet though
When Martine started singing the Gummy bears theme song!!! I remember watching that as a kid and any time i talk about it no one believes me that it was real. Would be duck tales, tail spin, gummy bears , The friendly giant, pokearo and then polka dot door, The Wuzzels and Mr dress up ( Canadian here )
4:09 My neighbor is from the Netherlands, she worked for an egg factory there and transfered to the one here. She deserves an award for being an exceptional neighbor and citizen.
Red Bull originated as a non-carbonated vitamin drink from Thailand (containing B vitamins and Taurine derived from Ox Bile). The name "Kratin Daeng" or Red Bull alludes to the original source of the amino acid (Taurine).
Re: China inventing Ice Cream. Balderdash. Ancient Rome had a dish similar to ice cream around 200 BCE. Runners were carrying snow to Rome for the obscenely wealthy to cool their fevered brows with the desert in the summer.
You guys should do a series called "around the world in 80 snacks" and get snacks from all around the world, but try them in the order they'd be in if you were traveling. Hope that makes sense. I've thought about the idea more than a few times. I bet it'd be a lot of fun! I'm sure the idea could use some tweaks though lol.
9:49 For my Christmas present from my mother this year I received the book How German Ingenuity Inspired America by Lynee Breen (Note: I am German American) According to the book, the first gummy bears were made "in the shape of whimsical dancing bears."
Clearly the US education system doesn't care about geography outside the US... the difficulty on remembering Canadá as the great white north (a country that is actually bigger than the US and it is north of it). God bless their ignorance
The Red Bull company is austrian but the recipe and origin is from thailand but it wasn't carbonated originally, they still sell the original non carbonated version there.
I can’t imagine the non carbonated one. I feel like there’s not enough accurate information online. I looked it up and it said Austria but I think I saw a gmm episode that said Thailand was where it came from 🤷♀️
I love the fact that the Dutch (where im from) invented the donut but I don’t know any place near me that actually sells them and also never had one in 30 years 😂
This was such a fun episode! Martine absolutely made my day when she started singing the theme song for the Gummi Bears cartoon. 🙂 I'm so glad I'm not the only one who does that whenever I snack on gummy bears lol
I'm just glad I'm not the only one that remembers the show everyone I seem to talk to has forgotten it existed which makes me sad. It made my soul happy when she sang it.
The Snickers segment was WRONG!!! Snickers History Snickers were introduced in 1930. The candy was named after the Mars family’s favorite horse at the time. The nougat, peanuts, and caramel ingredients were a popular combination. The candy bar was sold as the Marathon bar in the UK and in Ireland all the way until 1990. At that time, the bar was aligned to be named the same thing as the US version. Mars briefly marketed another candy bar of a different type under the Marathon name in the US during the 70s, so the simplification of the name was intended to reduce confusion about the products. When Snickers was first sold, it caused a lot of controversy for the price that it was sold for. At the time, most candies sold for 5 cents. Snickers were offered at 20 cents apiece, which was held to be a ridiculously high price. This clearly did not hold the 30s candy bar back, but it did make quite a stir at the time and elevated the candy to a notoriety point that might have helped to increase attention on the product. Over time, Snickers became so popular that it was sold in different forms. There were Snickers minis, a dark chocolate version, ice cream products, and even protein bars added to the lineup of Snickers products. The UK required that candy bars be downsized with the Manifesto for Food and Health of 2004, and the king-size version of the candy was no longer sold there after that date.
I'm from a Cambodian household, and I legit laughted right away at Noah's guess for peanut butter was Cambodian lol. There's no way that country invented peanut butter 😂
Actually the original Red Bull drink was developed in 1962 by a thai man named, Chaleo Voovidhya. And it's called Krating Daeng (the non-carbonated version).
Tortilla chips are from Mexico, we have been eating it for centuries, our favorite beakfast Chilaquiles is made of tortilla chips, it's a prehispanic dish, so no way US invented the tortilla chips.
A little bit of research would do you a world of good, y'know. I will concede that Mexico is responsible for tortillas and their chip-like form; that much is true. However, tortilla chips *AS WE KNOW THEM TODAY* were actually made by an American woman by the name of Rebecca Carranza. She cut them from rejected tortillas made by her automated tortilla making machine, fried them up, served them to guests at a party where they were a massive success, then began selling them at her restaurant, the El Zarape Tortilla Factory.
@@elijahfoltz3755 as YOU know them we Mexicans knee then as totopo a náhuatl word for it and it came way before someone patterned something so you can say You "invented" it
I knew a few of the answers, didn't know a lot. But that's okay. This was fun. The teams were awesome! Especially Martine and Wootak! This was his first appearance here but he was a lot of fun! Martine kind of brings the best out in anyone she's paired with. That poor guy has had a lot of bad 7 year experiences tho. 😂😂 And the eye contact during the pie! Lol
It is confusing that although the United Kingdom is a known as a sovereign country…England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are also widely referred to as countries. The UK Prime Minister's website has used the phrase "countries within a country" to describe the United Kingdom.🤷🏻♂️
They did the toast thing before except spread a thick layer of Vegemite with no butter… no wonder why a lot of them hated it. The correct way is the way you explained.
Always very fun to watch other people eat vegemite the wrong way ahahahaha. you don't put a spoonful in your mouth, its usually for buttered toast with a very light spread. Or like a pea size dollop on a breadstick. BUT there are aussies that are crazy with their servings and please don't follow them. Thats expert level (new game + hard mode)
As an Aussie, you guys did it wrong again with the Vegemite.. you should have gave them a piece of toast, spread a thick layer of butter and a tiny bit of Vegemite on top. Trust me, they wouldn’t hate it then. I love it with loads of butter or with melted cheese.
I’m not Australian I’m a kiwi so I fully understand the frustration behind people putting it onto a spoon and eating it. I LOVE marmite on toast, but I would never grab a spoon and eat it like ice cream
Algeria, Afghanistan, Angola, and Antigua and Baruda aren't in Europe either. Azerbaijan and Armenia are more West Asian than Europeans countries too. There were only 3 europeans countries in the list xD
2:19 Spanish is a very helpful language to know, especially for travel in Spain and to have the ability to converse with Spanish-speakers in the United States. Great presentation Don Draper...must have mixed up the names...I mean Joe!
With the Red Bull question... I was all "Austria" and then I hear "I'm looking for a European country starting with the letter A" and they mention every other country that is NOT in Europe. I am dying 😂😂😂
Nachos were not invented in California. They come from Mexico. They were commercialized in Los Angeles. You need to read past the first paragraph in the Wikipedia article.
