I think that when you evaluate only the player that sent the clip you are really guessing his true ELO potential and not the actual ELO the game was played on, you should judge the actions of everyone in the clip if you want to guess the ELO is was played on.
I was a gold player in Taiwan server, when I come to EU West I am capable of beating diamond players. You can't compare different players from different regions.
Mechanic wise, low elo players have gotten better and one tricks have excellent mechanics knowing their combos, but that's all they have and thus they are stuck.
The 3 emeralds in a row at the start was such a big brain mind game on doublelift. Perfectly timed how many times in a row before he loses his mind and just guesses emerald. This was hard though.
to be fair, the editor is picking the absolute godliest low-elo clips he can find, while selecting the absolute worst high elo clips. So it makes sense

Yep , even a bronze could make a diamond + play mechanicly every now and then and some high rank guy could fail as well , its all about the overall play .
@@zezanje1 yep consistency is key , but also macro plays , knowing when to fight , when to farm , wave management , there are actually some decent mechanic low elo players but they suck at the game overall and get stuck at silver/gold , Iron players are just trash everywhere
Perfectly encapsulates emerald rank. Honestly think it's the hardest rank right now just from a gap perspective. Teams are all over the place and players are either insanely good or downright horrendous.
Yep, Emerald tier makes no sense anymore. You find people that were even high Diamond and now are just playing less but are still very good and people that were Gold trying to still learn the fundamentals. Is such a nonsense. Also matchmaking is screwed, I'm Emerald 2 and had to lane vs a Diamond 1 player, wtf.

Yes, but also micro skills also tell what rank you're on. Especially you can also see everyone so, you wont be guessing from the senders movement but also from the movement of his allies and enemies as well. So a gold adc might be playing exceptionally well for his rank but you can also see other players if they match the rank you were thinking of. That's why there's a reason why low elo are very easy to guess. Coz 1 player might be playing like challenger but the rest most likely wasnt
Yeah, exactly. Back in the day (when things like the insec and hitting triple gp barrels and stuff like that was challenger shit), there was a huge mechanical difference between high and low elo, but nowadays, it's largely just knowing the macro game and fucking up less than other players. I've seen bronze players do things that only super high elo ppl could do 10 years ago; the problem is that they still fuck it up half the time and die way more than they should.
the thing is i think its not persons rank, but the game they're in.. so there could be a chall player among those emerald clips but he is in emerald game, at least i think thats how it is.. and what you're saying about getting trolled, if you're good enough you will climb its that simple, i was hardstuck plat whole my life before actually trying to improve and wow holy fk imagine after improving u rank up.. i hit diamond for the first time in my life and then went straight to masters in 2 weeks and now i can get master whenever i want.. its so simple, if you want to climb, u improve and u dont focus on stuff like "man we woulda won that if i had better team".. "played perfectly one game and then trolled in the next" even the trolled game can be won if you play it perfectly, its rare for a game to be completely unwinnable by a team gap while ur playing perfectly
I think it's hard because of the 3 emeralds in a row at the start and the fact that the base floor of ADCs is always increasing. I find myself playing in a way that probably would have made me a much higher rank years ago, but my rank is pretty much stable for years. Most ADCs are CSing way more on average than even just 3 or 4 years ago even in bronze.
its true, a lot of the diamond players wouldve been challs years ago when no1 knew anything about the game.. its like that with every game tho, just look at fortnite xd.. players get better and gain more knowledge the more the game is alive..

I wonder if there is a way to train how to space and click in the way DL says it's actually good. I'm barely emerald, but I know my mechanics are shit, and usually just win through macro or making right decisions, but would like to improve the mechanics
You should do a guess my rank but you have to guess which clip is which elo. and you mark it off after each clip. So no two clips can be the same elo. it would make it more fair but yet entertaining. so one clip of each rank and he has to guess which one it is. for example if the last two clips are bronze and challenger that hasn't been shown he knows its on or the other. and if he gets that wrong its a banger video. I think people forget low elo player can have some INSANE mechanics but just have no idea about the map and warding, when to fight and when not to fight
With Emerald rank now a thing I imagine old school players are gonna have a harder time adjusting to the the new placement of players. I've been playing since season 1 and I haven't fully adjusted. Some gold players are now in plat, some diamonds players are now in emerald. It's kinda screwed with me.
i'm in Emerald. I swear sometimes i feel like i'm playing against bronze players and the next I feel like i'm getting smurfed on constantly. I think we just may be the most inconsistent rank.
The problem is that some players are good mechanically but terrible in macro whereas others have utterly braindead micro but have decent macro and only mechanics are represented in these videos.
its just hard to guess if you only look at plays alone. looking at all the info in the clip ex: macro, items, scores etc generally makes for better guesses. We will all be defeated by emerald clips tho

i can promise you that low elo players are way more tryhard nowadays. silver was a fucking nightmare to climb out of, now that im in plat it feels like masters sometimes. Bronze-plat is an utter nightmare cause of that. bronzies got some decent plays believe it or not
I'm only at 9:03, but I can say as a player who's spent my life in silver / gold... The Samira plays both look exactly like something I would have done.
The trick is these people put their one of best play they had so even silver can pull alistar flash dodge, for the next series try to pay atttention what the enemy does that will tell you more what rank they are.
doublelift please consider that a bronze player CAN have insane mechanics but is just stuck in his rank because of bad macro gameplay. This counts for every rank.
Guessing ranks is impossible. It would be more fun to gather clips based on a common theme and make it true false or something. For example, a compilation of ADC plays from players that are ADC mains as well as off-role players, all of comparable skill/rank. DL has to distinguish between the ADC mains and the off-role players.
It's really hard because there are so many factors that go into making a clip look clean vs looking chaotic. Relative player skill is a big one, a lot of the low-rank clips have chaotic enemies making the ADC look nicer than they are.
Just to be clear: Bausffs is good mechanically, even by challenger standards. That's why he can outplay ridiculously hard matchups from 'behind'. A large part of why he can make his inting playstyle work if both toplaners are fed, he's more likely to carry than enemy top.
That last plat clip was really good, definitely don't get adcs like that in my diamond games, literally killed a varus with cleanse lvl 1 with a bard q, like idk man. I think rank says way more about your macro than your micro
One small tips for you, the player you are watching might be a smurf, which mean they execute the play better than the actual rank of the account. You have to look at other players also, like how his/her teammates and enemy fcked up as well
@@KingR098 I think pretty hard to say whether they are smurf or not, since matchmaking history is not very reliable, since League sportmanships is dropping damm hard. They could be decent player but a small argument with teammates could easily lead to a trolling/ feeding game
13:15 as much as i am also under the assumption that this game is run over by smurfs. The perception of pro players thinking bronze and iron players dont have mechanics is so outdated. Bronze players might have the mechanics but not the macro and gameknowledge at full to make it out of their rank. countless examples have been given already so far, including viewer 1v1 and other content by various pro players interacting with their fanbase and or new player streams
Emerald i now feel like emerald has so random elo, this is so inflated elo that just everyone is there, who care you play better than emerald, you just belong there forever
Don't worry. It is hard. You can't pinpoint someones elo from just a short play. There are mechanical geniuses in bronze and mechanical nightmares in high elo. It is actually just a guessing game and not something you can actually determine by any measurements.

It's so hard because anything below emerald is an absolute shit show. Nothing makes sense, you have smurfs piloting weird picks, mixed with players who got carried in promos who should be silver but are now playing lane into master smurfs. It's nearly impossible to guess.
Hey you should slow down and do more time on fewer players. And show some of what they should be doing in detail or show what they are doing that’s good
Yeah, this show needs to evolve, you cant tell a lot from a single clip. They need to show different clips out of one game with the score board open so you can see cs and item builds. There is a RU-vidr called Harstem who does these in Starcraft 2 and his guess the rank videos are actuall bangers. Doublelift needs to copy that style.

Emerald is old Gold, Plat, and low Diamond. It's a terrible rank. You get garbage mixed with players who actually know what they're doing. It's like what happens when you play Flex, but worse.
