3:05 I like how you just casually mention this absolute game-changing feature. Clear prints is something that I've always just assumed would never be possible in 3D printing. At least not with out weird workarounds.

Earlyer this Year you talked about non planar slicing and if its worth it. A good start would be to enable such a feature for just the last few layers. You wouldnt have to modify your printer with a longer nozzle and you could cover the print steps on almost-planar areas. that would be a big increase to prints that have round tops like heads or so.

It's amazing how quickly you respond to the community request. Let's make PrusaSlicer better than Cura!
@xantrax9359
@xantrax9359 Год назад
At 7:20 you mentioned about fuzzy edges after ironing. Cura got crucial modifier for that called "Ironing Inset". That modifier let you set the distance how far from the edge the ironing should finish (in milimeters od fraction of milimeter). It basically eliminates the problem with fuzzy edges. This is extremely important, especially on objects with rounded edges. This video was prepared 2 years ago for PrusaSlicer 2.3. Now we have official 2.6 version and equivalent of that function is still not present in PrusaSlicer. Do you think about solution to "fuzzy edges" on ironed objects and when can we expect it?
@Sembazuru
@Sembazuru 3 года назад
Another thing to keep in mind when ironing that I discovered playing around with one of the alphas of 2.3, make sure you have plenty of top layers and/or the top layers are well supported. I did a sample print with very few top layers (3 I think) and because the nozzle spends so much time going over the top that it became soft and started to droop a little between the support of the infill.

If you, like me, are getting constant extruder jams on an original Prusa MK3 using the default Prusaslicer profile for it: that's a cold end jam due to heat creep from the motor cause it's just extruding too slowly. Doubling ironing flow to 30% and speed to 30mm/s will work! TEST YOUR OWN PRINTERS BETTER, Joe!

Hi there! Is there an option to turn Ironing on, but letting the perimeters untouched (without having to do tricky things, like importing an personalized model, with offset surfaces, that exclude the the perimeters or changing the gCode). If not, I think, that could be a nice and relatively easy to implement option, that would help to keep edges clean and sharp while keeping almost all the surface smooth and flat. Btw, very nice and comprehensive video :)

I have had some issues with a 0.25mm nozzle and ironing. It gives a nice finish but the nozzle tends to clog. I wonder of there could be a series or retractions to keep the filament moving a bit... Not exactly easy sifting through the updates to Slicer. You guys live and breath this stuff everyday but us end users want simplicity. I even deleted/removed the version I had and just downloaded the "latest version" only to find out it was what I had. And no "Ironing" in the drop down. Guys, why not have a button option in the Help menu or where ever that gives you the option to confirm we have the latest version loaded and all the updates? You click it and it does it automatically.
